I can't play this with the audio as is. The scenes have no ump. Kratos walking quietly down a hallway and then stabbing a giant worm in the face with no sound effects is just killer. How did this happen?
It gets better after the first couple hours. It's still off but not as distracting. I honestly think the fucked up audio is why most people, including myself, are down on the first couple hours. Once those issues are lessened and you get past the first couple areas the game leaps up in quality. It's a shame the game shipped with that glitch.
I believe it's disc locked dlc unfortunately. I would check the multiplayer armor in game to see if it's there. Same thing happened to me but when I logged into the MP I already had a ton of new armor.
Holy fuck -- these fucking goats are straight killers. I just spammed the throw but it took trial and error. I just made it past the ice power gate towards what looks like
giant snake
. I have collected way more Gorgon Eyes than I have Phoenix Feathers. Is that everyone's experience or have I been missing Phoenix Feathers? I have yet to collect 5; whereas, I have about 7 Eyes.

A harder part of the game that many reviews mentioned was notably more difficult than any other part of the game. That is annoying, and not something any game should ship with.
Your recommendation of headphones while welcomed news, isn't a solution for most people. Most people don't even have the option to play a game like this with headphones. I know you like this game but there is no need to make excuses for all it's problems.
I don't have the game, but I haven't resisted to see some walkthrough. Honestly, my interest is completely gone after this. I don't know, maybe just watch it isn't spectacular like GOW 3, but everything seems quite undertone compared the third. The bosses, the enemies, the art style, it seems a notable step back to me, probably I will pass like killzone 3, sadly. GOW 3 left me just crazy after some clips, this seems become worse more & more when I discover it through the walkthroughs. I don't said it's horrible, to be precise but it's just below my expectations.

If you are trying this part for more than 30 minutes, you are doing something wrong... But it's funny, in MGR it is "challenging" when the last boss has a huge difficulty spike, in GoW it should be patched when there is a part that is a bit more challenging.
The headphone fix also works with boxes, just set the ingame soundsetting to headphones. You won't get Surround sound, but the Sound Bugs are also gone.

Yeah, before we discuss any further, did you even play the part in question? I played both parts, and the difficulty spike in MGR was way higher than GoW:A. But you know what? I just sat through it, got better, and beat both parts, amazing I know, it is what games are about.
Also there are people on GAF that claim the final Boss in MGR took them "hours" to beat.
edit: There is also an "easy" option for people like you.
I'm not feeling as impressed with the graphics as I did with 3, but I've felt like that since the game was shown with that first demo. I think maybe because 3 was such a massive step forward and this game is more of a tiny step forward, with a lower overall framerate too.
But I haven't seen anything in this game that blew me away like that gif in 3 where Kratos is standing on that platform looking out in the distance where those storms are happening. That could just be better art direction too.
Completly stuck in the Delphi Catacombs, chapter 11, in the big sand Houglass room...did a few things but the last green vapor I dont get what to do so I can't get out of there lol...

Don't know where you are stuck exactly, but you need to move the box in front of the "swingable" platform that hangs from the ceiling. After acitivating the time-thing, jump onto the box -> platform and destroy the hourglass. You need to be fast.
The final boss in MGR was waaaay harder than anything this game threw at me
Get better at the game, kids. Reminds me of all those whiners who wanted week one patches for UMvC3 Sentinel. How about learning how to play before crying, huh?

So far i'm not enjoying very much. I'm at the big snakes things.
I just hate how they zoom out to show the scenery. "Oh look how epic is the scale of this place". Screw it. I can't even tell wich of those tiny guys is Kratos. Oh i do, it's the one being gang banged.
Combat... well, i'm the square square triangle kind of player so whatever.
It seems like the chaos blades are the only primary weapons in the game, right? If so... Damn. I loved the cestus in GoW3.
Oh, three times i fell through the border of the scenario while fighting that sub boss in the beginning. Game feels buggy.
I feel like god of war ascencion is like terminator rise of the machines or alien ressurrection. An unnecessary sequel.

Ok thanks, what you are talking about was not there but I figured how to bring it in that room...the next section is a part where I hate the God Of War series because it's a stupid, boring, waste of time QTE that if you miss, you have to restart the whole thing, and at times they even have the nerve to change the sequence of the QTE...but I will bear through it,restart a lot of times because I want to see the good parts of the game, which is everything else...(I am not sure but I just noticed something though with the QTE,that might calm my nerves of them coming, they are placed like on the controller, like if it's O,it will appear in the middle right of the screen lol...where the others like this also?).
Not sure while this is getting such hate. Maybe my expectations are low. I am enjoying myself so far. It's def not my favorite in the series thus far but that doesn't necessarily make it a trash game. Time will tell but my initial impressions aren't sour.

There was a part a little later in the game where the checkpoint starts you in the middle of a fight with some grunts while the camera is zoomed way out and you literally can't tell where you are until you start flailing attacks everywhere. It's not a hard fight, but still stood out as a QA problem.

While I have a lot of respect for the Santa Monica team this game could have easily used 3 extra months of polish. These are the technical issues I'm having with the game
geometry glitches
Collision detection
something is seriously off with the roll and blocking animations
shitty camera
the sound issues
having issues recouping magic as well, the meter is not filling up at all
While I wasn't the biggest fan of 3 the game was up to snuff at least.
I don't currently recommend this game to anyone until a few major patches come out.
It's not all negative though the set pieces and graphics are amazing.
fake edit: and lol the boobs on the females in the game they look like balloons about to pop.
Can I not switch the game difficulty from hard to normal during the game? I'm at he point of fighting this scorpion/dragon and it's just so cheap. I don't see anywhere in the menu where I can change it.

The final boss in MGR is one of the easiest bosses in MGR his attack windows are use and his tells are obvious. The only difficult part about him in learning his attack strings at the start and that catches people off guard. It wasn't even learning the game it was just nasic patern memorization. Not sure why you'd use him as a goalpost. Now Monsoon, there is an actually difficult boss.

I also had a hell of a time trying to beat that section (managed it on normal, failed on hard). I've beat MGR on every difficulty but 'Revengence', Platinum'd GOW 2 and Bayonetta etc... But that difficulty spike was bullshit. Not at any point before, or after 'The trial of Archemedies' does GOW:A demand anything more than the usual combo mashing and exploiting the crap out of grab invincibility frames which saw me through past GOW games. MGR's final boss on the other hand felt like the natural test of the culmination of my skill at the end of the game.

Yeah I've beaten all the God of War's on the hardest difficulty with not as much problem as I'm having with GOW:A on hard. Most enemies are just cheap and I hate the rage meter. Still trying to figure out if I can change the difficulty mid game. I've tried the past hour to beat this scorpion/dragon and it's not happening.

found Archimedes dead body before I had to go to sleep for school
and I'll give my impressions thus far. Note: I have not played any of the demos, I have not seen any trailers for the game, pure media blackout for me, everything here for me is fresh and I never seen any of it before outside of the E3 demo. 2nd time posting in this thread but I haven't read anything here at all, so I don't know whats unique to me or whats a common problem.
Packaging: Disappointing, no manual and the in-lay cover art is the CONTROLLER? Early access to the last of us demo in 80 days...thanks...
Start up: This most likely may just be me but the main menu not being Kratos' face kinda bummed me out, as well as the 'creating profile' thing, what the hell is all that about? I later find out that there are no more save points, WHY???????? Why is everything fucking auto save now? I die, come back with full health, try the section again, I can't save right before every boss fight like I used to...does the chapter select take you right to the bosses?
Story: I'm fighting a what? A hecontonkawhat?? The fuck is that, what the hell are these furies things(I know the intro introduced them but if the first thing I'm doing is punching the shit out of one, it's not much of a introduction) Why am I chained up? WHAT IS GOING ON? I basically had this mindset all the way to...basically where I am at now, I have no clue what my goal is. I have to get rid of my nightmares...right? Get rid of the 'illusions(?)'...right? The narrative is non-existant. This has to be the longest time in a god of war game between someone talking and action/platforming to be hours apart. They spoke of some lantern, then of some eyes, what the hell are they talking about? Will this be explained as I get farther in the game? 3 weeks earlier, 2 weeks later, 1 week earlier, what's the point of this?
Combat/Boss fights: Combat has taken a huge noise dive. I can't mash square and then end it with a triangle like I've been doing since 2005, even after I upgrade my weapons. It's all hidden behind this stupid rage meter which rarely gets full because Kratos is weak as shit and these goat men eat your attacks and then knock you across the arena. You fight bugs for like the first 3 hours which take one grapple to kill but 5 regular hits to kill. Hades, Zeus, Poseidon, Ares, embue the blades of chaos with the power of these gods to do....NOTHING! They don't seem to do any damage to the enemies, Fire is good when your rage is full so the good ol s-s-t attack makes an explosion but that's about it, attacks seem to take too long to come out because there's always some goat asshole ready to jump on you and bring your rage down to 0. I use only ice because it's the only thing that breaks their guard, which makes me jelly because I might as well not have a block button. I seem to block but I get knocked down, I roll away but still get hit by attacks that landed a mile away, either I suck at god of war all of sudden despite playing through all 5 games earlier in the month or there's something really wrong with the combat. Why is it all I'm fighting is goat people? Then I'll get an occasional electric siren thing which takes a million years to kill because they dodge all your powerful attacks. Square Square roll away Square x 3 then turn around towards the enemies and finish the combo because attacking them head on is stupid and finishing a combo seems to never happen. Throwing them does massive damage and even kills them depending on your location but if I have to do this every single fight then that's no fun at all. I've beaten every game on God/Titan/Chaos whatever the names are and I'm getting my ass kicked here! Why am I so weak!?
Bosses so far though, have been the opposite, they've been a lot of fun and creative.
the boss fight in the tower of Delphi was awesome
Technical side: Sound is fucked in every way shape or form. No oomph, no sound effects, too loud, too quiet, it fucking sucks. I am shocked the game was shipped this way, was this in the demo? I remember reading the demo was a more finished build, how the hell did this slip past? Framerate is terrible, GoW3 was not like this at all, this game goes from 40-50 fps to 15-20 in a split second. UGH THE FUCKING LOADING. Everytime I enter a new area, I sit there with the game frozen with the Omega symbol in the corner for 15 seconds before I can proceed. The graphics are more colourful this time around, but the textures never load, ever. Even when I upgrade my weapons, the icons are pixelated then they clear up if I sit there for 30 seconds, wtf? I understand they love to use scale, but I can't see Kratos because he just blends in,
I'm on a giant riding snake, it zooms waaaayyyyyyy the fuck back and there are more goat assholes attacking me then I die and I have no clue what the fuck happened
. The camera glitches out on me sometimes, the swinging sections will cause me to die because kratos doesn't want to fucking swing or hook onto the green point...so far the only thing that made me say wow was the beginning boss fight, but I'll even go as far and say the E3 demo looked more polished, the game just looks and gives off this unfinished feel. Jaggies everywhere, horrible horrible shadows...It's more consistent then 3 though, I haven't encountered anything that was as fucking ugly as Hera's maze.
Environment/puzzles: It took them 10 years but finally the series has good puzzles, they are creative and take some thought without being too confusing, all set within beautiful places. From the paintings on the wall in Delphi to the Meaty Prison of the beginning of the game, it gives off a very god of war 2 feel which is a huge positive.
Multiplayer: Haven't tried it yet, but I played the shit out of the Beta, I hope I won't have to rip it apart because they seemed to have been ignoring a lot of the bigger issues in the beta.
TL;DR The game is a disappointment. I'm having some fun with it because it's god of war but so far the story is just...missing, combat is a chore, graphics are good, environments and puzzles are good. Kratos just doesn't seem to be there, neither are any of the characters, I feel like I'm just playing a adventure game where the goal is just to finish the game.
