You're all taking offense or something with this comment now, but it's like a clock, wait and see a month or 2 we'll see the "GoW RANGAROK actually sucked" threads.
It's what happens when game reviewers pad out scores, then people that aren't typically into a certain genre buy a game that they won't like, but due to "peer pressure" or whatever their weak minds consider it, they buy a game outside their comfort zone genre, then they realize the reviewers weren't 100% honest or buried some of the worst points of the game and ignored them in their final scores.
Gamespot review
That's one of many glossed over issues that is in these reviews right now.
It speaks of flawed combat mechanics that are deep in the game's core.
Even the guys giving it high scores are echoing the sentiment that it's more of the same and as we all know GoW 2018 isn't as good as Elden Ring so I think it winning GOTY won't have much to do with the potential bias of publications.I'm shocked its reviewing so highly. Saw so much discussion about how it wasn't ambitious and was sticking to the formula.
GOW 2018 is one of my favourite games so I'm really excited about the sequel. A more refined version of that game with some twists and turns is perfect for me.
Still expect Elden Ring to be GOTY, mainly because it'll have Xbox and PC publications voting for it.
Its literally 1 or 2 points below get a fucking grip.I am solely talking about the reviews here. It's not on ER level.
The casuals also like ER and from games now.Look at this thread, filled with people that think 20-year-old overused and abused jim ryan laughing and kratos dancing gifs are awesome. It's the most casual crowd in gaming.
No one is saying this is getting GOTY over ER because of the scores. People are saying that because the game SCREAMS QUALITY in every department, seems to be a really fucking good game, yes probably better than ER.Don't get me wrong, I loved the first and can't wait to play this. But I was replying to people saying this is GOTY over ER just because of the scores, but that makes no sense because the scores are clearly below. We haven't even played God of War Ragnarok yet, maybe it is better, but let the game come out first.

You're the one that responded to my comment dude.
The "tribal mentality" which is real and you can see it clearly in this thread is really pathetic isn't it?Be like me, play both. Defeat the tribal mentality.

You in this thread mad as hell, go grab a drink bro
I'm still shedding bro don't worry the boi is coming back
Even if GOW18 released this year I'd still give it GOTY. That game was that damn good. If this is better, then ace.Even the guys giving it high scores are echoing the sentiment that it's more of the same and as we all know GoW 2018 isn't as good as Elden Ring so I think it winning GOTY won't have much to do with the potential bias of publications.
It will be alright mateYou're the one that responded to my comment dude.
Not until the 9thYou made it team 2023 your avatars will be free.
And rip to those boys who got a perma and will be forever team 2023
There's a reason why hes on my ignore list....i suggest you do the same
I haven't ran into enemies that are like that on Give Me God of War from start to finish, but that might be perhaps only because I started going back to explore hidden areas after I've beaten the game. So can't really confirm, but as of now, did not experience anything like it.Does it still have the enemy level system where when you're too low their blows break through your shield?
Imagine not having a PS5
I don't think "samey" should be docked, IF and only IF, those "samey" things are already great or if they're samey but slightly different. Cause lets be honest here, if you've played a From game ER will feel samey. The biggest thing about ER was it's world/open world setting... but it's combat it's pretty samey, it's story telling method is pretty samey. But, because we really like the combat already and it's style of story telling we don't really care.If Elden Rings got a 98, this is surely to get a 96.
But maybe the game is too samey and those previews were kinda meh. So maybe, just maybe the game critics finally start reviewing games critically again and dock points for that.
That said, Ratchet got an 88 and horizon got an 89 despite being samey so this game will probably get a 99.
Kratos's aggression is reflected in the enemies, which hit much harder than before and aim to overwhelm. In the early hours, this is fine, but as the game ramps up and trickier enemies appear, the mechanics can struggle under the pressure of the increased speed and aggression. These enemies often absorb much more damage, have multiple phases, or move around and attack from a distance, and in many cases, there can be multiple of them. Because of this, it can often feel like you're being pulled in multiple directions and cracks in the defensive options form. I often found myself in the middle of a series of attacks and then suddenly an enemy would appear from behind, forcing me to disengage either by turning around or rolling out of the way
This also felt like it was breaking the flow of combat, especially since the intensity made it easy to lose track of the on-screen arrow that indicates an attack from behind is coming. The indicator switches from yellow to red to provide some idea of timing, but I still found myself getting clipped a lot. Although this isn't a big deal for much of the game, in the latter half, enemies can stunlock you, so there were numerous occasions where a single enemy would open me up to being pummeled by multiple and I'd die in an instant. These moments arose in a way where I felt ill-equipped and incapable of making Kratos react in a way that could deal with what was being thrown at me, as opposed to not being able to execute because of my own skill. Since there are high-level challenges equivalent to Valkyries from the previous game–and more than a few that are even trickier–this is the kind of thing that can be the difference between life and death.
All games that reach this level of hype get questionable reviews. Everything from Sony to Nintendo to From Software. Critics are bound to hype the games just as much as the players. You're all taking offense or something with this comment now, but it's like a clock, wait and see a month or 2 we'll see the "GoW RANGAROK actually sucked" threads.

Based on those reviews, it is. But is that a bad thing? GoW was great, apparently this is the same but bigger, what did you expect? That they were able to re-invent themselves completely once more?Looking at these review scores, this better not end up being GoW 1.5.
Is the challenge like the first game when campaign is pretty easy and they saved the hard stuff for sidecontents like valkirye, fog labytint and the trials in the lava zone?Truth be told, I do not remember lol. But I managed to kill over 15+ bosses without getting hit on it, but then again granted i love doing solo challenges. Might be first in the world for this, videos will be going up for that once launch embargos lift on the 8th. There are some INSANE fights there.
The Soulless, storyless, clunkiness, and technical disaster.
so its the same boring gameplay except now its getting 10/10???
I have to stop you right there because you know nothing about what made Elden Ring special, then..
Almost every reviewer of Elden Ring glossed over how easy it is to get stuck, not knowing how to progress,
DLCLooking at these review scores, this better not end up being GoW 1.5.

I have a preference for Xbox but I'd be damned to miss out on a superb game because I tie my personality into one corperation over the other. I doubt this will surpass elden ring for me because ive always have a preference for rpgs and souls game, but I'm not going to stop myself from enjoying this game over another because "my team wins"...that's silly. Both will end up being a pinnacle of their genre. If your fanyboyism goes beyond the "pony" / "green rat" memes, you're a loser. The "tribal mentality" which is real and you can see it clearly in this thread is really pathetic isn't it?
Honest opinions of any sort, as long as they're mildly dissenting don't get heard, they get instantly dismissed.
It's more like fragile egos that people misattribute to a product than anything.

oh man just STFU.These two paragraphs in the Gamespot review are giving me HFW vibes. Aggressive enemies? stunlocking? New mechanics impacting the flow of the combat?
TBH, this is exactly what I was worried about. When games feel the need to add stuff just for the sake of adding stuff, they end up breaking the balance they had spent so hard crafting in the original. Ascension had a similar issue, and more recently HFW.
The review does state that its not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, so hopefully its not as bad as HFW.
If it's sticking to the formula then it's not surprising at all it scores so highly, these types of games is like porn for game journalists.
I am expecting it to be another generic action movie game but people will eat it up.
That's it. Carefully cherry picked and photoshopped brightening screens are now incoming. You've done it now!oh man just STFU.
