Gran Turismo 5 |OT2| We Love Cars

My two big "projects" this weekend were buying ever car that can get RM, RM'ing it and then buying the original too. Then going into garage and changing each car # to 44, my favorite number. I also made archives of save games on my 4 profiles. I name the files when I copy them to my PC so I can "pop-on" a save and gift that car when I want. I have one save that has ticket 1000 which is fun to gift around. I also have a extensive archive of my main game save, so if I ever loose it, I only have to go back a day or so at most. I also bounce paint colors I like between my profiles so my main one can have multiples of my favorite colors.

I'm far too paranoid about having some kind of issue with my save file after investing 100+ in GT5 already. I see the logic behind your suggestion but I'm unwilling to take that risk. Plus, I think the Seasonable Events are the best races in the entire game, especially if you operate under the assumption that the restrictions are still in place.
Ditto. I'm too afraid that any future changes or even a corrupt replacer would compromise my game.

Its a bit faster buying several parts at the same time and then just change car and go to the items menu instead of changing car and going to tunning shop everytime

A part is compatible with every car ? Good to know...

brentech said:
That's actually pretty smart. And I wouldn't have to listen to that tuning shop music as often. Might have to just buy an assload of parts next time I go in there. I generally don't do weight reductions or 'engine tune' since they can't be undone.

Seriously never even thought about that idea.....<3
1970s porno flick music! I was so sick of listening to the songs you cant turn off, I shut off all musical audio, menus and race music.

Seriously, it's bad enough that it's the music they chose. To multiply the problem, they override your custom menu soundtrack because that trash just absolutely must be heard!

Another "wtf" decision.

Porno music and tuning go together like eggs and bacon.

Last resort, last beggin since I haven't gotten anybody to gift me a car And if this one fails there's no point in keeping it up ;P
I'll trade a pretty cool Dead Rising 2 avatar code for any 4mil+ car which isn't on the prize list besides the RBX1 which it'd obviously be ok hehe, any car thar is awesome to drive, premium but that CAN be used in A-spec (dunno, super Gt cars, rally, Le Mans endurance protoypes... Anything that is good and beautiful!) really, whatever you want is fine.
Just to to drive something I wouldn't have the chance to win myself otherwise :D.

PM me if you want the avatar code.
keep your Dead Rising 2 code, you can have an X1, an F10 or Mazda 787b. IMO, the F10 and Mazda 787b are more fun and immersive on a pad. The X1 comes off as being cartoonish at times, driving the 787b on LeMans, at night, I feel like I'm experiencing something far more genuine. The Mazda also sounds cooler than the other cars and unlike the F10, can be used in Aspec or bspec.

man, i am about fed up with the grinding. think i am going to wait until the next batch of seasonal events until i play this again. i am saving for a 787b at the moment but i am still like 2 mil away. also, how are you supposed to do that historic car race with the race cars. it seems like they are all 20 million. i'm having enough trouble getting the money for a 787b. oh well. guess i will just do seasonals from now on to get dough and put the game away otherwise. i cannot see myself doing that american series indy race 200 times or whatever it would take to buy the sweet ferrari. as for b-spec, i'm really not a fan.

The only feasible way of winning that race (outside of being a racing savant and winning with a RMed Z28 Camaro) is to win the Toyota 7 from the B-Spec "Like the Wind" events. The problem is that getting to that event is a terrible grind. Even with the Minolta (i.e. win button) it takes so freaking long just to get to level 20 in order to unlock it.

B-spec is such a waste of time. It's not real race management, and making it competitive by having your drivers use comparable cars would make the grind and bore last even longer.

Who at PD thought B-Spec was a good idea?! What were they smoking?!

Just don't buy anything, or very little, until you get to $20.000.000, then afterwards just backup your save everytime you want to buy an expensive car.

- Back up the save
- Buy car
- Gift it to a second account
- Restore save
- Gift the car back to you

Yeah, that's what I'm slowly working towards. Screw grinding for the cash, I have backups.

Just one license event to gold... and I can't even seem to get close to it. :(

It's IA-2, where you brake from stupid'o'speed down to f'all to make a corner at Circuit De Le Sarthe. Best time I've managed is still 0.15 seconds off.

Woo! Finally got the game :D Unfortunately, my internet is shut off and will be for the foreseeable future, so no online racing or updates for me :(

The third bonus round pulled me back in. :D Haven't played in a while, stupid X1 challenge is frustrating with a DS3. Kinda sucks to see that they've let the restrictions go, overshooting mods just a bit overpowered the races. Still loads of fun. Picked up a Super GT GTR and the Oreca Le Mans Peugot along the way, why not? The Nissan's driving position is a bit of a pain, switched to bumper cam after I was done drooling over the interior. Great car. Puegot is a bit unwieldy but quick. Same thing with the interior, gorgeous but I feel like I'm trapped in scuba gear. :lol

I was lucky enough to get a Castrol Mugen NSX but it's standard :(

The game has been out for a while. I hope they're planning to release DLC tracks and cars. I wouldn't mind Spa and some cars. They could create new events with DLC tracks.

I managed to score a decent one... can't remember what level it was, but it was the Ford Falcon XR8. Looks like arse as a standard car, but being Australian there's no way I'm doing anything to it other than driving it around. Such a beast.

I'm tempted to beg for clones of that car and any iteration of the X1, but I feel it might cheapen the game a little. I'm so close to hitting level 30 with my B-spec. I'm guessing that from there everything becomes a bit of a cakewalk?

Don't have a car of that caliber to gift, but you can get one yourself fairly straight forward, here's how:

* make enough money for a Corvette ZR1 (184,800 at the dealrship)
* race-mod it (either 280K or 380K, don't remember)

voila, you now have an easily GT2-class, more like a GT1-class car, that can stand against any of the racers in the 800K-1M price tier. Now, if you really want one of those racers, the simplest way to make enough for one while you're still at a low XP level, is to beat the final event in the professional series - do the championship version, that would give you 130K from golding the individual rounds, plus 130K as a final prize for golding the championship. So, at 260K a run, you can afford a purebred racer after about 4 runs, which is ~30-45 min of play time.

Alternatively, you can do the Bonus Race #3 from the Online Seasonal Events, for lots and lots of free cash - start with the first round - takes a Prius, and gives enough cash for buying the car for the next round, and so on - last one gives 1.5M in tax-free cash.
ps: if you want I can gift you a California'08, tag price of 236K, ~70K worth when pawned.

Thanks man, you put a lot of time in this reply, appreciated.
I have the Vette already, I'll tune it as you suggest but the point of my request is because I'd love to drive some of those special cars... I don't have that much time to invest on this game, I've bought it at launch, sometimes I can only play it a couple of hours in the weekend and I'm still level 22 a spec and 9 b-spec.
anyway, I'll definitely go and do the Bonus Races as you suggest, thanks a bunch!
One last thing: I often read how you guys leave you bspec drivers racing for hours and do something else in the meantime... How do you do that, If I don't baby sit mine,
even when he's so fast to lap other cars in the race, if I leave it alone when he's leading it by far, by the last lap he'd be going so slow to come in third.

PSN is TheGloomyPickle. Can't trade again until tomorrow night though.
Because he sent me a Toyota 7, fully tuned and broken in. Historic Racers was a cake walk with that car (though my burning hatred of the Chaparral 2j has not diminished. Burn in hell you dirty fan car!)

Thanks Gloomy! Need it back? I also have a Peugeot 908 (playstation blue) if you would prefer that.

I played Gran Turismo 5 yesterday. It's even more of an rpg than I would've thought. I get xp, level up + the normal prize cash, buying parts (equipement) new drivers license. I'm really digging the game structure. I wonder if I am liking it for the "wrong reasons". :)

Sounds like your driver is too mellow (cool). My best drivers are just on the hot side if the middle. If they see someone in their rear view mirror they start pulling away.

Can I borrow the Toyota 7 for the Historic race? :)

He's halfway between the beginning and the end of the red bar tho!

I find Super hot headed is best for Endurance. The driver drops from max cool real fast because of his super hot headed nature and it seems to last longer in the red as well. The faster he is to full red the faster he gets some brains to overtake at times...

It's great for set it and forget it.

ehhh.. little late to the party here... I have done all the seasonals (ok not the nascar on the ring, to hard on my old hands with a dualshock), done most of the licenses. So I had lots money and some cars.
Then I have finished the all Amateur, beginner and professional races. Have finished half of the expert series.. but I´m only level 24. And everytime I finish a race (in expert races) my Xp bar only moves VERY little.. feels like I have a freaking long time to level up again. what is missing for me..? or is the real xp in the extreme series (and endurance series, which I do not intend to drive)..?
ohh I haven´t tried many challenges yet (only some karting and a little nascar), do they award much Xp, or are they only good for a "challenge"..?

Btw.. what car (at a reasonable price) is good for the "Like the wind" races..? had a peak at the cars you race against, and seemed to be some serious competition in there..

I too found the game very fun (initially) but as you progress to the later levels, you find that the game becomes a grind and a chore to play. You have to redo events to simply boost your XP to qualify for the next one. But the special events are out now, so it shouldn't be so bad. B-Spec can go fuck itself though. Personally I dislike the structure of the 'game' though. PD needs to look at what made GT3 so fun to play. Also, I think they really should restrict the races. I like the way Forza does it with the Performance classes. Depending on how well you tune your car, your car is assigned to a different class. D, C, B, A, S, R1, R2, R3. Or something like that. So the events are limited to classes.

Mazda 787B will allow you to win the event with EASE. Buy it and add a turbo kit to it. Then watch it fly.

what does that car cost..? I only have around 1.8 million credits at the moment.. (bought way to many obscure cars:D )

I remember it from GT3.. loved it in that game..
