To enter the campaign I just select the button amd then click the other button? Surely I could still win in game items if Im not in jpn, right?
Yeah, pretty because of the way the xp curve works for both levels and weaponskill, short term it's probably good to invest slightly into some SRs that'll give you a quick powerboost so that you can kill some stuff which then lets you collect items to turn in for more stuff etc.
You probably want to have a longer-term gameplan though. It may be a little too early to say what element you want to main, especially with ~60 pulls coming up, but you'll probably want to start working your way to the minimum rank (I believe it's 30?) to start joining and leeching the magna raids (usually 3BP, currently 20BP for Tiamat, Yggdrasil, Leviathan, Colossus, Luminiera, Celeste.
All this does also require progression through the main quest. Thankfully, a good chunk of that is 0AP.
I feel the registration requirement isn't to keep foreigners out as much as it is to keep botting/alt army lottery tickets out.

Thanks for the advice. I'm a shameful casual who's been playing for a little over a year, spent some money on surprise tickets and 10-pulls occasionally, and managed to reach rank 79 with very little to show for it. In terms of characters I probably have enough of each element in SSR and SR to make a semi-viable team for any element, but I'm missing the crucial bit of decently farmed weapon grids because I keep flailing aimlessly through the game. Additionally, I'm much more familiar with the traditional elements rather than dark/light and because of this I have little experience using my dark characters.
Not even sure what sort of party to make from these characters:
- Lady Grey (SSR)
- Elize / Tales Event (SR)
- regular Danua (SR)
- Lucius (SR)
- Two different Lowains (bleh) (R)
- regular Lunaalu (R)
- Tanya (R)
- Stan / Boots & Blades Event (SR)
- Shao (SR)
- Yuri Lowell / Tales Event (SR)
- Zehel (R)
- Zaja (SR)
- Bakura (R)
- Luna / Shadowverse Event (SR) (looks too dangerous to experiment with at this point as she... gets stronger from killing off party members?)
I might be better off using my Altair/Yoda team and trying to glass cannon my way through the event with no elemental advantage. After all using the right element means little when your stats are shit.
Not to mention Light/Dark have this interesting quirk of extra damaging each other so maybe using the opposing element in this context isn't the smartest way to go if your setup isn't foolproof.
Anyway, too late to moan about it at this point. I'll just grind through the event and see what I can scrounge up.

Okay so it's been awhile since I played, and I want to actually get into this game.
I started around the time that there were free SSR pulls or something, I think it was sometime before the english translation came.
I redownloaded the game the other day and turns out I did link/backup my account so I still have everything.
I didn't do much besides story because I was extremely overwhelmed at the time, I was also working towards Dark Fencer (just need 1 more level in Arcana Dueler) should I post my character box or something? I'm quite sure what I should be doing right now.

That feeling when you see the rainbow crystal and it turns out to be a characterless SSR weapon... uuuh. 3rd limit break Lyria looks awesome. Bit weird that she doesn't attack but she has pretty good utility and well, double summon ain't nothing to sniff at I suppose.

Oh shiiiit got Juliet and also Dark Potato Gandalf. The page got hung up for a loong time and then the crystal was orange but I will take the result!
Characterless weapons were removed from the gacha last year. Its either 30 gold moons or you use the surprise ticket.
What is core for Dark these days? Vampy / DJ / Six ? S. Zoey / Vampy / DJ ? Because you'll get some mileage out of SSR Vira before you can make Six or spark/whale S. Zoey

Get to chp 24 as fast as possible.
Dont give up as you'll be pretty weak and low powered through much of the upcoming event content.

As a budding darkmemer let me offer my two cents on this. It really depends on the content but in general, Vira, S. Zoi, DJ , Six and Naru are always in the rotation for making your frontline. Not sure about Orchid since people are only just getting her, but it seems likely she will join the core rotation as well.
Raid sniping/busting (this include GW) or content that is easy enough for your grid level always defaults to an S. Zoi composition, usually paired with DJ for her passive buff and Naru for echos.
HL content might see Vira/Djeanne/Six coming into play because of that veil utility or Six's stacking damage that works better for longer fights.
I'm certain he was being facetious.
Haven't played since last year, but the free 10 draws have drawn me back in haha. Was building a wind team, but I pulled Katalina and Lancelot today and those look like two top notch characters so I might dab into water now. Is wind still performing extremely above water/fire? What weapon pool does water aim for? I know for wind it was a big portion of guns.

Of course, the current event yields light weapons. Which you know, all weapons are good weapons ! If you don't use them, use them as fodder or give them to your crew ship ! Don't look a gift horse in the mouth ! But I was sort of hoping stupidly that we would get weapons that would make it EASIER to tackle the boss

Did my free 10 pull, got Orchid, always good to get an SSR. But then I started to remember the insane grind that this game is...Just always an overwhelming number of things to do! Did they ever release an actual app of the game instead of the web interface?

which ever element you have the most characters for. I had like 3 or 4 light characters initially so I was committed, instead of playing a rainbow team.
Well, it's not that straight forward though. Some elements are easier than others to farm for.

In my rainbow experience fire and water are the toughest to farm since they only have one SSR attack up. Still haven't gotten a single Colossus cane to drop. Most people will say light and dark are the hardest to farm but I've definitely had an easier time with them.
Statistically light and dark are the hardest to grind magna grids for, they literally have lower drop chances than the base elements. Wind is considered the "easiest" because you can get a MLB Anat by grinding the casino, which is a nice boost, you also start out with a wind carbuncle IIRC. Which SSR's and Summons you get will influence this. Light is still the "best" element I believe, with Dark and Wind coming next. In the past the Light and Dark grind was a bit more appealing as you could use them for all the other elements. But with the games (sort of annoying if Im honest) change in direction to "rainbow" setups, you'll probably want a basic grid for all elements.

OK weird this legfest has given me two gold moons so far, both for characters that I did not have before legfest started. I don't suppose dark zeta's spear or Juliet's staff are worth anything...

It's mentioned in news under fan favorites poll results.
They're not 10 draw tokens in your crate, you just go to the normal draw as if you were going to spend mobacoins or whatever on a 10 pull and you'll see it says free.
So I've already missed two of them, that's a bummer considering I've spent plenty of time playing the game during legfest. I thought those 300 crystal draw tokens I somehow got as a reward were the event bonus, sigh.
