When you're driving around in GTA, what do you prefer: music or talk stations? I love the talk stations, so funny, but if V has custom soundtracks...

I'm a talk-station fan myself. Then again I'm the kind of person who spends more time listening to podcasts than music, so that probably has something to do with it.

Anyone here not going to play Saint Row IV because GTA is coming out in less than a month? I have an itch to buy it because I heard they made a great PC port but I don't wanna jump into a open world game like this and then GTA. Maybe I'm just a weird.

I already passed over SC Blacklist and SR4 for GTA V. Only one open world game at a time for me and I only got two or three $60 games a year. My first was Tomb Raider, second was TLOU. I rarely finish open world games (or the story at least), too easy to get side tracked. And with the incredible new stuff in V, I know I'll never see the end.

But then again I'm the kind of gamer who loves to explore. I walked across RDR, I walked across Skyrim, and I still love walking through downtown Liberty City. So it's going to be absolutely to explore GTA V's world with the trio, go hunting and hiking, etc.

I'm playing SR4 right now, and they couldn't be more different, honestly. I've put about 12 hours in so far, and I've only used vehicles for maybe 10 minutes, 90% of my kills are sprint --> crazy melee, and most of the missions have been fairly simple affairs bolstered by the writing and the situational craziness. GTAV is going to be a completely different beast. I don't really care about the city in SR4 apart from the buildings being obstacles for my superhero platforming. This scratches a totally different itch.

Okay question about minor thing: will we be able to sit down on like benches and stuff? I love to people-watch in open world games or just take in the views, especially in GTA

I'm only playing games that aren't long or don't require a lot of time. I've been playing a lot of Payday 2 actually. Getting ready for the whole Heists thing. I have nothing against the SR series but I can't get immersed in them like I can in GTA. Rockstar knows how to create a living, breathing world.

Both but I usually lean more towards talk stations. Lazlow all the way. Especially because they're unique to each game. Songs you can listen to anywhere. But a lot of times I will bounce between music and talk.

Same. Mixing it up between that and MP3 multiplayer, just to get my shooting skills top notch :)

I got it from Redbox. Pretty dull so far. Volition's humour is still nonexistent and the mechanics are the definition of average. Nothing bad, but nothing too exciting. And the simulation copy-and-paste city from Saints Row 3 is a real drag. Probably going to return it this weekend.

But it's super different from GTA, so you probably won't feel too burned out if you decide to play it.

Music during missions, talk radio when I'm just exploring / messing around.

Yeah, especially the bolded. Steelport is one of the most uninteresting cities in any open world game. Still, I'm having a lot of fun with SR4, but it definitely is completely different from GTA now.

edit: Although I'm pretty sure the Reggae station in SR4 borrows more than a few songs from K-Jaw West.

Those golf photos are likely the promotional photos of the golf course and you can't actually hire strippers to do that with you in the actual game. It's the "in world advertising" for the golf course.

But knowing GTA, they'll probably working on the courses. The info did say they hired two women...

Some people on GTAForums are browsing some of the leaked GTA V Pre-Load files from yesterday. They've found some of the games (licensed) Soundtrack.

One of the tracks confirmed?
Aphex Twin - Windowlicker

EDIT: People are starting to try and rip all the audio files now. Even the cutscene ones. So beware of spoilers

Funny, I always thought Stilwater was way more bland and boring than Steelport. The problem with SR games is they don't seem to put enough... something. The pedestrians seem dull and it doesn't seem alive. It literally seems like just a sandbox for you to fuck around in which is cool if you're into that.

I am so hyped. I officially got my week off approved. I will be hanging out with my friend that Monday, then we're headed to the midnight launch and I will not be sleeping. Playing all through the night. I will not be bothered, I will not be interrupted.

Stilwater didn't do much for me until SR2. It's still not a very good city, but I felt it had some personality to it which Steelport completely lacks for me.

It's certainly that now. The powers and abilities in IV throw any sense of progression or normality right out the window. You're overpowered from the start and cars and pedestrians are a distant memory after a few hours.

Fine for some people that are into that, but I got bored. The game has little left to show me since the city is a dull "simulation" or whatever and I have zero interest in any story written by Volition.

Going dark as I can.

Time to kick ass on the OT.

EDIT: Please keep all spoilers for V (even tagged) out of this thread. I want this to be a safe haven.

Anyone else getting more curious about how the heist planning works? I guess it can't be too complex that we can't figure it out but it can't be too simple that all it really boils down to is who we hire. I wonder if there's preset options to choose from or if it's similar to Rainbow Six tactical planning like plotting points of who goes where, what they do, etc. I'm leaning strongly to the preset options thing.

From what I've seen (I'm tagging incase someone hasn't seen the trailers or a breakdown of the trailers:

- You have to prep for them, ie: get weapons, vehicles, disguises
- There are two options: loud/fast and smart/stealth.
- Loud is high risk, high reward but if you fuckup you get less money and more police attention.
- Ability to hire mercs provides help but the better ones cost more $$$, reducing your cut. There are weapons specialists, drivers, and tech specialists.

I'm curious if there are more options as they become more complex.

I meant in the planning room. You get all this stuff ready then choose how you want to go in. Assuming you choose stealth, I wonder what the planning options are.

GTA V | OT | After 5 years on the East Coast, It's Times to go Home

Make it happen!!!

Given the extreme polarity of opinions towards IV, we can even add a bit of sarcasm to that phrase. It would be more or less like

GTA V | OT | After 9 years in limbo, It was time to go home.

Nah, GTA V | OT | After 5 years on the East Coast, It was time to go Home it´s just too perfect to waste it.

Think I'll give my connects a call in another week and see about getting it early. Always a different beast with major games like GTA.

I'm sure this is known already. It was mentioned on GTA V o'clock, I believe, but if you watch the online gameplay video, the sequence showing off the creator shows someone placing weapons. It specifically shows "1/50" weapons that can be placed. So that could possibly mean there's at least 50 weapons in the game. The next sequence shows vehicles being placed, "1/25". Now we know there's 200+ vehicles in the game. If this is anything to go by could that mean there's more than 50 weapons? Or maybe this specific scenario can only hold a limit of 50 weapons.

Each GTA game until now has had around 10-15 guns, just guns. I did that count from memory so I could be off. I was thinking about this last night and the sheer jump in the arsenal is impressive. I always wanted more guns. I'm so excited. I have to imagine there's some form of weapon storage. Especially since you can customize them. You can customize a vehicle and save it, even pay for insurance to get it back. I have to imagine there's at least storage for weapons. Since there's so many you may not want to use the same ones all the time but want to keep them aside for later. Also, If you're gathering weapons to prep for a heist they must be stored somewhere unless that's all just part of a scripted mission. Which brought me to my next sequence of thoughts.

I wonder if heists are separate missions around the map. Or are they confirmed to be story missions? For example, you drive to the planning room, and that gives you the option to choose a big heist and to unlock it you have to complete a part of the story then the branches of prep missions for the heist will be unlocked and once you've done those you can perform the heist? Or is it all sequential missions within the story? Can you not prep if you didn't want to and just run in guns blazing with three guys? Do we have that freedom to choose? You can go in "loud and dumb" but that doesn't necessarily mean you didn't purchase/steal items for the heist. Now missions are replayable so I just assume we can perform the heists any time which I really like. However, if they are just story missions at first, I wish once we completed a heist we can just unlock it as a side mission or something, activate it, choose how you want to prep so if you want different getaway vehicle this time you can do another little mission to go get one then perform the heist again. I just want to rob everything.

Back in the November preview I believe Rockstar confirmed a dynamic/side mission involving robbing armored vehicles. Just going by past games, I'm assuming we just jack if off the road and drive it to a safehouse. With the ambition in this game I'm really hoping we can at least pull it over or something or hold it up similar to the opening sequence in heat. Or maybe not even steal the truck, just whatever is in the back. Then again that's very similar to the "Blitz Play" mission that was previewed so who knows.

It simply means you can put only 50 weapon pickups in this custom scenario. Doesn't tell us anything about the amount of different weapons in the game.
