They matched sections of the Electric Dreams Unreal Engine demo. Wow.
I remember people saying this wouldn't be done.
Maybe I’m missing something but it does NOT look like this to me.

Avatar looks good but that UE5 jungle demo is levels higher in terms of detail and lighting than the best looking areas from Avatar. It looks better than the Electric Dreams demo they released on the Unreal Engine store. It looks slightly more cartoony in terms of lighting where as Electric Dreams is going for a more photorealistic look, but the level of detail is much higher here. And there are times where some of the distant trees look virtually identical to the ones in the electric dreams demo. I know Massive used Quixxel for Division. I wonder if they are using the same quixel assets to create their procedural forest. lol
I am very excited to go to the sky islands and see this area from one the trailers which has a less cartoony and far more photorealistic look compared to other areas in the game.
Also the tech director did an interview with Alex and talked about mesh shaders and RTGI on twitter. This game just might be even more technically advanced than UE5.

Yes, this is the problem I’m running into. Theres a lot of forestry and density - but the assets/materials and light - I dunno what it is, but it has an almost last gen look at points. That soft/cgi type quality the best looking games have achieved this gen is absent here. I assume this is the engine being somewhat older? This demos smoke that Avatar game; I'm seeing way more bounces of light. Avatar looks like a PC game to me from like the year 2010-2011, like a souped up late Unreal Engine 3 title.
In the newer games especially from this year, you got materials physically having much more accurate response to light along with characters/objects having a more granular level of shades that are absent in the Avatar game, it looks straight up old to me.
People comparing Avatar to that UE demo, WTF lmao. I'm tired to read so much hyperbole here tbh.
But Ive played that demo on my PC. I even posted a video of it here. The level of detail in the foliage is way ahead of that demo. The trees are roughly the same quality.Avatar looks good but that UE5 jungle demo is levels higher in terms of detail and lighting than the best looking areas from Avatar.

I think you guys are getting confused by the lighting style, not the actual lighting quality. Like I said, I am going to wait till I get to the sky islands where the lighting seems to be a match for the Electric Dreams demo but the current forest simply has a different lighting style which is more cartoony and thus makes you think its somehow inferior. I bet someone releases a reshade which makes the game look more realistic, less cartoony and people will see the difference immediately.
There is just so more going on in the first Avatar forest it's insane. The Electric Dreams demo is basically some narrow corridors with samey trees on the sides and some rocks in the middle. In Avatar, foliage is EVERYWHERE. It's unique, varied, and chalk full of detail.

Yeah, the lighting is more cartoony in Avatar like I said. Thats why i posted that gif from the e3 trailer. That area has different more cg quality lighting.I’m sorry but even that video you just posted looks beyond avatar. Avatar is way denser but it doesnt look right, it doesn’t have that cgi-like quality that the demo you’re showing has. The plants and stuff may be more varied in avatar but they don’t look like that level of detail. And the water looks bad in Avatar. Maybe on PC it’s a diff thing tho.
Fuck me sideways so i wasn't wrong, the fucking chipmunk is voicing my main character...I'm sure Avatar look great but theres simply no way I'm paying $100 for that shit.
I was out as soon as I heard the Miles actor from SP2 voicing the main character in a video
No the water is pretty underwhelming even on pc.I’m sorry but even that video you just posted looks beyond avatar. Yeah, during cutscene tlou2 is close if not better, except for the hairs and probably the lights.
R* needs to release Hi Res, 4K screenshots. I want to compare properly.
But looks like ND is sitll the cutscene king.
I kinda disagree here, TLOU's cutscene is amazing but it does look a tad bit gamey WHEN compared to the GTA6 one which could easily pass as a real life picture!

Dude try fsr3 with framegen and tell me if the iq is much worse compared to dlss quality in 4k.Yeah, the lighting is more cartoony in Avatar like I said. Thats why i posted that gif from the e3 trailer. That area has different more cg quality lighting.
Right now, im mostly talking about the sheer density and variety of foliage and the quality of the trees.
I think gta6 looks more gamey, tlou2 has a more realistic color palette imo.I kinda disagree here, TLOU's cutscene is amazing but it does look a tad bit gamey WHEN compared to the GTA6 one which could easily pass as a real life picture!
Compare Joel to the dude in GTA6. He looks straight up CG while Joel looks video gamey.

Joel is a bad example, i told you that he look off and gamey, callisto dude looks like a real person, and real persons beat cg (whatever you mean by cg, sure as hell not movie quality cg)Compare Joel to the dude in GTA6. He looks straight up CG while Joel looks video gamey.
Ellie beats Lucia though.
That's why I said TLOU looks a tad bit gamey because of Ellie's skin tone which looks a bit waxy if that makes sense. But what you said is also true, that hillbilly blonde chick in the mud was impressive as fuck. I saw a clip yesterday going over some of GTA6's details and it was said this could possibly be the first time we ever see an NPC rolling out their tongue. I am not sure if that was Lucia in the bikini they're saying it aint, but it was impressive but yeah not as impressive as the other parts of the game.I think gta6 looks more gamey, tlou2 has a more realistic color palette imo.
The scene with the blonde in the mud was the most impressive cutscene of the trailer or when sofia turn toward the camera when she is facing a window.
When she is in bikini, she looks gamey af.
That is probably the social media filter, like a film grain to mask flaws and make everything look more realistic, but yeah, it looked impressive. That's why I said TLOU looks a tad bit gamey because of Ellie's skin tone which looks a bit waxy if that makes sense. The most impressive part in GTA6 for me was when they were showing Karen with two hammers being filmed on a smartphone, that shit looked way too real!
Nah. That tlou2 scene looks better stillI kinda disagree here, TLOU's cutscene is amazing but it does look a tad bit gamey WHEN compared to the GTA6 one which could easily pass as a real life picture!
Yes, the beach scene was by far the most impressive. I also like the night scene of the city from above, that shit looked hella good. But yes the beach one takes the cake for me!That is probably the social media filter, like a film grain to mask flaws and make everything look more realistic, but yeah, it looked impressive.
The shot on the beach with the sheer number of npcs doing different shit was the most impressive of the whole trailer, and not necessarely for the graphic, if they have to downgrade something, it's gonna be that fucking beach.
In 10 years devs are gonna use IA to generate different npcs with different animations and voice acting and everyone is gonna reach this level, for now it look like an absurd amount of work and money.
Could be that scene in GTA6 was actually realtime or in-engine or whatever they call it vs ND's pre-rendered? do we know if ND's cutscenes were real time or not?Nah. That tlou2 scene looks better still
Well, joel in the remake is their PS5 only attempt so its a fair comparison to Rockstars PS5 only attempt.Joel is a bad example, i told you that he look off, callisto dude looks like a real person, and real persons beat cg (whatever you mean by cg, sure as hell not movie quality cg)
Nd is real time too. Just cutscene just as much as most in this trailerCould be that scene in GTA6 was actually realtime or in-engine or whatever they call it vs ND's pre-rendered? do we know if ND's cutscenes were real time or not?
Part 1 Remake cutscenes are a lot worse than Part 2 thoughWell, joel in the remake is their PS5 only attempt so its a fair comparison to Rockstars PS5 only attempt.
Like alloush says, the faces in TLOU and TLOU2 look gamey in comparison to the GTA6 duo who have this CG (cyberpunk CG) quality feel to them. Maybe its the lighting but i think the skin shaders here are way higher quality.
No, of course not, I don't like to get personal, it's just stupid when it gets personal and you don't know the person well, especially for a video game. But I've seen people saying CP is meh or any other negative remarks and it just boggles my mind. Nice to see you really appreciate the graphics.I know you werent directly talking to me, but I'm not trying to say C2077 looks bad now. As I said, it will still looks better than GTA VI in some instances (probably, can tell the future) due to PT.
And to me it was top 1 in terms of graphics in 2023 with Phantom Luberty
Disagree, sofia still look cartoony and not better than ellie at all except the hairs, and we haven't seen a good full frontal face from the dude, it doesn't look any better than the best faces we had till now, i have no idea where you see any cg.Well, joel in the remake is their PS5 only attempt so its a fair comparison to Rockstars PS5 only attempt.

Yeah GTA has its own distinct art style which is not aiming for a realistic look. As far as graphical fidelity goes the models look to be at a similar level. The CG (as in pre-rendered) comment is probably down to the post processing?Joel is a bad example, i told you that he look off and gamey, callisto dude looks like a real person, and real persons beat cg (whatever you mean by cg, sure as hell not movie quality cg)

I don't know, there's something that I really don't like about Avatar, can't explain, it's really colorful on some scenes with the vegetation and vistas look really nice, like at 2:26, but at the same time sometimes it looks a bit boring and all looks samey which I know, that's that world, but yeah, that's my take. From what I've seen, SM2 at its highs looks better than Pandora at its highs.Yeah can we all agree that this and Alan Wake 2 are 1A/1B best graphics this year and this gen?
Or are people still doubting?
