Graphical Fidelity I Expect This Gen

True. Thats what my gripe is though that it isnt interactive. Ive wanted interactive voxel based fluid dynamics for like 23 years now. Where so close and it hurts. Arkham is the only series where they have actually implemented it well. Problem is the tech doesnt scale up without well devouring huge amounts of precious scarce memory.
Zelda tokt has interactible fog...

I know it's not as heavy as smoke, but if a switch 1 can do it, every console can do it.
 
Ya know ive been playing some old school ps2 via Pcsx2 lately and man old school ragdoll is some fun ass shit. Wouldnt mind the industry adopting a hybrid approach.
I'm ok with both goofy and realistic (although i prefer realistic).

Just be inside the game in some way.

Gifcam. its fairly simple. open gifcam and put it on top of the video, and hit record.

the trick is getting HDR videos to work well, and making sure 4k videos look nice when scaled down. scale it down too much and it adds shimmering and jaggies, and if you dont, you end up with 50-100 mb gifs.

I fear that all the tech the game is gonna have is gonna push euphoria behind another time, like they don't have room for an actual evolution that is even harder on the system.

Gta5 and rdr2 already had de-powered euphoria that you could fix with mods.

Hopefully i'm wrong but i would not hold my breath.


I don't know if it is the same thing in term of requested power, but you people know i'm playing that medieval 1vs1 game called half sword where the devs created their own faux-euphoria engine for their game (and after 200 hours with the demo i can confirm that it beat euphoria in some aspects like the absolute unpredictability of the ai when they get hit, you can play this game for 1000 hours and still see new animations made on the fly and ai reacting differently, it's kinda nuts), well this game is not even out in early access, it's just a small demo but you can already see the hints of a future booming success if everything goes accordingly (hyper active subreddit, lot of famous streamers playing it, relatively big youtube scene for a "silly" looking game, etc.).

Why i'm saying this? Because these dudes know that turning the game into a multyplayer title would make them 100x times the money than just leaving it single player against the cpu, well they made a video on yt where they made it clear that they asked advice to some of the biggest heads in some of the biggest multyplayer games around the industry (they made names but i can't remember) to make a multyplayer mode...it turns out, their faux-euphoria is too advanced to have a multyplayer counterpart that feels exactly like the single player, they are trying with all their might but they are extremely pessimist about succeeding.

Now, i don't know if turning single player to multyplayer is the same amount of work than just making it work in single player but apparently even an advanced animation system has some complications.

Maybe it's absolutely unrelated, but if you consider that rockstar make the big money in multyplayer, there is a chance that euphoria is not gonna be at his best because it's too heavy to do all the math and calculations for ai and collisions or whatever bullshit for the multyplayer part.

Also rockstar is much bigger than an indie studio so they probably have more solutions but it make you question if they didn't handycapped their euphoria in their past games to make it run online...

There is no Euphoria anymore (sadly). After Rockstar acquired the company, they made euphoria a part of their rage engine.
Tomato tomato, we still hope for an evolution since euphoria feel different between gta4, rdr1, mp3, gta5 and rdr2, so there has been evolution and changes.

We know that only rockstar can use it.

Finally wrapping up Wuchang, far from flawless, but its crazy what UE5 allows debut studios with mid budget to do. China has been stepping up big time to fill up the graphics void left by most AAA devs.

No because it didn't had a precise evolution trajectory.

Some things are better in mp3, some in gta4, some in rdr1 some in rdr2, some in the first star wars game, gta5 probably being the one with the worst version (their most succesful games ironically).

But all the versions are similar enough to call them variations of 1.0, a big evolution could definitely be called 2.0.

It's just nerd semantics.

Hopefully the physics and the animation system don't require the same type of computational power.

There is really no reason for rockstar to downgrade euphoria if not for lack of power.

huge scope, interactivity, particles and absence of pop in (maybe) seems to be the strong points of the title over detailed textures and models that are just ok\good.

It really,undoubtedly look like a videogame ass graphic.

Going from playing delta maxed out to watch this was a huge whiplash.

See I don't mind something like this looking gamey - the graphics are still better than most games out. If a game does more than most other games in terms of interactivity, world, etc - then I'm cool with the graphics taking a slight hit. GTA6 somehow avoids this but that's apparently a 2 billion dollar budget

Yup, that builds hella immersion combined with this lvl of graphic fidelity, i think what GTA6 will provide us with will be roughly on the lvl next gen only AAA blockbusters on avg will look like, so assuming both next gen consoles will be out by holidays 2027 (according to the leaks)and till 2030 we gonna get crossgen period(yuck), games from 2030 onwards from more "normal" dev studios with AAA but not crazy budgets will be able to achieve that :)

Another thing we gotta remember about is- gta5 had tons of scalability, gta6 will likely have that too.

Yeah sometimes there is that low fidelity stuff like the airplane that look like ps4 material.

But the average is pretty high, clothes are SHARP.

Hairs are also ps4-ish.

Shadows, veilguard, fifa etc. Do better.

Gonzito Gonzito don't spoil the boss face dude, i wanna see the pain first in my screen, i'm a sucker for good body horror.

Tbf Crysis 3 looks crazy good for its age and is pretty well optimised. Shame Crytek has been in such a poor state, would love to see them push graphics again, they always seemed ahead of the curve visually.
 


This shit is going to be insane. The Beta has unmatched War atmosphere. Cannot wait to dive into the campaign first before everything else.

Wish it had RT options, but looks good still. Curious what the SP will be like. Beta was crazy fun though, been way too long since we've had a good battlefield game.
 
If you play MGS DELTA, definitely play it with DLSS4. Looks so much better. Insane how sharp and detailed everything looks. You can zoom in during cutscenes with left trigger and everything remains sharp and detailed af

I have always felt out of touch with the mainstream gaming audience, but nowadays i feel more alienated than ever. Why dont we like good graphics anymore? Who gives a shit if the bloom is gone? We HATED bloom 20 years ago. It looks better than the CG pachinko cutscenes.
I'd still say that the first image is more artistically pleasing than the second one, inferior graphics aside.

First of all you need to use these configurations to unlock the 60 FPS lock, enable Ultrawide and Frame Generation with Reflex:

It runs very smooth and looks very good, especially all these details in the enviroment.

No developer should be ok with putting this out on a next gen console. looks like sony has caught the nintendo bug. or maybe Japan in general. lets not forget FF7 Rebirth looked like an abortion after a stunning late gen title in FF7 remake. Platinum made arguably the most despicable and disgusting looking game of all time in bayonetta 3. A visual rape. From has been going backwards since bloodborne being carried solely by their art team. Donkey Kong is from Nintendo's A team that made Mario Odyssey and looks like it was made by the C team at an indian studio run by scammers. Death Stranding 2's lack of next gen visuals i can excuse because kojima was literally going blind after getting covid. But Rise Of Ronin? It probably blinded people with its ugly trees.

Thank god for Capcom embracing ray tracing and hair physics this gen. RE9 looks decent at least, and Pragmata simply looks phenomenal. Other than these guys, everyone else sucked even more than Sony first party studios.
