Graphical Fidelity I Expect This Gen

There is so much truth to it.
I got a steam refund after playing ~80 minutes, didn't really like the gameplay, and was nitpicking about the occasional graphic hiccups.
On the other hand, there are so many set pieces that look absolutely gorgeous with PT that I'm considering a rebuy just to please my inner graphics whore for the moment.
Fuck me, I have to stay strong! haven't even finished Yotei yet :messenger_grimmacing_
It's a great game and well worth sticking with and yes it looks fantastic, obviously the Path-traced PC version is attainable for you on your setup?

hellblade 2 and death stranding 2 have better character models. I'd say this is on par with tier 2 games like Callisto, Silent Hill 2 (james and laura), TLOU2, Horizon FW etc. But John's gotta John and create a clickbait topic out of nowhere.

i do think people online are falling for those path traced GAMEPLAY character models which do look better than most other games especially DS2 during gameplay. It's the Aloy hero lighting effect. People are finally seeing cutscene quality character models during gameplay and are losing their minds.
I think that Silent Hill 2, TLOU2 and Horizon have better character models in cutscenes. If we're talking about gameplay, that yeah, RE is on par, maybe better sometimes.

Not only John, everyone there. They're oblivious or pretend for whatever reason, like it's nothing wrong to just point out obvious flaws and issues even if the good is really damn good or you're a fan of the game, dev or whatever.
yep, though i hope these screenshots show what i was talking about earlier when it comes to asset quality in racoon city. its just not up to par with UE5 games. The lighting saves Raccoon city.
Exactly, asset quality is really low sometimes and not only in Raccoon and below UE5 and others I would argue.

I can't relate to that, I'm loving the game despite some BS stuff that's part of RE.

I don't have a problem critiquing a game I like, hell, it could be my favourite of all time, if something is shit, well I'm pointing it out and it is what it is.

That's because it doesn't use SSR lol
It was planar the whole time?

Yes, 7800x3D + 4070Ti Super, so I should be fine.
During my initial test, it was a bit janky, with some stutters and slowdowns here and there.
But that was probably caused by the latest Nvidia drivers I had installed, which was a mistake, retrospectively. I really dislike PC gaming issues these days.
However, it shall be done, I'll download it again for the weekend, FFS, YOLO!

The character models in requiem peak extremely early with the black dude, leon and maybe the child but they are still not the best of the best of the best, the kinda stiff facial acting compared to the best in the business does a disservice to the models, they would sing in the hands of kojima or ND.

But the game as an overall package looks marvelous and you people know how nitpicky i am, i can literally pin point every slimy's double-orgasm for each location and setpieces.

I don't see anyone beating this one for graphic of the year, gta6 is gonna do much better under the hood, same for crimson and probably fable, but GRAPHIC wise, this is probably unbeatable for any open world, it packs too much details in the locations (except one that look almost unfinished)
Atomic heart 2 could be the black horse but i really don't think so.

This bode well for ILL, the graphic in that game is not that impossible to imagine anymore, only the destruction and physics and damage model seems vastly superior.

How the FUCK can you go from wilds and smegma 2 to...this? 🥲

Wow guys. This is truly the most impressive looking graphics I've ever seen on PS3!! Can't wait to see what PS4 can do!!
This is the ugliest zone in the game and it still look pretty decent, look at the details in the brick walls.

Cars\trucks and some other things show the geometry limits without nanite but the textures are almost always on point.

The funny thing is that pic 1, 4 and 6 still look pretty good to me :lollipop_grinning_sweat:
Good is something I'd barely even say with PT enabled for large parts of RC, with raster it's just ugly to my eyes despite the assets actually not being bad at all. The artstyle died on the way to that level just to rise like phoenix from the ashes in the next.

You're playing a 120hz mode on budget hardware. What exactly do you expect?
That's funny because I just loaded up the same area with ray tracing on. Doesn't look much better. It honestly looks like Killzone 3 on PS3 or maybe even The Last of Us on PS3. There's barely any detail. The flat lighting doesn't help, but I can't help but to think there's hardly anything going on here. There's no puddles, everything is the same level of shininess. I know it's all rust and brick, but I've seen much better scenes than this that have rust and brick and packed with way more density and detail.

Are we just talking about the path traced version? All versions are the same apart from resolution and lighting difference's. Compare the models to other games and yes they're good but not the best and same with the environment's.

It's obviously the new game syndrome in effect here, not taking anything away from it but it's just a better looking Resident Evil game not next benchmark in video game's.

Even this area look decent with PT

Yeah Requiem can look really good, RE Engine is delivering once again. Anyone has a good preset recommandation for DLAA in this game? There is some ghosting and I would love to get the best IQ. Unfortunately none of my test has been truly conclusive so far :messenger_pensive:
Anyway can't help but post some screens

lol im a simple man. give me a good chase setpiece and i will give you a 10.

As for why wilds and dogma 2 dont look as good, well, no path tracing and open world. Path tracing mod for dogma 2 is insane even without a denoiser.

I told you guys to download the Pragmata demo. It doesnt even have path tracing support (it will be in the retail version) and it already looks stunning wtih great reflections, hair rendering, materials and pristine IQ. I was running it at 4k DLAA on my 5080 with rt on and everything maxed out. With Path tracing, i will probably be around DLSS 4k quality, but i can only imagine how good it will look. RE Engine just looks better in smaller areas.

i think atomic heart and ILL will be like that High on Life 2 trailer. Fake trailers made to look like gameplay.

I think 50% of their visual budget went into this fucking car. Nothing compares to this in the game.

All in all, Raccoon can look pretty good sometimes, even amazing, but it's all thanks to the lighting.

It's crazy how temporally stable and good this game looks at 5760x2400 with PT. There's no shadow map flickering, there's no LOD pop-in issues (except maybe the odd zombie from time to time. Everything just looks ridiculously good. Such a massive step up from RE8, and even RE4R.

Nvidia announced on twitter that they have pushed out a hotfix for Resident Evil requiem that will be auto applied when you install the latest drivers.

I did a before and after test with the first level on the street, and went from 44 fps all the way up to 60 fps. Sometimes it dips down to 54 fps when i am surrounded by a lot of people, but it was never even close to hitting 60 fps and now it regularly hits 60 fps in that area.

Told you. Rpd saves racoon city.
Yeah, maybe I am a bit too critical, (it's this thread's fault, lol) but still think it was exaggerated by DF with the characters, still think the assets and geometry are overall lower in quality after the hospital till after RPD.

But the lighting, this fucking lighting and how it enhances the materials can save a bit even the crappiest scene in Raccoon.

It's also a good game, I just wish it had more environment interactivity. Nothing fancy, just you know break at least some glasses and bottles. I mean, even the zombie dismemberment is gone and the ragdoll is downgraded.

The porsche and Leon`s watch are actually the results of business collabs so that model was either provided by Porsche themselves or they at least had people looking Capcom over the shoulder on that one. That`s why its quality stands out like that.

I beg to differ, on Overkill settings on PC in multiplayer, it looks very "next gen" at times.
I'm at 4k overkill DLAA. Basic limited lighting, crappy LODs with obvious pop-in and average material work. The models themselves seem quite basic too with low res textures and limited polycounts. The reflections are crap with basic cubemaps and mediocre ssr. The scale and sense of chaos is great with good effects work, but on a technical level it's firmly last gen.

I think they missed a trick here. I understand a game like this needs to be 1440p 60 fps on consoles to ensure you can see enemies clearly during multiplayer in densely packed environments like this, especially with all that destruction. However, no reason why you cant have another RT mode on the Pro and a Path Tracing/Ray Tracing mode on PCs. Capcom is showing everyone how to scale up without sacrificing resolution on consoles.

Have you seen all the praise EA and DICE got from this game being able to run even on the most basic of potatoes "while still looking amazing"?
I think it's probably fair to say the Battlefield franchise won't go back to being graphical tech champion anytime soon after 6 sold so much.

Agree that the scale and sense of chaos is really good when you're actually playing and not pausing to look too closely at anything. But it's definitely a last-gen game. Maybe not last gen to the point where it could have been made to run well on a PS4, but firmly rooted in a last-gen visual makeup... maybe pushed a bit into current-gen territory in some respects but not thanks to using any modern techniques. I was surprised the visuals weren't pushed any harder in the campaign. CoD usually does this. But the campaign was uglier than the multiplayer a lot of the time.

I'm glad they finally nailed a technically competent launch but I wish it could scale higher, after the standard set by previous entries. BF1, BFV, and even BF2042 all have aspects that impress me more than BF6.

RE9 looks better than Indiana Jones in almost every way possible, PT helped IJ it was still well below fidelity of RE9 (in my opinion):

Yeah agreed, but I'm happy they've actually managed to put out a competent battlefield finally. They can build off this in the future and perhaps have a bit more ambition visually, but I am very happy to finally have battlefield back. (more large maps though would be great)

FH6 looks to have the densest map in the series, not just the biggest. The city alone looks to be near a full sized playground, rather than the more condensed ones of previous entries. No more Xbox One limitations holding anything back, it seems!
