bought and and started it, once i learned that it was vita compatible (at least thru transfer from ps3).

so far, from the little i played so far, i'm liking it. the combat system seems like it could be very interesting and deep at first glance (with a limited RTS feel to it). i'll prob play more tomorrow...as soon as i'm done balancing the 5 other games i'm working on <.<

Can someone with a PS3 and a Vita do me a favor, can you buy the game, and the download it in the Vita using purchases history? I'm trying to see if the game can be bought using media go, then transferred to the Vita using this method.

You can't download it through the Download List on the Vita. It just says something like this content is not compatible or whatever that standard message is.

Random out-of-the-blue NPC conversations are nothing new in JRPGs, but somehow this game takes it to the next level when you talk to NPCs in houses:

*polite knock*
*lady opens door*
"I'm worried about my child's future!"
*lady closes door*

OK then, thanks for sharing!

is beloved, despite what anyone might say
Went and picked up a copy last nite, had to go to a few stores before I finally found one in stock, and it was the last one, sold as "Gamestop New". Just a warning if anyone wants to pick this up retail, and didn't preorder.

Haha, yeah, that cracks me up.

I played about and hour and really like it so far. It's definitely a slow burn at the beginning, but I enjoy how the battle system is slowing growing more complex. My favorite aspect so far is def. the anime cut scenes. They are so well done. I hope they remain as frequent throughout the whole game -- it seems like one pops up at just the right time to add some intrigue.

I'm pretty sure that playing the previous games is unnecessary. Growlanser IV is a stand alone story.

I'm enjoying the game so far, but it just doesn't have that classic Growlanser feel without Tipi hollering "OK!" and "Save-chuu!" all the time.

Finnaly managed to buy it. Played for an hour or so, and I am loving it already. Can't wait to get back to it, sadly I will have to leave it for some time though.

No one wants a throne you've been sitting on!
I remember the first time I saw Tipi made me want to buy / did buy a Growlanser game.

Funny, first time I played III, I loathed Raimi, but loved her on NG+.

Post-second cutscene spoilers.

DIXOOOONN!! :(

I sure know how to pick my avatars, don't I?

I've already played 13 hours. This game is good! I really like the addition Tricia and Pamela.

Are people going for Mission Complete or just Clears the first time around? Is it like GL2 or something where if you got all completes it would affect the story?

Somehow playing this makes me feel a little nostalgic. Haven't played a Growlanser game in a bit, so I feel a little rusty, but I'm having fun. Just finished the prologue and I'm liking what I've played and read so far.

There are times where I'm wishing for voices, though.

Bought today off of PSN for my Vita and am loving it so far. The artwork and music are great and I really like the battle system so far. I am soooo glad this turned out to be Vita compatible from day 1. Best gaming surprise in a long while!

Completes, though I think I already missed one since I wasn't paying attention for the early missions.

Edit: As for the story bit, I want to say no but I'm not 100% positive on that.

Just got this. Playing it in my PSP.

So, how many ladies that can be romanced in this game?

Edit: just checking out wiki: 16????? O_O That's quite a lot...
and Pamela is one of them sweet

install improved my UMD play. screen transitions are faster in town and i don't notice the slight loading for bogus voice acting anymore.

I think I missed one so far too. Trying to get completes out of habit.

I heard this is the hardest GL game to get completes on for, though (it doesn't seem too bad so far, tbh, but I might be taking those words back later on). All you have to do is make sure people don't die, make sure the enemies don't meet their objective (ex: leaving the field, getting to the town, etc), and make sure there's a lot of timer left. I certainly don't want Missions Failed! :lol

And I think it's the bestest that Crevanille is a lefty.

Will play more when I get home/after watching the fencing.

Completes don't have an effect on the story, as far as I can remember.
Danke. :)

can you redo escort quests endlessly? i got a
stat boosting fruit
for a perfect earlier. first time was just some common consumable item, but i messed up pretty big on that run.

Played a bit more last night and am now feeling the pull. Combat deepened as i thought it would, though Im slightly confused on activating limits (i think they are called).

Ill have to go thru it again tonite after work and see what i can find out about them. I probably just missed the full explanation <.<.

Liking the story so far, but im prob oy abput 3ish hrs in Im estimating.

Caved in and bought it, because I can't fight day one Vita compatibility. Does it look better with bilinear filtering and/or the PSP color space turned on?

Diving into this since I finished Nayuta and KH3D is irritating me.

First thought: they removed the voice acting, but not the music volume decrease that happens when characters who were voiced talk. That just makes it more obvious that there used to be voice there.

Just started the game and I like it so far. The dialogue's decent and the story is interesting enough, although I don't like how much it skips around--jumping from location to location, a certain time to six months later--and the one cutscene I watched wasn't particularly well directed. I've only been in two battles so far, but I already really like the battle system, and it reminds me of a sort of strategy version of the ATB. I wish I could speed things up a bit though, and an indicator showing that the game knows I want to execute new orders, similar to the icon that appears in Tactics Ogre when the player wishes to interrupt the battle, would have been nice. I can't wait to see the battle system evolve, because there's so much potential in it.

Also, to answer my own question for anybody playing this on Vita, I turned bilinear filtering on. Growlanser really doesn't look good on the Vita either way, and bilinear filtering blurs the sprites, but it makes the character portraits and text look more presentable.

Did this ever happen?

Was wondering the same thing.

Question about the rings: what does it mean when the number next to a skill is red in the equip screen? Let's say I equip a level 2 red skill stone on a level 4 green slot, the number turns red. Why is that? It doesn't do it with all mis-matched colors, just some.

Also, I know the characters can keep a skill after it hits level 1, but does the skill keep leveling up even if you don't have the skill's gem equipped?

greyed out dialog options just mean i'm locked out of a particular story path?
Sorta want to know this too. I know it relates to your previous replies and your structured personality...

You need the gem equipped to learn the rest of the levels. Continue equipping the stone until you master the skill.

As for the rings, the slots' colours'll change depending on the level of the spellstone, so even if the colours don't match, you'll still get skill points for it but you won't get as much. The slot turns red because you just equipped a red skill stone.

So say if you have a level 4 gem or something, it would be ideal to have a ring with a level 4 slot with the same colour as the gem otherwise you'll get less skill points. You can still equip it in a level 4 slot that's a different colour, but you'll get less points/learning rate will be reduced.

Thank you. Crap, that means I need to re-equip folks with some old gems. I've been switching stuff out as soon as the skills hit level 1.
