GTA IV: The Lost and Damned - Hands-On Previews Out Today

I promised myself I wouldn't get caught up in another GTA hype machine.. but having a whole gang of bikers riding around with you for the game sounds so cool!

Edit: It's a shame there isn't any new areas to explore though. I guess they are saving that for the second expansion.

Really? I highly doubt that any future expansions will add areas. There's so much unexplored space in the city.

Jesus are people still playing the review card?

To clarify my point, I was commenting on Rockstar's PR antics. It's a known fact they are heavy handed and have strict control over pre-release materials prior to a game's release. Don't play ball and you end up on a shit list.

So, I'll wait till I play it myself, like with any Rockstar game, to judge.

Um. Most publishers are the same. It's the same across the whole board. If anything, Rockstar gives more access to the press, and higher quality too, on an individual basis. They do it in a more attentive way which you could say is controlled but, erm, that is the whole point of PR, it's their product, they can show it how they want.

They are not perfect as PR folk (none are) but the way they do it is often masterful and results in much higher interest and ultimately sales.

So will there be some use for the city now? Just a multi player mode and more missions isn't something that could make me buy the 360 version for sure.

Should have got the 360 version in the first place. Anyone with a 360 who got the ps3 version instead screwed themselves imo. Don't forget, there's still another episode coming later this year. That's potentially a good 40 hours of extra content.

Gonna have to trade my PS3 copy in for a 360 copy of this, sounds great. Driving in GTAIV was just so cool, and there is NO feeling like getting t-boned in an intersection the first time with the new physics. I must have spent at least 20 hours after the main game driving around Algonquin, tearing it up.

well, unless they got a 360 arcade for only the exclusives...

Cue two months of hype and love followed by 6 of backlash, and the cycle starting anew.

All this has happened before, and will happen again.
BSG is back!

I can't wait. I'm playing through GTA IV for the second time on PS3 (gotta get mah trophies) but will buy the 360 version for this.

Yeah, first I played through the PS3 version and then I played through the 360 version (Bought both versions at launch for some reason..), which probably sums up to over 100 hours (Only SP), and I still can't wait for the DLC :) It's such a great game.. Even my wife loves to mess around with it, and she normally doesn't have patience with games other than Zuma or Bejeweled..

I recently started replaying GTA IV and realised how much I enjoyed it the first time through, will definitely be there for this DLC it sounds fantastic.

It sounds great to me and if it's as substantial as some of these previews suggest then the price seems quite fair too.

am I the only one that hates how walking/running works in GTA IV?

Niko feels like a tank, and why do I have to tap A continuously to run? There's an analog stick for a reason Rockstar.

really turns me off

It's long been established that the arcade is the only non-tard pack. The refurb 20gb for $30 deal stomps all over the high end shit.

I guess if you don't like hearing your games because you can't install them. Elite > all, 120GB + Black = win.

I'm there day 1. GTA4 was my favorite game last year, the content is there and the price is right. While I certainly can't wait for the next full GTA, this does so much to bridge the gap.

It annoys me too. But this having mid-mission checkpoints means I'm certain to buy this.

I didn't mind how the cars controlled, but really hated the bikes. There's going to be a lot of bike riding in this!
and if you read any of the previews you would have read that they tweaked the bike riding so that they're easier to control and a LOT easier to stay riding.

Why pay for this? If you played ALL of GTA IV and you enjoyed it, then you can get Saints Row I and/or II. If you enjoyed that you can get The Godfather II. There's also Mafia 2 coming out.

I mean, unless you really are starving for a sandbox crime game, I can't imagine who is, that you can buy this game.

Personally, I had my fill my sandbox gameplay with GTA IV and Assassins Creed.

All in all, I think it's too little, too late for too much.

If I like a game, I shouldn't buy it's expansion pack? This makes no sense whatsoever. SMH

If you like GTA 4 then presumably you like it for specific reasons. Buying another game assumes all games within a genre play exactly the same. That's like saying well if you like Crysis don't buy Crysis Warhead. Instead go buy a different game from the same genre. In other words you don't make any sense.

Because I liked GTAIV and although I've played through both Saints Row 1 and 2 they don't do it for me. I don't need stupid activities or gangs to entertain me.

Uhm, because I never really liked those other games you mentioned? Or at least enjoy them as much as I did with GTAIV? Man, you're just tempting others to play the junior card aren't u?

I think if you would have mentioned Heavenly Sword it would have had more of an effect.

I'm not trying to troll. Just saying that $20 for 10 hours isn't really that outrageous. You gotta pay for those production values!

Definitely getting this. I'm ready for another trip to Liberty City. Loved GTA IV, so an expansion to that universe is very much welcome. Can't wait!

If i want to play more GTA 4... why would i get something else? That is just kind of silly.

if you played and liked all of GTA4, then i dunno if you'd like actual good games like SR1/2.

Good logic. That's not stupid at all.
