GTA VI article coming out in the next couple of weeks by Tom Henderson

It's actually crazy how quiet rockstar is being about GTA 6. I'm starting to get very concerned about the state of the game because them being this quiet can't be for a good reason.

I think there was drama inside Rockstar. but there is 0% chance that this game isn't a cultural milestone and the biggest comercial in entertainment.

They are quiet because of their marketing plan for the game, which is to have the game out just a couple of months after the debut of the next trailer, rather than over half-a-year later.

Sony's been doing it the same recently, with Astro Bot revealed three months from launch and both DS2 and Yotei getting their release dates just three and five months in advance.

Me too, I woke up early this morning, thinking "Why haven't Rockstar said anything to me?". My wife noticed the concern on my face, and asked "What is the matter? Is everything ok?". I couldn't hide it anymore, I had to tell her. "I've been tossing and turning all night, concerned about the state of GTA 6, if the game was in a good state, surely Rockstar would let us know!?". My wife was confused, "I'm sorry I feel like I've joined a conversation you are having in your mind, start from the beginning, what is a GTA? Are we going to lose the house?". "No", I said, "It's worse than that, it's a video game that, despite having the most money of any game ever behind it, and coming from a studio with an amazing track record, the modern world has conditioned me to expect instant satisfaction, and as such, I cannot get excited anymore by video games, and also as such, I feel like a dog whose owner has left for the day, not knowing if they will ever come back, every second waiting feeling like an eternity. Time has lost all meaning". My wife didn't take to this very well, I can only imagine she is as upset as me about the situation. She just said "Fucking Video Games?" and left.

Fucking Video Games.

I for one even tho i think gta6 gonna be delayed to 2026 and not even spring 2026 but 2nd half, would love to see it launch sept 2025, just to see devs changing the launch dates of their games to late holidays or even early 2026 :)

It's unusual for them to be this quiet, true that. But didn't the Take Two boss recently say there won't be any marketing until release is very close? I hope that's the case here, but I'm fully expecting a delay into 2026.

How concerned are we talking here?

Like on a scale of one to ten. Ten being you just found out you have bad aids.

Real talk: the Ghosts of Yotei October date reveal dropping unceremoniously out of nowhere makes me think Sony suddenly moved it because they were told GTA6 was being pushed to early 2026.

November or "Nah we delay". Take-two is one of Sony's hottest honeyboo so they must have some sort of internal agreement about the scheduled release window and all sorts of upcoming marketing stuff arrangements. If GTA is gonna hit Oct then the main marketing&sales spotlights for their own first party titles like Ghost of Yotei will be extremely narrow, and I seriously doubt sony and sucker punch will be very happy about these kind of things, the same goes for other publishers. Heck even for Take-two themselves, no small deals like borderlands 4,2k26 needs to stay on the main stage for a little bit longer. Anyway yeah, this year is very crowded indeed

The only question is it early next year or I'm willing to bet it's holidays '26 :messenger_pensive:

Watch the video from this thread. Henderson says that if there were to be a delay it would most likely be another year. Sonething would have to be fundamentally wrong with the game to be delayed.

An early year release for this game at this magnitude doesn't feel right apparently.

Trying to achieve 4k/60 fps with RT? That will be good reason especially fsr4 and pssr integration will happen next year for ps5 pro. Or maybe its about removing push and force woke agenda since rocktstar is under sbi consultancy before? Possible since we now have we culture change and common sense is back. We shall see.

I read that quote also but it sounds like BS to me. GTA 6 is hands down one of the most anticipated games of all time at this time. Why would it make sense to only give it a short roll out.

The fun is in the anticipation, they should have more fun with the roll out IMO and not treat it like a regular game.

This is what happens to all games nowadays. Why hype a game coming out in November or December? My bet? They will release the next trailer with the release date. No need to show the game until then.

Yeah I HATE this new trend. But it is what it is.

What about GTA VI though? Is the article going to be a piece filled with hypotheticals or will it include the writer actually having played the game and talking about the experience. If it's the former, it's hilarious this is even being announced.

Edit: Listened to the clip - "Well researched" --- Sure....

So...if they plan to release this thing this year (lmao), they should probably start their marketing cycle at some point...

Why? They're Rockstar, it's GTA VI. They can post on X that GTAVI releases next week and still sell 20 million copies in the first day.

GTAVI is literally the only game in the entire world that would sell 200 million copies with zero marketing.

I am not a marketing expert, so maybe you are right. I think people overestimate how informed the casual gamer is. Especially to make it clear on which platforms this (first) release is going to be released on.

I think Take-Two are letting Rockstar do an under three months marketing campaign and will be going all out everywhere. Since the game is rumoured late October/November that means we probably won't hear anything until August.
