where did this rumor list come from

Jump Shot: Decreased the after-cast on this skill so that other skills can chain off of it more easily.

Rocket Boots: Now shoots you forward and doesn’t CC you. Cooldown reduced to 20 seconds. No longer a stun breaker.

babylawd.png

Personal Battering Ram: Recharge reduced to 25s.

If it's super-limited, it might be okay. Remember that Weakness is basically Anti-Thief Missile (Glancing Crits and Endurance reduction) and Torment is going to make mobility-heavy classes think twice.

I'm not saying it's gonna be open season on Thieves, but they've been pretty good for a while and their time is coming. If they're getting Torment, I bet they're losing a lot more.

A lot of non-thieves think like this but it's really not the case. I feel like it's the perception of Thieves in WvW to players who play very little S/TPvP that garners this feeling. I really think that if Thieves do get some nerfs, it should only be their Solo strength in WvW that gets it as in group fights they're really not strong at all.

I could also see an adjustment to Larcenous Strike (S/D #3 part 2) to force the first strike to have to hit for the second strike to become available but that's about it.

The Cryptarch's Bane
I truly hope that list is real, who knows. Some of that shit is creative as hell
Merciful Ambush: This trait now grants 2 seconds of stealth to you and your ally when beginning a revive.
RAW.

Rocket Boots: Now shoots you forward and doesn’t CC you. Cooldown reduced to 20 seconds. No longer a stun breaker.
Sounds fun

In these notes the new Death Shroud #5 is called Dark Binding while the blog post today called it Tainted Shackles. Similar enough that it could just be a rename, but an inconsistency nonetheless.

Edit - the description of the blog post sounds like what's described in the notes, too.

shit. so this awesome list is possibly not real.

irfaanator if this isn't legit please leave and never come back.

MMMMM speculative argument so tasty!

That all sounds really awful (witchy elves and hunting witches) and like it basically defined those builds in that game but I will not hop aboard your fear train

Heh I wonder if that's accurate tross. If it's really 1.5x a single stack of bleed on move it will pretty much be completely negligible except for builds attempting to stack DOT conditions anyway, which isn't particularly practical for a PvP thief. Also, if accurate, fucking called it re: Skale Venom.

Condi Pistol builds would apply it in addition to Bleeds which could result in a ton of damage from range. Load up Skale and Spider Venom to get Vulnerability, Torment, Poison, and Bleeds. Combined with the improved percentage of Ricochet in Trickery, it could apply conditions to multiple enemies very quickly. Especially in dual pistol builds.

I think it could lead to some very interesting results if these notes are real.

The Cryptarch's Bane
Yeah who knows. It could be real, but dated, thus numbers and even whether or not things are included could be up in the air. Some of the stuff is just so inspired though, I hope it's reallll

It would absolutely make a venom build more viable, like I said it won't be negligible for thieves who do damage by stacking conditions, it's just not the kind of thing that would define complete shutdown builds. Like those elvy witchhunters or whateer. I'd be stunned if it were more well-suited to PvP than raw damage or stealth builds but then again, the weakness change could make condition damage comparatively better across the game. Sounds fun for PvE to me though, actually.

For the record I will die laughing if they release a massive trait overhaul without removing Reanimator so if anyone wants my new PC now's the time to call dibs.

Warrior Notes:
Final Thrust: This skill has been moved to slot #3. Now does more damage and extra damage vs foes below 50%.
Hamstring: This skill has been moved to the end of the skill chain. Cripple reduced to 1s.

So, if these are real, the third attack on the auto-attack chain is being moved to the third slot, and the #3 slot is being nerfed to hell (currently a 7s cripple) but automatically applied?

I'm... kind of okay with this. Hamstring is so rarely used in PVE I rarely push it during a fight, and that Final Thrust thing sounds delicious. In PVP, I think having a 1s cripple (especially with the crippled = immobilized trait, Leg Specialist) that's being applied every third auto-attack is a nice consolation prize, and having that final thrust to spike some damage would be welcome (I dunno, I don't PVP that often).

Still digging through these. Some of it sounds too good to be true, honestly.

Edit: Fuck, Savage Leap now cripples too. Nevermind!

well here is a rumored unofficial patch list for next week http://pastebin.com/2rrFg9pS
I'm looking through this now but I want to say that the first thing I saw: "Fixed Confusion to no longer fire extra times on skills due to hidden script actions."

Immediately made me lol and remember this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7YnU-YG8Kbc

For the record I will die laughing if they release a massive trait overhaul without removing Reanimator so if anyone wants my new PC now's the time to call dibs.

I can believe this will happen.

My god, they're going to take my favorite Warrior main hand and make it the best weapon ever. This pastebin can no longer be real.

No, seriously, you can make a perma-fury build underwater using the fact that third auto-attack skill on the spear causes cripple, there's Leg Specialist, a trait that adds a 1 sec immobilize for every cripple, and there's Opportunist or something, which gives 1 sec of Fury for every cripple. Combine with For Great Justice! or Signet of Rage, and bam.

Changing the #3 skill to Final Thrust will also give non condition builds a better reason to use the Sword. Final Thrust actually gave main hand sword one of the better auto-attack DPS counts of all the Warrior weapons. Making it it's own skill means that people using Sword for offhand mobility can still do damage quickly.

And at this point I only do Hamstring in PvP/WvW because it slightly increases the chance of me connecting with Flurry.

Longbow changes and huge Companion's Might boost, supposedly. Yay. I could easily work Beastmaster's might into my build too.

Shortbow range drop doesn't really affect me. Pet nerfs as expected. At least Ice Breath is unchanged.

If true.

The more I read it, the more I feel this can't be true. Even just reading the change to the Guardian trait Glacial Heart just leaves me thinking "this isn't ANet..."

Most of it is the community's dream bug fix patch along with many skill smoothness tweaks and a more heavy handed approach to balance and trait chance. It's like... the complete opposite of their usual slow approach to GW2 game balance.

Edit: At the same time, for someone to create this they have to have a ton of knowledge to many of the problems across all of the classes, along with knowing some of the better solutions the community has come up with. This thing encompasses way more than I know about the game and makes me feel like a chump for ever talking about balance on GAF. The optimist in me just can't see someone with all this knowledge also going through the trouble of making fake patch notes.

Edit 2: You could probably make some money right now if you anticipate some of the armor and weapons people are going to be buying in response to this patch. Buy up the stuff if you think the notes are true, or sell to suckers if you think the notes are false.

Hmm. I was going to start my 1st alt this weekend but I'll wait until these changes get implemented. If those notes are the real changes, looks fun fine tuning my elementalist.

Oh. My. God. Necro.
Edit:
Soul Reaping
Decaying Swarm: This trait has been removed.
Near to Death: This trait has been moved to the Master tier.
New Grandmaster trait – Deathly Perception: You have a 50% greater critical chance while in Death Shroud.

Unless I've missed something the Mesmer changes in that list are pretty terrible and the class only gets one means of applying Torment - on a counter ability at that. Doesn't seem to fit with the previews...

It just hit me: Guild Wars 2 |OT3| Evilore does not play Guild Wars 2.

My favorite utility in the game, just got much needed improvements. Now I can finally kick some dragons in the face.

Yeah, I run a Healing Shout build with soldier runes, so I've got For Great Justice!, Shake it Off! and On my Mark! on at all times. And frankly, I'm getting a little sick of it, and I miss having some utility like Bolas / Kick. Might need to give up On My Mark! for something.

Hey guys, I saw that Guild Wars 2 is on sale over on GMG and I was wondering if this is a easy MMORPG to get into, I played the first one a bunch and I haven't really gotten into a MMORPG in quite some time

It seems like Torment is a bigger thing for Necros, and is kind of being passed to Thief and Mesmer just to spread the love around a little. It makes sense as a counter because it punishes people who touch you.

It's not great, honestly, but it's another condition Mesmers didn't have before. We don't even know if these are real or not, so it's a bit early to assume the worst.

There's a bit of a learning curve, especially if you've played other MMOs like WoW (though you'll mostly be unlearning the bad behaviors they taught you), and it is vastly different from the first, and not in ways that fans of the original always enjoy. That said, it's still a fantastic game, and even people who don't play it anymore still say it was worth the price of admission. For $37.99 (and no subscription fee), it's worth looking into. If you get to level 80 and never play it again, you'll have likely gotten a lot of time-per-dollar value out of it... and if you get bitten by the bug and keep playing, the value only gets better and better.

Obviously the community thread is biased in favor of it, but if you think you might like it, give it a shot

It can be played fairly casually, yes, if that is what you are looking for.

While I like most of the Thief changes, they've also just ruined Lotus Poison, which was a trait I depended on for my support build. Well, overall my Settler's/Apocathery/Shaman Thief build was buffed thank to the improvements to almost every other trait it depended on. Now back to making it less wonky...

Do it.

Edit: I now see that Leg Specialist has been nerfed, probably thanks to it's very interaction with Opportunist and the new Savage Leap and Hamstring.

Edit 2: They improved Dolyak Signet while also making Balanced Stance still good. And Endure Pain now at 60 seconds means we no longer have stun breaks on 90 second cooldowns. Thank god.

Edit 3: Lowered all Warrior healing skills by 5 seconds. Woah. That really happened.

Back to being pessimistic about this pastebin.

Edit 4: Ah, they changed Opportunist too.

Overall, these are really awesome changes. They improve all the classes. They also nerfed the burst of Thieves and Warriors a bit through trait changing and shuffling. But, they can still reach the same amount of damage as before, just with more sacrifices. It doesn't look like they've nerfed bunker Guardians or Rangers all that much though, if at all. Same with HGH Engineers. Mesmers, as someone else said, were barely touched. They just buffed a few traits and are hoping that's enough. They didn't even nerf the current shatter burst build from what I could tell. I'm thankful for the Temporal Curtain nerf though. It looks like they're hoping that the considerably altered Warriors, Necros, and a few other class builds they're trying to enable will deal a blow to the current PvP metagame.

It's why I finally dropped my soldier runes build and depend more on Quick Breathing.

And if true, it looks like they are finally nerfing those 20/25/0/5/20 GS/axe warrior builds now that the x% damage/crit per adrenaline bar is moving to grandmaster. Fine by me.

Man I'm pretty pumped to try out the new jumping puzzle. Excited for new dungeon too and hope it's more akin to the MF dungeon and not the five steps in and boss battle of Soutsun. I was more excited than any patch before when I read their comments about changing the trait lines and skills, was really curious to see what they added but if that rumor link you guys posted is real, color me underwhelmed. Mesmers never get cool stuff haha Well, I am pleased with the fix on Signet of Illusions, at least. I thought maybe there'd at least be some interesting condition skills tailored for that Torment condition but not so much. Oh well, at least they didn't nerf anything I 'do' like :) Sky Pirates is always an awesome concept so looking forward to the update.

The thing about Mesmers is that they already can do a lot of cool stuff. So much cool stuff. They also have a lot of good trait synergy already. If you look at people playing WvW, Mesmers have probably the highest build diversity just because everything they do adds to their survival. And stuff like the change to Mind Spike is something that I plain adore.

But you're right. Compared to most of the other classes, the Mesmer had changes that were more similar to previous balance patches. I can only assume that they're afraid to tweak much because of the aforementioned synergy, but I'm also surprised they didn't do more with the weapons. Greatsword is really strong for power builds, but Staff is considered weak for conditions and they didn't do much there at all. Scepter solidified itself as the rare condition applier.

Mesmer mostly got a buff to support builds that already had synergy with other builds if you felt like splitting trait points. It's weird. They didn't even touch on the fact that illusion-on-dodge is a trait so many Mesmer's can't ignore, along with the staple trait Illusionist's Celerity.

calling fake on that list of changes. I imagine there'll be a lot of changes, but they're not going to change every single skill in one patch.

jesus retro, that was exactly my build:O

and I got sick too of the shout build.

Did you also have berserker with your soldier runes as your main stats on gear?

The poor thing is that the build i am running now, is not adequette. it's okay for WvW, but I am pretty good in WvW. Shouts and banners are not just very fun to me. I'm a martial warrior and I wanna do crazy martial skills. ALL OVER THE PLACE.

with that being said, the GW2 warrior is the best character I have ever played in any class based MMORPG ever. I love this class so much. It's designed after my own head.

... Btw did any of you notice that they mentioned in the class balance "as they add more professions"(under the justification for giving necros a new )

that's the first time I have heard Anet say new professions. I felt pretty confident that they would add weapon types to all the existing professions. This surprises me, as this is not vertical progression.

But then again, it might not mean anything, and a new profession does not disclose also adding new weapon types.

if it was me though, I would rather have two new weapon types per profession than say.. one new profession. I think the value, customization, expand ability and replay value would be so much better than seeing the inevitable over saturation of any new profession.

I did not, where'd you see it again? I can't find it.

"As the professions in Guild Wars 2 continue to grow, we will continue to find ways to augment them and add potency to their arsenal of abilities. With the next balance update, necromancers will be unlocking their fifth ability within Death Shroud: Tainted Shackles. This skill will cause nearby enemies to be inflicted with conditions and controlled if they don’t take very quick action."

Or do you think they just mean making the existing professions grow??

Yes. It's interpreted as "the professions grow in power" or "grow in age"

Yeah, I think they're referring to the existing ones.

And since we're on the topic, I think new weapon types will be in before a new profession. Weapons expand the game for every player, regardless of profession, whereas a new profession only expands the game for those who roll one.

The optimal thing to do would be introduce a new profession that is built around a few new weapon types; everyone gets a new weapon, and a new profession for those that want it.

I'm still putting money on Great Axe in the future. And Engineers need Hammers, damnit!

A new weapon or existing weapon to other classes' adds only five skills to the game, which is great, but it also requires trait lines to be updated to include these weapons.

I thought perhaps they would make a condition build more viable, beef up options with the Staff and especially the Scepter. Seems like everybody just goes with damage burst builds whether Shatter or Phantasm and it would be interesting to see a third option pop up. There are a few problems with the GS at the moment and other general issues many people are always clamoring to be addressed and I was curious to see if any would be but I guess not. Well, except for Signet of Illusions which is nice.

It sucks not being able to play GW(any game for that matter) right now. Painting/cleaning/moving house this entire week continuing into the weekend. Then away from home all of next week.

Withdrawals!
