I really wanna get this game, but Arcys insists on using that traditional selling model. The whole point of me being able to play this game at this day and age is to find other players to play with, particularly online play. I hope they change this down the road.

I've been having a lot of fun with SFV and I am so looking forward to finding people to play against 4 years from now.

When do Kum and Raven release in the jp arcades?

Who knows. Probably not for a while since we haven't got Dizzy yet and the console character ports are usually a package deal.

I think they're planning on shipping a balance update along with the DLC characters so that'll probably take some time as well.

Good for us. Longer it takes them to bring Revelator up to console parity, longer we'll have parity with Japan until the next major version update

congrats! i recommend doing ravens as they're so easy.

Thanks. Leo's took me so long, I'll give it try with one more before just doing arcade mode.

However, I still haven't actually cleared Leo's because of advanced combo #6? It seems to me like it's glitched. It's not even that hard, and I swear I completed it no sweat, but it's not giving me credit for one of the hits.

It's this combo: blitz(max) F+HS, P, K, S, HS, QCF+S, QCF+HS, QCB+S. It seems like it should be simple.

Maybe I'm crazy and missing something obvious, but the standing HS in the P,K,S,HS chain is not registering as a hit. The combo number keeps counting up to that point, and I seem to complete the combo, but stops when the HS hits (HS on the list never turns yellow), even though I can finish the combo.
It seems to have worked ok in this person's video:

Any idea what's going on? Is that supposed to be linked, not chained? That would be odd to me since it chains easily, and I can do that part as a chain combo separately.
You got this one, right? Any ideas? Does it still work for you?

I actually don't know if this is how the crumple works, but it COULD be that you hit them too quickly after the full blitz and they aren't yet crouching (which is required for S, HS to combo)

As a newcomer to the series, where is the best place to start learning this game? I know about Crash Course and Air Dash Academy, but those videos so far seem very basic. Can anyone recommend some videos for a intermediate Street Fighter player? The skill floor feels high and I don't really know where to begin.

have you done the tutorials? what about mission mode? what are you having difficulty with? hard to know where to point you without knowing what exactly you'd like to learn.

I've done the tutorial, trials for Millia and Sol up until their advanced combos and about half of Mission mode.

I'd like to learn the basics for fighting against a real opponent in this style of game and develop my play from there.

i would suggest jumping online. you know how the game works, so start playing!

Why? Alot of the same information that would be on forums is present there and you have a more immediate, direct line to knowledgeable players in a space where they are willing to help and talk about the game

Ky's aren't so bad, but i really think Sol's last one is very hard.
Lol, it really is, kept missing the last j.D at the end, could never get the timing right, had to add j.k before it. Doing j.k, j.D 214k made it way easier.

And of course I had to fail at the easiest part(OD finisher) quite a few times.

If I need info I just ask people like Q. Not sure about twitter or dustloop.

Discord is pretty immediate. I mean it's shit for searching for past information but some character discords put up faqs of information,or nicely made easy to read guides. I've told you this like fifty times shin.

The last part is good, first part not really. The first forum post are concise and structured sources of info like a better wiki. chat is constantly advancing what's visible and twitter is one of the worst things ever for info gathering that isn't current not to mention you have to know who to look for

It's less about immediacy and more about it's information is digestible and understandable.

I mean you just said you relied on people like Q(whom I'm guessing you consider is more knowledgeable about the game than you) for info almost exclusively

That's literally the same exact thing as discord. Except you're able to talk to a variety of character specialists in a space dedicated to that character.

I think alot of the better run discords do have locked FAQ sections

I will concede that it's bad for long term preservation, ESPECIALLY in regards to older game versions, but honestly I don't think forums were ever much better. Mostly because forums preserve EVERYTHING. Including junk info. All in a format that is terrible for navigating through all that information

Ideally the community would be more motivated to updating and maintaining the wiki's, but I think only a few people actively do that and irregularly. Most everyone else just talks to each other.

At low and mid level play, he's really good, blow up anyone with weak defense. He's not as good at high level but all the characters are competitively viable, he's by no means bad.

Sweet. Thanks for the reply. I guess I have my characters now.

Personally I feel this extremely bad for people that want info

I don't think too many (any?) people would argue that discord/twitter are good for preserving important information and making it findable. Unfortunately, people have collectively decided to abandon forums as the main avenue for fighting game (tech) discussion, which isn't something I think is a good thing, but at the same time, if you want to have access to people talking about the game, you need to shift to discord and twitter or you'll miss out. There's no choosing between forums and discord/twitter- everybody else has already chosen, and it's discord/twitter or nothing at all.

It's funny that the trend for the longest time was increased availability of easily findable information, but now it's sort of reversed.

I hope there is a happy medium between all ways of storing information having everything one the social media or discord makes archiving it a bit of a issue.

Goddamnit I honestly don't know what's wrong, I can't reliably double jump and air dash, it's honestly killing me in just the tutorials and frustrating as all hell.

I don't recall it ever being this difficult, could it be the controller? I've used to play GGXX with a stick or keyboard after all but that was years ago- haven't really played fighting games since then.

EDIT:

cleared the tutorial, but it's a hollow victory.

If you are accidently super jumping you can't double jump, and air dashing you just literally need to mash the direction as fast as possible

If you are trying to instant air dash try inputting 2686

There's plenty of that on discord. A lot of helpful hands willing to repost information, guide you to more, etc. You said you asked people like Q for help, what's wrong with asking people like LostSoul/Brett?
I mean you get 100% more anime titties with LS but y'know what can you do.

I just signed up on Discord and the amount of stuff getting posted is properly astounding. Every player looking for GGXrd pointers should get in there.
