You also have to filter through tones of porn. :|

That is always a good thing.

Who knows. Probably not for a while since we haven't got Dizzy yet and the console character ports are usually a package deal.

I think they're planning on shipping a balance update along with the DLC characters so that'll probably take some time as well.

Good for us. Longer it takes them to bring Revelator up to console parity, longer we'll have parity with Japan until the next major version update
It going to be nice too see what the arcade only players do with Kum and Raven. Going to be some nice tech once they hit.

I have officially fished out every item I can get (M.O.M. mode takes forever to 100%)

I just reached M.O.M class 3 and it has 29 levels to get to 4? That's a lot.
Does anyone know if the max class is still 7 or did they change it?

Also I found it funny how talkative Ramlethal's voice actor is in the Consumer Ver. Secret Voice section.

Why bother finishing this horrid mode? I don't think there is any trophy for collecting ALL items or reaching a very high class. As far as I know there are only the following three trophies attached to MOM:

Puberty
[M.O.M.] Class increased.

Scorer
[M.O.M.] Passed Lv 50.

Spray and Pray
[M.O.M.] Maximum combo damage exceeded 1,000.

Yeah I have all the M.O.M trophies already, guess I'm just a sucker for the character building aspect.
They made it harder to make a super OP character compared to Sign though with much higher requirements for the best skills and items.

Maybe reveal trailer around Evo top 8 for XrdR? Hopefully.

Definitely. I believe when people went to arcrevo and asked Pachi about DLC characters he said "wait for Evo"

and a bunch of the Evo team tweeted pictures of a meeting at ArcSys headquarters in Japan.

There's definitely something coming for the game at Evo. At the very least it's Dizzy

Would explain why grand finals is 3rd to last on Sunday, rather than first thing in the morning as usual.

Makes me sad I'm only attending for Day 1 and 2 then at Evo. I love Dizzy, but Day 3 is just so expensive for me right now :[

I'd honestly rather see it at home tbh. Where I can watch the trailer in HQ with good audio without a bunch of people who aren't even gonna play her screaming in my ear about it. lol

Maybe. I'd like to think GG has earned its spot on Sunday.

Been slowly working my way through parts of the game. Have done about 30 of the missions and around half of the arcade episodes. Really enjoying it but I'm pretty bad (which is to be expected). Lose every now and then on the default arcade settings. Thinking maybe I should jump into the special move run through guide with each character rather than going straight into arcade mode and winging it.

Hoping to go through the rest of the arcade episodes and story mode soon. Really like what I've seen from the game so far when it comes to visuals/music/characters (both for personality and their movesets)which is more than I can ask for from a fighting game. Could see myself putting in a good amount of time of the game so maybe after the story mode I'll try to get decent at it.

Haehyun's got to deal with things like Jack-O. I was half messing around and half not knowing the matchup and it looked terrible for Q's Haehyun lol

For now at least.

Completed all of Raven's combo trials, yay.
I know his are relatively easy but never fully finished one before that.
Seems fun to play too, would like to learn more.

Picked this up after playing it at a friends house, I am having a lot of fun, but damn is it difficult. I've been doing the combo training session, do those translate well in competitive play? Any tips for someone new to this type of fighting game?

I've received "Failed to initialize match" in the lobby over ten times in a row with several different opponents despite having just done a dozen or perfectly fine lobby matches. Is this common?

Edit: now when I tried to quit the lobby the game froze.

It depends on the character. I'd recommend that you start out with simple stuff though, something like a simple chain into knockdown. Your goal starting out should be to get a feel for you're character's moveset and a simple combo into knockdown will let you work on their oki game right away. You can add new things to your game when you're ready, there's no need to overwhelm yourself with the hard combos.

From the half of the combo trials I've had time to complete, they do a good job at pointing you towards the good stuff. Even if most are only 70-90% optimal, they do reveal some important puzzle pieces that are worth coming back to when you run into combo hurdles later.

Mission mode is probably a better tool. It leads you from some beginner fundamentals right up into the advanced, end-game defensive techniques, and can go a long way in bringing some people up to speed.

For content outside of the game, Novriltataki's Youtube Channel has you in mind, so have a look through his content. Stuff as far back as his 3-year-old "Guilty Bits" character profiles from the old Guilty Gear X2+R can potentially even help you get a feel for how the returning characters' tools have come together to shape what they can do.

Makes me very happy to see how full Japan's lobbies are. It's grown astronomically compared to how popular online was in XRD SIGN.

NA on the other hand feels like it's shrunk since XRD SIGN's launch.

Picked up this game as an amateur fighting game fan and also because of the tutorial which is highly praised.

I'm struggling with some things though.

How do you jump cancel?

How do you dash feint?

What do the numbers in people's posts by the attacks mean?

This isn't a troll post I'm absolutely loving the game just looking for some advice.

- Jump cancel is when cancel an attach recover by jumping, for example, Sol's HS > Jump. Simple as that. Not all normals are jump cancelable of course.

- Dash faint is letting go of 6 during a dash, which allows you to do things you couldn't do during the dash(like grabs) during dash recovery animation.

- The number represent the the direction buttons(think keyboard numpad):

7 8 9
4 5 6
1 2 3

Represent

↖ ↑ ↗
← n →
↙ ↓ ↘

As in 6 = forward, 2 = down, 7 = up+back, etc...

One thing to keep in mind is that you have a brief sliding stop animation when you do this. Unlike in the old games, you can now throw out of it, yes. However, you are not able to block during the slide.

An alternative form of "dash feint" can be performed by tapping Faultless Defense (aka green block, barrier) to immediately cancel your run. This does two things that just letting go of dash won't:
1. Allows you to stop and block without delay from out of a dash (which is great when you notice a projectile coming at you last second)
2. Cancels your forward movement completely (which helps place your character more precisely at the range you want, i.e. to help avoid slipping into the other player's attack range or throw range when the slide would take you too far)

Thanks for the reply. What's the timing on the jump cancel?

Do allow the attack to hit?

Thanks again

A very odd then happened when I bounce from this to SFD, the breaks from both allow some improvement, I have most certainly found my groove. But man do I love Elphelt and Jack-o.

Is FD cancel > grab faster? Empty feint looks just as fast(or just easier with a controller), though I guess FD is safer.

Speaking of which, what's a good grab set up with I-No? Empty hover dash is realy slow and feels like it shouldn't catch anyone unless they respect I-No's pressure way too much.

After wistfully watching you guys talk about this game, I finally got this game on Friday. Haven't touched it yet as I had to format my PS4, but I can't wait! (as soon as I can tear myself away from Ibuki lol)

I'd love to get some matches in with you guys. I added my name to the list in the OP.

Oh definitely, empty feints are good for dash grabs now. In the old games they only really worked well for Dizzy for some reason. In Xrd, the biggest advantage of FD stopping into throw is when your character has a longer throw range than the opponent. FD stopping in neutral is pretty darn good though.

For I-No, my favourite thing to jump cancel into some j.D FD-cancel flickers and land to throw at a random timing. Because of how often I-No can be unthrowable, you should get opportunities to just walk-up throw after block dashes and on oki against characters with bad throw ranges and OS options.
