Gun maker stocks skyrocket after Las Vegas massacre

Massacres are great for business, so this is why you won't see gun control in US politics.

Stock prices for major US gunmakers increased Monday, just hours after the deadliest mass shooting in American history.

Shares of Smith & Wesson parent American Outdoor Brands finished the day up 3.2 percent while Sturm, Ruger & Co. climbed 3.4 percent. Vista Outdoor, which sells firearms and ammunition, was also selling at higher prices, ending the day up 6.4 percent.

Analysts believe that the demand in guns is due to the fear of more regulatory restrictions on firearms.

Yeah, that country won't ever change, just getting used to it at this point.

ffs.

Every time. Fuck these gunmakers and their malign influence over politics.

Also, if you invest in these companies, or use funds that invest in them, you are part of the problem. Their is no BS capitalist moral 'out' for it.

What can you expect from a country of retards that elected Trump, not that the other option was any better tought, poor america. KKona.

Wonder how many of these people going out and buying guns and ammunition also live in poverty and are "economically anxious"

If only someone would come up with a solution that would get the gun companies paid while increasing ownership restrictions. At least then you would have a framework for reasonable gun laws.

So what stops the NRA organizing a massacre under the table, stock prices go up, both them and their friends in the gun industry profit?

I'm not saying this is definitely what occurs, but it's frightening to think about

Didn't Obama wanted some form of gun control? But congress would work against it? Like banning the sale of assault weapons? And what happens? People go out to buy more guns/assault rifles, because they are scared they wouldn't be able to do so if some new gun control laws were introduced.

People wants to fight fire with fire. Things will never change in the US.

How gross do you need to be to go and snap up shares of gunmakers after one of the deadliest mass shootings? Ethics have left the building.

I am curious, can't ban the sale of guns right? Than ban bullets or regulate bullets. Does that work or is that against the 2nd amendment as well?

It's really disappointing that so many people give money to these horrible companies. I don't want to live in this culture anymore at all.

This is pretty close to exactly what does happen, though less directly.

That's so stupid. Even if every single person in that crowd had a gun it wouldn't have helped them...

It's not about that; it's in the OP.. It's because they think that now...this time...the gubment will take their right to have guns away.

It's funny, I saw another "false flag" accusation on Facebook yesterday, with how this attack was just another attempt at the government taking away all our guns. It's such a stupid theory if these people would just stop and think about it for a second.

There have been how many gun massacres in the US now? And yet there have been no major gun laws put in place.

On the other hand, every single time a massacre occurs, gun sales skyrocket, and I'm sure NRA memberships fly, too.

So why isn't the conspiracy theory that the NRA are performing false flag operations like this to line their pocketbooks?

EDIT - I see Machina had a similar idea.

Well if they were to actually do this, and got caught, it would be the one thing to fuck over the nra and bring them down. That's why.

Meanwhile they sit back and do nothing and profit anyways

It's the same every single time. After the Sandy Hook shooting, firearms sales skyrocketed too. These people probably have dozens of guns and rifles in their houses.....

I wonder what America will be like in a 100 years time when everyone is tooled up to their fucking eye balls?

100 years? During the Obama administration there were already more guns than people.

They don't need to do this, crazed killers do the work for them essentially.

I hate to say this, but I've made a lot of money buying and then selling these stocks after tragedies. It's sadly predictable.

Sounds like a plot from a spy movie.

The statistical odds of mentally unstable individuals causing a mass shooting are already high enough on a yearly basis that they don't even have to bother. The system is working perfectly for them, like a well-oiled machine.

It's odd that the prevailing feeling among gun control advocates is resignation, but people who actually buy guns seem to believe that some sort of ban is inevitable and stockpile guns accordingly.

I don't think they fund massacres but I wouldn't be surprised if they secretly donated to get Obama in on his second term. He was very good for their business. Now that Trump is in office all the gun shops around me can barely push guns and ammo right now.

A bunch of unstable gun-nuts going "gubmint gon' take ma guns!", stockpiling enough to fill an armory and the cycle begins again :(

That's so stupid. Even if every single person in that crowd had a gun it wouldn't have helped them...

They're not buying guns because they think it'll help protect them. They're buying them because they're afraid the mass shooting will make guns harder to buy so they're stockpiling them.

Basically they're going into "they're gonna take my guns" mode.
