Gun maker stocks skyrocket after Las Vegas massacre

Blood money

you should hate to say it. you're part of America's biggest domestic problem.

I'm pro gun control, and I dump the stocks immediately after they surge. They don't get my money for more than a couple days at a time.

This. Not familiar with stock prices but it strikes me as not much.

Past tragedies have led to 10-20% surges. So, it's not the biggest one, but 3-6 percent in one day is significant.

You're still profiting from death dude

Having a gun would have been FUCKING USELESS in the Vegas shooting.

And yet I've come across a couple of people saying that more people should have been armed to help stop the shooter. It's fucking insane. Gun culture is too embedded in US culture and if Sandy Hook didn't change things, nothing ever will.

Mass shooting
Gun owners fear strict regulation
Post massacre firesale of guns and ammo
NRA lobbies hard to keep those regulations from happening
*repeat*

Disgusting cycle

do the gun makers keep all the profits they gain after massacres? do the CEOs sleep well at night knowing why they are richer?
Of course not. They turn around and “donate” a percentage to their Republican business partners.

I mean, you're right, but I'm not really the cause nor the funder. I'm out so fast that I have no part in actually making the companies profitable. Just taking advantage of cynically predictable trends.

Scary thought that you would have suddenly hundreds of non-military people opening fire back at a hotel building killing possibly hundreds, followed by the people in the hotel building shooting back at the people shooting at them who were shooting at the person inside said building.

Jump a few more steps of that and boom:
350

Quite a few here were doing the same on the other thread.

I wonder what America will be like in a 100 years time when everyone is tooled up to their fucking eye balls?

In general, I think the number of people with guns and the percentage of people with guns is decreasing. The number of guns per people with guns, well that's another thing. But at one point they will be such a minority.

More households don't have guns now than in the past.

When it comes to America and guns nothing surprises me anymore since I read about people wanting to shoot hurricans to stop them.

Oh, it'll rise on in the current climate, if nothing changes. Don't bet on that curve going back down.

I was talking a few weeks back with a very good friend.. a smart dude who has a good career and family. He is hard liner on the gun debate. He thinks Trump is an idiot.. and that did not matter one bit. In his head Hillary was going to take his guns.. every single one of them so that was the only issue that mattered.

I tried to reason with that thought saying that it makes no sense that every gun would be a target of some sort of gun law but again nothing I could say would even begin to shake his hard line.

What many do not understand is that guns are a religion for millions of people in the US.. it represents in their mind this strange protection from everything in the world that is on its way to take their stuff or kill their family. I came away from our conversation thinking.. there is no changing this anytime soon. He looked me in my eyes and said "See what happens if they try to take one gun from me"..

Anyways.. as someone who never felt the need to own a gun .. I get the personal protection part if you feel you need to but not anything like what was used during this horrible attack... I just do not know what can be done when a simple conversation can not even take place and that very conversation is in their mind an attack worthy of picking up a gun and showing it to you in an attempt to shut you up.

They're not buying guns because they think it'll help protect them. They're buying them because they're afraid the mass shooting will make guns harder to buy so they're stockpiling them.

Basically they're going into "they're gonna take my guns" mode.

Oh, I didn't think of it that way. That's equally crazy though.

And for some it's safety blanket kinda thing.

"I better stock up some more in case some looney starts shooting my area so better have guns and ammo to protect myself"

Fear of strict regulation makes no sense to me as reasoning here for purchase more guns because US has shown over, over and over again that there is absolutely no interest nor will to regulate guns.

Now just like after e.g. baseball practice shooting leadership is tooting "Now is not the time talk about gun regulation..." horn which is their way of saying "We don't want nor never will touch this issue".

Why doesn't the greatest democracy on earth have a referendum on the issue?

No political will or interest.

Guys, I know it's amazing that this guy shot all these people from 32 floors up with an automatic weapon- well now you can have one too! Just put VEGASSHOT in the promo code for a 5% discount!

Jesus fuck is that an actual "ad" or "trailer" for that thing?

This is not an ad for "personal defence", this is an ad for "invade the next town over".

Try telling that to dimwit yanks and their like-minded politicians. "If all those festival go-ers had guns then the death toll would be less. Hurr Gurr...where's ma gun at?"

it that had been the case, it would have turned in to a bigger bloodbath than what it already was.. :(

Oh yes, it is.

The band actually had guns themselves. They were extremely pro gun, but one of the band members came out and said they're now anti-gun because they realized they couldn't do shit with their gun and it's just as likely the police woulda shot him thinking he was the shooter if he tried.

This government was designed to only allow a select few determine the outcome of how society should work and function. Doesn't matter if 99.999% of the population wants to ban guns, they have no say in it.

If 99 percent of the population wanted to ban guns and voted in local and federal elections accordingly, guns would be banned. Stop with the hyperbolic nonsense.

Saturday at the local gun shop will be busier than ever this weekend as well.

I mean these folks will have to endure a solid week of 'they are coming for your guns' nonsense can you blame them!?!?!

It does show how paronoid many gun owners are where they fear their guns being taken away even with Trump as president.

They're in the business of making guns, of course they sleep just fine. I had a Mechincal Engineering lecture talk to us about the project he was on about redesigning silencers (since he was giving us pointers about our group project). I was like nah naaaaaaaah I ain't touching any such projects in the field with a ten-foot barge pole fuck that shit.
