Gust announces Atelier Sophie (PS3/PSV/PS4)

This game is multi-platform and it's on the Vita from the start so, no plus version

I know it's on Vita, but that doesn't mean that can't do a Plus version later. That's extra money for them, besides lots of people wait for plus to even buy it in the first place.

Hell, would love if they did a plus later on PS4, kinda like how Rorona+ made its way onto PS3. Would be nice, is all.

Yoru no nai Kuni in August, Sophie in September. Gust overload.

Yoru isn't confirm to be released for the West right?
Then again, it is Gust.
They have ported almost every JRPG to the West last gen.

Well... sooner that I expected.

I guess they've finally realised that the Plus version sales were nosediving, so better make it multi-plat from the start instead.

Anyway, art looks great. Guessing digital-only for PS3/Vita in the west, so I may well get this on PS4.

On all three platforms? Awesome!

This time around I won't be buying a Plus version then, unless it's released on PC, Vita 2, NX, Xbox 4.

Whoa an Atelier game on Vita the same day as the other versions! :O
I will support this when localized :)

The character design is not as cutesy as before but I like it.

I'm quite far behind though... still need to play Escha & Logy...

Awesome! I hope KoTec announces Escha & Logy Plus soon, I still need to play that.

I'll get this on Vita, a.k.a. "Atelier Neptunia Warriors" system.

Glad to see that Gust is abandoning the "port to Vita later to try to get people to double-dip" thing and just launching on all platforms day one.

The only reason why the Vita versions were "plus" in any way, shape, or form is because Sony requires late ports to include all previously-released DLC. They would have happily made you pay for the DLC on Vita as well if they could, and now that the Vita version is releasing day and date with PS3/PS4 they will.

And the only reason why Rorona was plus'd on PS3 was because they could improve enough via adding polish/things from the later games to make it enough of an upgrade to be worth buying again for some people. That's pretty much the only possible scenario in which we get an Atelier Sophie Plus, and even that's unlikely.

Regardless, I wouldn't hold out for a Plus version here.

Looks like Rorona 2.0, which isn't a bad thing.

Kinda weird that this is releasing so close to Yoru no Nai Kuni though. I hope KT isn't rushing it out.

Its sad legacy of multiplat games. :/

Think of it this way: the ability to play Atelier games away from home is exclusive to Vita.

I completed the last half of Rorona Plus while on holiday with my family. I'm also pretty sure I went through at least 25% of Ayesha Plus (have yet to start the PS3 version) from the combined sessions of waiting for my gf to set her hair, etc.

I don't consider that a sad legacy at all. It could quite have easily been no multi-plat games and nothing else.

I prefer gaming on Vita to anywhere else. As long as the games are coming, I genuinely don't mind where else they appear.

I've never played the Atelier series, but the character designs in these games always blow me away. Might just pick this up if it comes West and I don't have anything else to play.

I'm glad you two are enjoying it. When I bought it, I was expecting a lot more exclusives, to be honest.

Ontopic: The art looks really nice here.

Will pick up Vita version (or PS4 if I have the system by the time if comes out)

What's wrong with Atelier's designs? They are not your everyday pandering otaku boobs/ass stuff...

I'll play it for a week straight, then throw it onto the pile of other incomplete Atelier games. Not for lack of trying or love mind you... I just can't seem to beat them in a short amount of time. I go to play something else for awhile, come back, find myself utterly lost and I either restart or give up.

I did manage to get multiple Totori endings at least!

this girl looks plain as fuck

PS3 is good news if all they do is up port the game and not add exclusive content for the other platforms

That's the appeal. :D

I wonder what the difference will be between platforms. Hope whatever direction they take the mechanics in this iteration is interesting.

It's great that this is still on PS3! The Vita version from the outset is a nice surprise as well. Wonder if that version will get a physical release in the West? Either way, I'm excited to try this one out, though I still haven't beaten Shallie yet...
