Gust announces Atelier Sophie (PS3/PSV/PS4)

Seems like crafting will be slower in this game than in other games due to the mechanics. Not a bad thing, especially since the games I've played have always provided ways to mass-produce items you've made after a while.

No kidding, it really feels like it's (succesfully) trying a lot of different things - everything form discovery to the actual crafting itself. I'm actually excited for this, which I couldn't say the same for going from Meruru to Ayesha.

I just got into the Atelier series. Bought them all on Vita when they were on sale but didn't start playing until a few weeks ago. I'm super stoked for this, Rorona is probably the first jRPG I've really enjoyed in 5+ years.

And Totori is even better.

You should also try Mana Khemia, since you get it off PSN. It's also part of Atelier games, which has a very enjoyable gameplay.

^Have to agree, loved the combat, music, and most of the characters. Just great all-around.

As for the trailer, great seeing all the old atelier games represented, lots of good memories. The music was good, as always.

Mana Khemia are the best Atelier games.

Preach, although I still haven't played the second one yet. I hear it's dumber than the first one.

I wasn't expecting such a bad-ass design from an Atelier game, but Plachta's mech suit looks amazing.

The first Atelier game I played was Totori, I imagine this will be my second.

New stuff!

Lots of info on changes to the battle system, like choosing what every character will do at the start of the turn rather than when their turn comes up and that every character can use items but which kinds of items they can use will be different. Looks like LP returns to prevent you from being able to do everything out in the field without ever going back home. Finally information on three characters (Corneria having already been introduced, so just two new characters), and the third one is the owner of inn, so just one new party member.

I really need to start my 2nd playthrough of EL with Logy and THEN start and finish Ayesha and Shallie...

I love almost anything that has come out of this game (except Prafta) so I'm sure going to buy it =P

Character design is so much better in Yoru, I can't believe they dropped the ball so hard with this game, the character design was always one of the strongest points of Atelier. Also, I don't like how the battle system works. Not feeling this new Atelier at all.

To me it feels more like a traditional RPG this way. That said, trying to guess who a boss will attack and not being able to adjust until the next turn gets annoying in regular RPGs when you have to deal with an inconvenient turn order, but it's not something I hate. I hope you get a lot of freedom in manipulating turn order.

There we go, 4th song now up on official site, looks like we have our first battle music!

Most of the other new stuff looks to be what was covered in the last news, such as the new characters, day and night cycle, etc. though there is a new wallpaper as well.

I really wish they'd go back to a style of gameplay more like the Iris or Mana Khemia series. The games just haven't jived with me since(and Iris is one of my all time fav RPGs).

While not the same, starting with Escha and Logy they've been bringing back a lot of the systems that made Mana Khemia great, like the back row, switching, and time cards.

All the music is top-tier so far.

Nothing will ever top Totori's battle theme though. :( Half a decade later I'm convinced it's physically impossible.

I hope it means they will have more time to polish the game, which is something that the Atelier series really needs.

But I want it already, fffffff.

So Prachta is a soft cover book huh? It looks so weird with the flowing cover / page bundle, since that it totally a hard cover design.

Seem pretty standard as to what i expect so far, though I'm still curious about that Alchemy system. Also, is it just me or is the music totally overpowering the voices?
