Today I went to Akihabara to get my copy of Halo 2. But I did not even need to plunk down any cash because this man was giving them out from a stack:

Who is he? Does he work for Microsoft? I want that t-shirt.

It looks like I was the only person to accept a copy of Halo 2. I followed him around and saw him attempting to unload his extra copies on other people, but as you can see below, he was nothing short of unsuccessful.

Shibuya Tsutaya, one of Tokyo's most well-known spots for buying new games, had ONE copy of Halo 2 on display, on the BOTTOM shelf, in the middle of a bunch of other games.

For some reason I think it would appeal more in they DIDN'T make it Japanese dub only. I thought the Japanese audience likes english voices for english games. Were GTAIII and VC dub only?

One of the "big" selling point of Halo in Japan was the all star dub. Halo did moderately well in Japan (75000 if I remember correctly) for a Xbox game that is, and I'm convinced the dub had a lot to do with this "success". I don't remember who the Seiyuu were, but I know that's about the only thing MGS Japan did well for the Xbox launch there.
