I agree, the BR sounds super underwhelming, I hope it has more kick to it.. even the sound seemed too shallow and short, muted or not.

Dat lighting. Notice the player's shadows projecting in the weapon.

Such an amazing touch..wow. They should really just release a small bit of footage..all these tiny glances are awkward to glean information from.
 
OK, but I'm just sayin. We've heard these promises before concerning Halo weapon sounds.
Yeah. And Halo has a history of shitty weapon sounds. Halo 3 especially. But 343i has shown that they're putting a ton of emphasis on quality sound design this time, so I wouldn't be too worried.
 
BR in that clip sounds weak, almost silenced. All these shooter devs just need to outsource weapon sounds to DICE.

They already had a vid with a BR soundbite that sounded much louder than what was in the video. Not worried.

Self-shadowing, baby. 720p resolution with FXAA smoothing the edges out. 360 can still put out some good-looking games.
Seriously. It looks so good. Makes me even more hyped for next gen know that a seven year old console can push those graphics.
 
The player models look like they were carved from wax. The geometry looks ok, but that shader isn't looking so good right now in these builds.

The Forerunner environment looks amazing though - glad to see that getting some love after the overly-cluttered look they had in Halo 3. The white/beige coloring and stark angles looks high-tech and yet still (intentionally?) harkens back to classic sci-fi.

I see the rifles still have cased ammunition. Couldn't switch over to caseless or electrothermal propellants after the end of the Covenant war? :)
 
Yes it is. Self Shadowing Glorious.

My gripe with it is that the player's shadow is much darker than the structures shadow. Makes no sense whatsoever. It was always like that in Halo games, but since 343i revamps everything, you'd think they'd something about it.

Simple. Global Illumination causes the shadows the structures make to not be pitch black dark. There is ambient light being simulated to have light being bounced around in the shadowed areas.

The character is in direct sunlight so the contrast between the character and the gun in the shadow is more darker and a higher contrast.

Are the shadows baked into the multiplayer map?
Shame if so had hope on a more realtime solution for forge.
Who knows what we will get for Forge. Maybe they will give the option to bake shadows on multimaps on their side for a small pay.

Its probably a mix of both, the lighting does seem very dynamic this time around so I wouldn't be surprised to see more real time.
 
Given they were the first to port it to a console atleast mentioned on twitter.
A 343I engineer ported it and speed it up with 40%

Love it. There are literally zero jaggies and the game is super sharp. This is the cleanest looking game I've seen and with these graphics WOW. We're in for a treat.
 
Frankie was sooo awkwardly hilarious. Did he comment on the experience and if some of those lines will be in the game.

If I hear Conan say he snuck a few space peanuts mid game im going to die of laughter.
