Hi there, I am the director and creator of Halo: Second Class and we are looking for any talented fans who would like to work on Halo: Second Class.
Halo: Second Class is a full CGI fan film, around 5-10 minutes in length. The story revolved around Team Cyan, a group of Class-II Spartan-IIs, as they work together with various UNSC forces to take out a Covenant Supercarrier that has held a human city hostage.

Here are the positions we need filled in along with their requirements:

Concept Artist:
Designing various armor pieces, weapons, vehicles, backdrops, etc.
Knowledge in any of the following programs: Adobe Photoshop (preferred), Adobe Illustrator, GIMP, Paint.net

Organic 3D Modeler:
Modeling various organic pieces such as bodies, faces, etc.
Knowledge in any of the following programs: Maya (preferred), Max, Zbrush, Blender, Mudbox

Hard Surface 3D Modeler:
Modeling various pieces such as weapons, vehicles, armor, ships.
Knowledge in any of the following programs: Maya (preferred), Max, Zbrush, Blender, Mudbox

Animator:
As it says, animation the scenes. Whether its from Warthogs driving to characters talking:
Programs: Maya, Max, any other 3D animation program.

Texture Artist:
Your job will be to unwrap models and work with the concept artist to create the "skins" for the weapons, vehicles, etc.

Please email your portfolio and or link to halosecondclass@outlook.com
The more people working on this project, the sooner it can be completed. While this isn't a paid position, if you work on the project, a Spartan will be named after you.

Wahrer, sit your ass down and make a portfolio. Most creative fields will not care if you went to college or have game experience if you can blow them away with samples. You lose nothing by applying anyhow. On paper I certainly wasn't qualified for the position I'm in but my boss liked my reel.

Customs are tomorrow, right?

I'm in the camp that we just have captains choose teams.

I uploaded the excel sheet to my site last night, but for some reason it doesn't appear in anything but my media library. It's not the greatest, since it's incomplete, uses mildly outdated Reach stats, and has a lot of people that don't play Halo 4. If anyone really wants it I can send it through email or maybe crowd source it through something like Google Drive.

Might as well make a Google spreadsheet where everyone can post their BPR/CSR, if they care that much.

This was a lot more than just simple BPR/CSR. This was detailed stats from the Competitive stats page on bungie.net, as well as complete Competitive medal info. I submitted it to HaloGAF.com just now as a link to a Google Spreadsheet, so maybe Duncan or Tashi can do something with it.

I'm tempted to apply for concept artist except my portfolio's nonexistent.

Better get busy.

Very true, of all the pro stuff I have done, not one has asked me where I went to school or what I have a degree in.

I just got my first twitter account the other day and I just added HaloGAF to my following :)

If you have some pieces you have completed you can just send them as jpegs, pngs, etc.

Halo: Second Class (No relation to X-Men: First Class.) I was originally going to do this project all by myself but something this big is too much for one person to handle.

Actually, I might have some tangible stuff ready! A large majority of it is vector art (I've done weapon vectors for fan projects in the past) but I have some physical stuff buried in there. I'll see if I can host a .zip on my SkyDrive with a significant portfolio.

I'm also willing to help out with music for free!

I'm trying to film a porno. Do you think you could contribute musically?

Absolutely.

I'll release a single named "Year of the Dong [Cream and Shout Mix] feat. Menachite" sometime this year. It's 15 seconds long and you can loop it indefinitely, as most pornos do.

Sounds great! I won't need to loop it though, 15 seconds is enough for me.

Wish I could join customs tonight but I'm heading outta town. If yall start feeling clusterfucky, my untested map supports 1v1 or 2v2 which, if you really think about it, is pretty much the same as 8v8.

Finally jumped back onto Halo 4 last night after getting pulled away by Diablo 3 for a week or so. It is amazing how squirrely my shot goes after not playing for a little bit. I've always had fun with the game, but it was good to take a break and come back to it.

Now I've regained that FPS itch, too bad it has to come with racist/homophobic slurs, but at least that was kept a fairly small amount. I don't know how you combat that issue, but that part always saddens me a bit.

I know we lost the greatest of heroes in the process (rip KAT'S CHOICE AYUSS), but is anyone else amazed at how non-sexualized Halo 4's femspartans are? In multiplayer, anyway. They're just slightly more dainty. No emphasis on breasts or hips.

Which is weird, considering Cortana's whole Freudian shtick.

Yeah, I'm vaguely surprised and pleased. Now only if we could have more than Space Americans as main characters in this hundreds-of-years-in-the-future saga (that don't get melted on/into Reach).

That being said, I think they did a good job making Chief a blank slate in that regard. While yeah, he's "white," he's from a planet that has little-to-no established racial keystone (such as the Hungarians and Reach) and he's been described as ghastly pale (due to suit time) with brown/graying hair. He was a little gung-ho in Combat Evolved ("how do we use halo against the Covenant," etc.) but seeing everyone die sort of just made him snarky in the rest of the games.

I was kind of disappointed the shot of his eyes we saw made him look like a Republican Space Marine, though. That Christmas card a Bungie artist did that depicted Chief with slightly tanner skin and a fluffier dark brown crew cut is probably my headcanon depiction of him.

It also shipped femsix and the Rookie, which is definitely a thing that should be taken as canon.

EDIT: I like to think femsix in general is canon, because it sets up a brilliant theory out there that Tex in RvB (since she turned out to be an AI based on her creator's old love interest) is retroactively based on Noble Six, who by default is also a rough-and-tough, black armor-wearing Spartan with an eternal propensity for failure.

Isnt just the male model but wearing a corset?

Bungie could allow Alice (or Kelly) to fit role perfectly for Reach.
Also liked more the female noble six too,her actions in campaign were more suitable compared to the male noble six, for example Jorge's death or losing the planet cinematic

True enough, but I always like to give people the opportunity to be cool. I've randomly met a lot of very nice people online. I'm just always surprised and bummed out when somebody starts a off in a lobby immediately with hate speech.

That's why I love the mute button.

The thread over on gaming side of Halo vs Mass Effect made me want to look up some lore stuff regarding the Halo universe. Reading up on the Elites and for what they did post war, I come come across this section:
(Spoilers)

In February 2553, Fleet Admiral Terrence Hood arrived on Sanghelios to formalize the cease-fire with the Arbiter. They met in the state of Vadam and formally ended hostilities. Meanwhile, the Servants were gathering many faithful every day and were being armed by the Office of Naval Intelligence, who wanted to divide the Sangheili. Furthermore, they were able to acquire an intact warship, the frigate Unflinching Resolve, and were preparing to stage a coup to kill the Arbiter and his supporters.

What exactly was ONI's reasoning for wanting to
divide the already incredibly weakened Sangheili civilization
?

Maybe they wanted to prevent any possible future war with the Sangheili.

It's pretty clear that the relationship between Humans and the Sangheili isn't exactly great. If the Humans were to let them regain their previous power there could be war again. However if the Sangheili begin a civil war that would cripple them further, decreasing the chance for war.

Why help the Arbiter fight back then? To keep the "radicals" out of power would make sense. But they're the ones arming them in the first place.

The book has been published and has been out for quite a while. No need to spoiler-tag it.

But it's because they don't know what the Sangheili are going to do. Even though they are pretty weak and have lost the majority of their power, they still have the capability to wreak havoc if they are given the opportunity.

ONI sees them as being of little gainful use to humanity, and want them destroyed - just as a precaution.

It makes sense in a twisted sort of way.

Why help the Arbiter fight back then? To keep the "radicals" out of power would make sense. But they're the ones arming them in the first place.

They want them to fall into a civil war and fight each other to destruction so they don't really have to allocate actual man-power beyond small arms-dealing teams.
