Halo 4 |OT2| TURBO

and if they are essential? it wont change shit. im tired of this line of thinking. "oh i dont wanna read 'X' so i hope it has nothing to do with the games".

play the game and if you have a question about anything just use Halopedia
I didn't read the books before I played Halo 4.
And when I played it and came across the Prometheans A.I., Didact, The Librarian, and The Composer, which I had little knowledge about them before, I was immediately was like "what the hell is going on???" It was pretty bad they didn't tried to better explain who they were and you're the chief trying to stop all this mess plus getting temper tantrum from the ships captian along with other Spartans that DONT EVEN BOTHER TO TALK TO YOU except "oh hey chief!" *salutes* that's it.

Im like WTF are you people?! Haha

Watching the terminals was a biiiig help explaining most of the game except the Infinity and its crew was poorly explained or zero explanation at all.

Yeah i was okay with it, because i read the fucking books.

Lolwut. I must've missed the Halo 4 trailers that had the disclaimer "You must buy extended universe books to get full campaign experience."

And yeah I like lore too? That's why there should be more of it in the games, you know, the primary medium of the story. Why would you want to alienate others who aren't as familiar with it?

I know they didn't have time to put terminals into the game but the terminals should not have even been terminals. They explain everything you need to know. So why would they even think to hide them in the game as a little side project you could discover? They should have been cut scenes from the start.

Using the monks for that Minecraft trailer is proof enough that they need to return. Cut the shit already, damnit. Give us The Arbiter too while you're at it.

ugh so good. Stealth hint at the monks returning in Halo 5?

Worth reading?

I don't think I've read a bulletin in so long. I liked it when bs angel wrote them

It's a 3 minute read, Minecraft pack, Beyond doing a Forge contest (good on those guys for keeping Halo content/events churning out), PeteTheDuck recreates a Mammoth in Forge.

I'm still fairly surprised so much design went into the Mammoth to have it feature so little in game, I wonder if they tried to work it into more campaign/SPOPS missions or multiplayer as a vehicle? Remember the old pirate boat customs from Halo 3? Even a scripted Mammoth blowing up an enemy base when you won/lost would have been a cool escort style war games gametype.

The bulletin this week has solid content considering E3 is like what 11 days away. It's the bitter before the tasty sweetness arrives :)

I miss the banters of Jess but I like Bravo's approach too, overall I think I like the skill/commentating/inside guy side of Bravo a tad more though.

I feel like Bravo is best suited for camera-work, not writing articles. A weekly 3-minute video with links underneath would fit the bulletin's style a lot better. It ain't no beloved Frankie bulletin with waterotica, that's for sure...

Marinate on dat werd!

Wow. Such amaze.
- Halo: everything in one edition confirmed
- RIP Chettlar
- Escalations is escalating
(well actually only the angry discussion in forums)
go Palmer.

Over on Waypoint someone
said the SoF captured Flood spores in cryo for future study, did this happen in escalations? I don't recall it at all in Wars.

Just bought Minecraft and the Halo thingy for it. Hahaha just throw the Halo name on anything and I'll buy it, it seems.

Enjoy my $24, MS.

like I said a few pages back, I've been on the fence for a while. Figured that I might as well. So it's not that bad

Edit. DAT Halo Wars music. This is very cool

I miss This Spartan Life.

My favorites are probably Master Chief Theater 3000 and Matchmaking. Matchmaking's magnum opus is probably Episode 6.

Oim in Belfast.

Eating black pudding.

Frankie is a vampire confirmed?

Video games should never need supplemental information to understand character motivations and plot. It's bad enough that we had to go to an xbox app to get to see the terminals that actually let us know why Didact was more that just a mustache-twirling villain, but suggesting that outside material be essential to understanding/appreciating the plot to a videogame is ridiculous.

I hope we get more ODST-styled text prologues in future games. It'd be a nice way to sum up the series up until that point. Pipe dream would be Chief having memories of all his game adventures dreaming in cryosleep before he wakes up, but I don't see it happening.

For those of us who have steeped in the extended universe, imagining what Halo 4 is like for someone with no background outside of the Halo games is seemingly impossible. It must be a huge challenge for 343 Industries. You would need someone who was an expert on the fiction of the games, but knew literally nothing outside of them. Considering people have been sharing these extended fictional elements by word-of-mouth for years, that is a tall order. I suppose you could recruit a talented writer who is wholly unfamiliar and then teach them the fiction of the games. But then you would have to constantly corral them as they wrote the new work, to bring it in harmony with the details of the overall universe.

Having only read one book and none that related to Halo 4 the campaign was a little confusing. But i feel it was explained sufficiently in the terminals.

The problem with that was firstly you had to go out of your way to find the terminals so wouldn't have the information immediately and secondly you had to leave the game and go to waypoint to view them breaking the flow.

Honestly, even though I know they had to try and make it big in their first title, I was actually hoping Halo 4 didn't have some major, galaxy-threatening conflict. It would have been more interesting (at least imo) if Chief was, for the most part, cut off from everyone save Cortana and had her rampancy form the core of the story while he searched for supplies and information / lore on Requiem, with the actual gameplay conflict coming from automated patrols while the Didact couldn't really do much beyond watch rather than pulling the strings.

That way you could have an almost Mendicant Bias-styled "keep the platforms up before you go over them" style helping hand as was the case at the end of Halo 3, where the Didact started off harshly and flung whatever sentries he could at Chief, only to have some kind of coming-to at the end where he became a pseudo-ally when Chief released him.

How neat would it be if, rather than Chief and Cortana having that little discussion in the hardlight chamber at the end of the game, it was a practically dead rampant Cortana and the still-somewhat-insane Didact that managed to talk it over, and - thanks to Chief and possibly the Librarian - managed to overcome their mutual insanities?

So for the technical folks:
2. Dedicated servers should/could fix the no multiplayer for halo CE. This was the biggest let down of the remake. Problem hopefully solved with dedicated servers. Allowing for MP CE.
You think they would do this for CE or just keep it restricted to Halo 2-4?

This, totally. When I first heard about H4 I imagined a more foreign experience akin to being shipwrecked on Halo's second level, but without the UNSC ever butting in. I was hoping Requiem was going to be something more like Ghosts of Onyx with the installation somewhat barren.

I wanted the lore to take the forefront through osmosis in the environment and not a classical story structure with a dumb UNSC arc again (albeit, they didn't even do something interesting like ODST with ONI). Honestly, I had hoped that this could have been a jumping off point for Halo to get really weird again finding yourself in entirely uncharted area of the galaxy/universe. I didn't want to see Covenant and UNSC and all that shit again -- it would've been nice to make Halo about finding these vast untouched/vacant cultures and societies and figuring out why they're ghost towns. Maybe that's stretching what it is to be 'Halo' but I always found the quiet exploration segments to be the most fun.

Yep, we definitely need Halo 2 Anniversary to happen. With the same art style I hope.

@FUNKNOWN iXi: If the Master Chief Collection is true, I think Halo 2 Anniversary and Halo 4 would be the only multiplayer you can expect.

The first one isn't exist anymore, so it could be a good opportunity to use the dedicated servers. But for Halo 4, the big question would be, if the multiplayer exist for this "remake", if the Xbox 360 would also benefit from the dedicated servers or if it would still use a P2P system.

If the MC collection is true, then it'll only be on the X1
