Halo 4: Review Thread

So Gerstmann essentially gave it the 8.8 treatment. But in actuality Halo 4 only got an 8 out of 10 from him.

I tend to never really feel the reviews from the GB guys, but I <3 their quicklooks and podcasts. Still, Im for sure gonna give it a read.. Hopefully his complaints aren't something Ill end up feeling when playing.

GaintBomb review probably reads more like a 3/5. I can somewhat see myself feeling this way once playing it. Wasn't overly impressed when I learnt that the Covvies were back.

So I guess Heroic is not the "intended" difficulty anymore.
The only review that's has said that is the Polygon review. Don't take that as the final opinion. Trust me, if you're any good at a Halo game, this game is perfectly meant to be played in Heroic. I assure you.

Hmm, Polygon's review stated that the difficulties are harder than before, but Jeff said in the GB review that you can just plow through Normal. I'll still probably start on Heroic, but I wonder which it is.

Pretty sure Frankie said multiple times at events and maybe even in the Halo community thread that Heroic was a lot harder than past iterations. *shrug*

I calibrated my expectations to straight 11's. These reviews are crushing.

343 looks to have done good. That's all I wanted to know. Back to going dark, already had two things I did NOT want spoiled so far. See y'all on the other side.

Troll ?

Have you seen other AAA games reviews this year ?

This one is doing much better then them

It seems to get marks similar to those of Dishonored though (they've got the same metacritic so far, although Halo's one is bound to fluctuate a lot in the next few hours).

They felt a 20 point scale doesn't really reflect the difference between a 9.4 game and a 9.6 one, so they went back to the 100 scale.

BUT THE WHOLE POINT WAS TO DIFFERENTIATE BETWEEN SMALL, INSIGNIFICANT 0.1 DIFFERENCES

GAH

Giantbomb: " I felt like much of the promise inherit to this potentially new setting had been squandered. Maybe that's on me for wanting Halo to be something other than Halo"

The bolded should put Gianbomb in to context. All throughout the review reeks of disappointment that it's too Halo. Too much like older games.

LOL @ people trying to stirr up controversy with the Eurogamer review (which is glowing). We are not that petty. Grow the fuck up.

Its not really surprising, they've talked about on the podcast how excited they were by the potential of the story and setting. His complaints sound totally valid in regards to his expectations, and I think overall it was a good review.

I think more than anything, the only thing that Halo reviews mean to me is making sure the game isn't broken like RE6 or something. The real verdict won't be known for a while (like Reach).

So basically, this is more Halo business as usual.

Good. I love Halo and I were worried they would turn it into something else.

by the conclusion of Halo 4's story, I felt like much of the promise inherit to this potentially new setting had been squandered.

Wouldn't it be "inherent?" Weird place to ask that question, but I where else would I go?

Sounds like 343 didn't really bring much new to the table.

Pass.

9s across the board seem pretty low for a game like this. 343 must be scratchin their heads. layoffs probably incoming.

I mean that 9.0 from Gamespot. That had to have been AT LEAST a 9.5 to hold my interest.

come on man

edit: 8 from Eurogamer? Ouch, that means Halo 4 is better than [Game X].

lol eurogamer review

Uncharted 3 > halo 4.

SUCK IT!

I can understand that to a point, I was a bit disappointed when I heard how much of the Covenant we will be fighting and how little new enemies(and no Forerunner vehicles) we were getting. Right now I'm hoping they chose to open the trilogy like this to ease players in, but go all out Forerunner starting with game#2 of the trilogy.
