They should use the lighting trick gears 3 does with distant enemies, the thurther away someone is the more of their team's colour glows from them, just enough to tell who is who.

Right now you can more or less hide in the shadows better then others if you are blue.

This would be a good addition. Right now on midship a blue guy across the map is actually pretty tough to spot if he isn't actively shooting at someone.

Doesn't feel like Halo.
Controls are wonky at best.
Level design in the single new level is abysmal.
Midship remake is terrible and far too dark.
Too many bleeps and bloops.
Sound mix is terrible, far too much going on to be able to concentrate in heated moments.
Far too much visual clutter.
Spartan Bros are down right insulting.
Battle chatter is annoying - wheres the off switch?
Thrusters feel inconsequential.
Time to Kill is ridiculously low.
Standard moment feels sluggish and unresponsive.

virtually all of this is so wrong.

That's sorta why I brought up the bots thing. To me, anyone who doesn't have a history of playing Halo competitively is usually the one complaining about TTK.

Yea, anytime I see a complaint of long kill times in any Halo my eyes glaze over. Hate to sound rude, but you have no idea how to play the games if you think the TTK is high.

There's nothing wrong with SWAT. Halo has always been a playground for different play styles.

SWAT is not what Halo is about, and trying to use it as the basis of modernizing Halo is foolish. It's a popular fringe gametype, just like Griffball.

Dani, are you using Recon? Default controls to a Halo fan are going to be tough to swallow.
 
Holy shit I forgot this was out. How is the matchmaking holding together? Not gameplay wise but getting people into an actual online multiplayer game? MCC has soured me so much.

Can you not change the controls? I keep pushing b to melee

I'll see what they change in the main game, but right now I won't be buying. Might as well keep playing the beta though. Not like MCC works or anything

Low ttk is the thing I like least about most modern shooters. If COD: AW had higher ttk's it would be a really good multiplayer game imo. I want interesting shootouts, I want precision to take precedence, I want my guns to have different attributes that can only be felt with different kill times. CounterStrike is one of the only exceptions to that, but that game has insane weapon recoil and no aim assist. Even then, its true gametype is round based; deathmatch CS is not fun to me.

I just got absolutely wrecked by two semi-pro and two Onyx players. They completely controlled the map. It didn't help two people on my team were new and still getting their first 10 games :3

Games should not be designed around the experience of a player who is lagging. If I am lagging then a short TTK is worse for me because I can get hit and killed even before I realise...it works both ways you see. In fact that's worse cause with low TTK the lagging player will always lose and this is where games start to incorporate ridiculous amount of lag compensation..and it all turns to shit for everyone. Also please don't exaggerate by saying things like half an hour to kill, an encounter barely lasts more than 5 seconds.

I've played Halo from third world countries where the lag is high and I've played it from my resident country UK with little to no lag and I've managed fine because high TTK provides me with a fighting chance rather than turning the match into who saw who first.


Also Team Fortress 2 on PC has the highest traffic out of any FPS on PC and it has high TTK to very high TTK.

But as an Australian, laggy Halo is all I've ever known and that is why I love SWAT. I almost completely eliminates the impact lag has on a match. As long as I shoot first and my shot is accurate, even with lag, 9 times out of 10, the enemy will die.

Last night, I rage quit for the first time ever in a match because I just kept dying in 2 seconds REGARDLESS of weapon they were using and I just couldn't kill anyone no matter what. My first 2 matches must have been on AU servers because people were dying far far quicker than they were in the subsequen matches. So it could be that my frustration with "traditional" Halo has been a result of lag all along?

The ranking system is totally bogus. Bring back 1-50, 343. Halo 3 had the best damn matchmaking ever.

i actually dont think it is. there are just a shit ton of "unranked" players the game doesnt know what to do with at this point. the last day of the early access beta was nothing but 49-50 matches of like ranked players.

Sorry, but it's a beta and not a finished game. We can't ask the world from them when the game is a year out. Sucks for international GAF, but its the sad truth

Sorry, but the "its a beta" rhetoric doesn't work in this case.

Just take a look at The Master Chief Collection. No option to select data center and a massive amount of complaint from user outside the United States, with many not even able to find matches.

343i doesn't believe in data center selection, and it's screwing it's users. There's time to change it, but I'd be shocked if they did.

This is the total hotness for me right now, love it!
I just need to get out of this shit tier, love the ranking system and every gun feels like it's got a use and punch to it.

Just getting into the BR can always get the gun I want if I want it I a few seconds too.

Yeah, lots of people have been complaining about the different mapping options, it's pretty clear they're not very good at the moment.

I do agree that most of his post was rubbish. He is right that they could have better control options though.
 
can't wait for some no radar game types.

i started playing with a bunch of crouch walking campers today which brought me back to my days of playing Halo 2 matchmaking where it was nothing but crouch walking campers.

there should be no camping in halo. thats not what the game is about even with radar on.
