Halo 5: Guardians Beta Thread | Hot Red on Blue Action

a penalty would be a dream. but I don't think it would happen. I wish so much of the community would understand that they are ruining this. wouldn't surprise me if the same thing is happening in MCC too, and that is what causes such long delays.

Definitely don't see them doing it. Reach did 15 minutes penalties for excessive quitters. Happened to me a couple times due to my bad internet connection back then and to my buddy who rages.

At least do a 5 minute penalty. Its just long enough for you be annoyed but not long enough for you to play another game because you can't wait.

Scale it up to 20 minutes for people who do it excessively.

Here is what I find keeps happening:

Searching for players

players join

low level players see they're up against high level players

low level players quit

(some times the high level players quit if they think they're teamed with low level players)

now that players have quit, the rest of us are screwed as it has maybe a 10% chance of putting new players in, and we can't back out.

quit game and try again.

this happens about 3 out of every 4 times for me.

343 not knowing how to create proper UI/server stuff + terrible community = pain in the ass to just get in a game.

Can't say I've ran into any of these problems. Folks will quit once the game has been going for a few minutes, but this is Halo so nothing new there, lol.

5 minutes would be a dream for me in Halo 5. With the whole process of having to quit the game, relaunch, wait, etc., doing that 3 times in a row before getting a game it could be 10 mins or more. :/
You don't have to quit the game if you wanna back out of a party, just snap the Party app - > leave multiplayer.

It has become Halo, that's for sure. But why just accept that instead of us getting 343i to fix it or at least try to deter it?
Accepting it means they'll do nothing and there'll always be a ridiculous amount of quitters instead of just the rare one.

I've been stopped mid sprint by being shot before. It also puts your shields in a long as hell cool down. It's damn near perfect.

Seriously

I FUCKING SUCKED at prior Halos and for some reason I'm kicking' ass with H5. I honestly believe it's the combination of players not being bullets sponges finally and the added mobility system

It's fucking perfect

Nades are fine. What's causing people to spam them is that they have a hit marker. So as soon as you chuck a nade and get a hitmarker you chuck another one instead of moving in to finish the job with a gun.

Remove nade hit marker and watch it be a non issue in seconds.

Grenades need some reworking.
They take too long to detonate but have a bit too potent blast.

Basically making so if you are at a distance you are carrying artillery. While near enemies you'll die before they detonate, but with their powerful blasts it is like a martyrdom effect. Resulting in them being not too good for actual firefights.

Suggest bringing them closer to, but not quite, Halo 3 level. Effective in firefights but not too powerful.

It IS like this, lol. If you try to sprint away while getting shot, you won't sprint. The only way you get away is if you're not shot.

I've been able to sprint away from gun battles when someone gets the upper hand on me maybe they missed one shot and that allowed me to get away? I wonder how long the "stun" lasts because if it is really short it would create an advantage for automatic weapon users due to them having more bullets that fire faster.

Which IMO is super frustrating.

Nah, someone losing a battle and running away is frustrating. Sprint is such a non issue in this game. It allows for far more interesting clamber jumps, so I'm ok with it personally.

If you hit top speed with the wind effect, you won't be knocked out of it.

I would honestly prefer base movement speed being increased a tiny bit and removing sprint, it's annoying to use and to shoot at.

I can't see much changing from the beta to the final outside of tweaks, 343i have their plans and will most likely stick to them, I can't see them changing something as big as removing sprint.

They really need to make guns stick out more. Especially with them focusing on showing power weapons to presumably make it easier to know the spots, I constantly stumble past guns not even realizing it.

Still, I'm pretty impressed overall considering how far off this is.

Wow, glad there was a demo , reminded me why I quit playing halo. The boards are like a spiral staircase with best weapons at the top . The assault rifle is garbage . I'll chalk it up to just not my type of game , every battle ends up players 5 to 10 feet away strafing circles or left to right . I liked combat evolved , but brings back memories of why we all went to cod and bf

Say wat?

I have to question. If you actually played.

The core gunplay is generally amazing. The movement is good but still doesn't touch a game like Crysis 2 multiplayer. Kill times are too fast with automatics...I understand 343 is probably trying to make the game more welcoming to new folk, but when I miss 1 or maybe 2 shots with the pistol and a dude gets a sloppy as hell AR kill on me it feels like I've been cheated. The sniper feels pretty janky and the sword shouldn't speed up your running speed. The pistol, br and dmr compliment eachother perfectly. Frag grenades are slightly OP but being able to thrust away from them makes it ok.

Both maps are good but nothing special to me. They also look pretty uninspired which is weird after watching The Sprint and seeing how much effort the art department was putting in.

Matchmaking is terrible, it's currently my biggest concern. It's a beta, but 343 aren't doing themselves any favors by keeping it that low on their priority list. Maybe they need to hire some new network engineers, because someone over there ain't doing what needs to be done.

Just some general thoughts, by the end of the beta I'll give a much more fleshed out critique where I'm not laying on my bed typing on a small phone.
