This is what I've always thought about the Halo sandbox and it annoys me to no end that "pro" players NEED to have br starts. Great, now it's a non-stop pinging session across the map. And now we have perfectly good starter weapons in Halo 5 beta and those same people still aren't happy with having 5 br's and dmr's strewn around the map.

What constantly confuses me, is why must bad players try to force derp rifle starts all the time all the while crying about "variety" while they derp along in a straight like spraying their precious derp rifle?

BR starts mean the better players win. I guess that's why you hate it so much.
Good players play against good players. Good players control the BR spawns. With AR starts good players destroy average/bad players because good players don't lose their BRs and bad players have to play with the AR/Pistol. They need to buff the pistol's range, maybe then AR starts would work at higher level.Except we don't just use the assault rifle. The point is we can pick up a BR and actually stand a chance against somebody better who is currently mid range away but with an AR. Now it's just back to BR only and never touch other weapons. Yay for Halo.
I don't get why pro players need to spawn with the BR. If they're so good, shouldn't they be good enough to pick up and of the 6 BR's strewn around the map?
if you've played a good team watching your spawns with BRs when you've spawned with an AR, you wont want to ever spawn with an AR again.

I can imagine, and I'm not an elite player so I don't know the pain of playing ultra organized teams that would take advantage of that, but a very small percentage do and a beta with only 1 or 2 playlists shouldn't be subject to that.

I'm all for helping to ensure/bring back the competitive nature in Halo, but there should be a seperate playlist if it's going to get rid of elements that add variety and fun to the game. I like starting off with slightly underpowered weapons, not sure why but it makes picking up a BR or DMR feel good and it makes me feel like I have a bit of an edge in doing so.
I find that AR starts are good for people that don't have precise aim, like to run in a wiff, don't have any concept of map control, and don't pay attention to sight lines. If you are constantly dying from precision weapons cross map then it may be time to rethink running around aimlessly.

On another note, regret is pure hot garbage. Just like that pitiful excuse remake of the pit in Halo 4. Oh, what a great idea, lets throw horse shit in random parts of the floor and make grenades bounce completely randomly.

It needs to be AR+BR starts.Any distinction of slayer gametypes need to be AR Slayer and BR Slayer.
BR starts work for everyone of every skill level.
BR starts work for everyone of every skill level. Derprifle starts ONLY work for low level players. Why should the game be a broken mess for good players because of your supposed variety?
But if that doesn't happen, the two gametypes need that title difference.It needs to be AR+BR starts.
It gives a low level player a leg up for sure, but that's the point. Those low level players will still get outclassed by better players a vast majority of the time but it at least rewards them for doing some things right. Once those players get better, they'll move to other weapons as the skill ceiling is only so high with the AR. There may be some unfortunate overlap, for example a player that's only decent chooses the pistol every time and gets destroyed by the newbie with the AR, and that's "not fair" because he chose the more skilled weapon. But I don't have a problem with that. I do have a problem with nobody playing Halo because it's not beginner friendly. Play some Crysis 2/3 online...that game has fucking great multiplayer but the learning curve is incredibly steep and therefore died upon it's arrival.
That's why I think they've always kept the AR/pistol starts in; not to ignore the vocal elite but to make a game that anybody can at least get into and get some kills. I just don't think it's balance breaking at most skill levels, but I think BR starts can be fun breaking for a lot of people. I definitely believe there should be at least a couple BR start playlists with the game's release, I have nothing against that.
Edit: Plus I personally think the AR is pretty fun in this game, way more fun than it's ever been before. Pistol is great too.

Since the patch I've noticed more instances of what I see and what the killcam shows not lining up, especially when the sword is involved.This is the shit that annoys me:

Clearly predicted his lunge and outmaneuver him but I still die because? Lag? Lunge range is super tracking? I guess super split-second plays like that will never be perfect though.
Pro in AR start should be dominating anyway. BR is like a power weapon against AR. Only lose in really close quarters and a Pro should keep a close quarters gun for those occasions. In other words, a pro should dominate no matter the starting weapon. Otherwise, they shouldn't be considered a pro.
Having a weapon off spawn that lets you compete with power weapons while still giving power weapons an advantage should always be the norm. BR starts do this.
I'm in love with Breakout. It's game over with that BR.
