Halo 5 Guardians: #huntthetruth

Hey, I'd be interested in seeing the writeup myself. I just think that making it a thread is a terrible idea.

I think it would be fine. You'd have a couple of idiots probably shitting up the first few pages with inanity but then it would die down into reasonable discussion.

If you're expecting no discussion of 343's writing ability, then yea, probably don't make it.

Something everyone in this thread is forgetting about the Spartans ages is that this is 500 years in the future:
A: Medical Science has probably produced near miracles in the anti aging department
B: Nutritional Science has also presumably gone under massive leaps
C: The Spartans Augmentations are definitely playing a factor in how they age. No Spartan has died of Old age but if any did it would be a LONG time.

I thought they spent so much time in cryo, that their ages are just extended.

Ugh, yes, I totally love those scope helmets. I'm glad 343 didn't shy away from something so garish. It gives the feeling of a walking machine and exudes cold, unemotional ferocity. It's perfect for Linda.

I'm on the 3rd mission on Halo 1 in the MCC series. My goal is to beat al 4 of the game before May 18. I'm sorry but Halo 1 seems a bit boring to me; I know I've been spoiled by having Halo 3 be my first Halo game--plus I've been playing other shooter games that makes me feel like I'm a beast. I feel like I'm already dying so much and having so little ammo in he gun fights I get into.

I hope this experience gets better, I just want to know the story for Halo 5.
You shouldn't really be having an ammo problem. Try switching up the weapons you're using. All guns except for the Needler are really solid. The plasma rifle and plasma pistol are surprisingly accurate at range -- use them when you run out of pistol ammo. And when you're fighting the flood just make sure to use human weapons.

I'll wait a bit till E3, we're so close anyways.

I'll take the time to let the situation cool down and improve it/make it pretty.

Any suggestions feel free to PM!

Was going to do a "Meet Blue Team"/"Meet 'Red/Lock' Team" kinda thing.

Alroight. Lookin forward to it.

I'm a huge Halo fan (the games)...but I never got a chance to read the books and learn about everything the lore has to offer. Everything I'm hearing on these boards make me think how amazing it would be if we were able to get HBO, particularly the staff who works on GoT, to create an amazing on going series based on the entire Halo novels.

The storyline would expand from the childhood, abduction, and experimentation of Spartans, to the discovery of the Covenant race, to learning about the Forerunner's/Flood's origins, and etc... As long as they have people who care about the Halo universe to do it, it'll turn out amazing like GoT did.

C is the weakest argument in the existence of arguments. I've never died so I must be living to 500.

While this is completely true it does ignore that the physical and chemical augmentations that Spartan IIs went through were incredibly stressful to their bodies and could very well shorten their lives.

The oldest Spartan IIs are those that serve at UNSC or ONI and have not taken part in cryosleep due to disabilities caused during the augmentation process and they are 47 at the oldest.

God I hated that part of the movie.

let's play 4 player co-op when this puppy comes out

We don't have good info on if the Spartan II's augmentations have negative side effects to aging once they have been successfully implemented but when Buck received his SIV treatments it was mentioned that it would extend his life.

I highly doubt it's shortening their lives. I believe quite the opposite. The SIIs are the finest physical specimens in the history of Humanity, have the most comprehensive diet and have access to medical technology we can hardly dream of.

And to top it all off Cryo preventing aging during X amount of time they were in it.

We know that the augmentations were so devastating that a lot of the Spartans that went through it died or were physically disabled.

LASO, love will allow us to make it through.

Yes to the ones whose bodies rejected it! Those who had successful procedures however have been in literally perfect medical condition for the past 30 or so years. (with the exception of battle field injuries)

Now I certainly won't argue the effects stress has on the normal human body however Spartans brains are specifically augmented to handle stress better than any human in history.

Another one to add to the list

D: The Spartans have all lost various Limbs/Organs from combat that have been replaced by flash clones. Assuming the cloned organs are healthy they are receiving new organs on a semi regular basis. That's gotta help. Their internal organs may be younger than their actual ages.

You might wanna re read C again and rethink what I am saying because you are missing the point entirely.

No, I think that's fair. They're all middle aged. Which Spartan has has the opportunity to die of old age, which even in the 21st century is 70+?

There are no dragons around, therefore my dragon repelling services are working.

Anywho, I've never been under the impression that Halo humanity has vastly longer lives than we do. Parangosky was maybe ahead of most of our 90 year olds in mobility, but she was starting to hurt, and needed a cane. I don't think she had much longer in her.

I remember doing a writeup on this very topic in the Lore thread. Pretty much in summary, In the Halo Universe you have 2 ages. Your actual age, and your biological age. Your actual age is calculated via subtracting your date of birth from the current year. Eg, John is 47 as of 2558.

Your second age is your biological age. Your Biological Age is more complicated. When a person is within cryosleep, they essentially age extremely slowly, to the point where it is almost non-existent. For your biological age, you essentially have to calculate how much time you spent in Cryosleep, then subtract that amount of time from your actual date. In Johns case, having been a soldier since a child and him having to go into Cryo continuously for long periods of time due to his profession, It is likely his biological age is a few years younger, putting him somewhere between his late 30's or early 40's.

isn't Master Chief actually more "advanced" then any other human in the halo verse at this time because of the events of 4? he had his dna "accelerated" or something

Yes but I think it has more to do with having a immunity to forerunner technology than anything they would help in a fight against other Spartans.

The librarian said that he will unlock the hidden powers with that manipulated dna over time or something like that. Cant remember the exact quote

There is a theory that he is part of Librarian's plot to help humanity acquiring the Mantle, and he might possess the geas of IsoDidact/Bornstellar.

This is the most stupid thing about the story. Why couldn't they just go with luck? You don't have explain everything to make a good story, quite the opposite.

Yeah, 'luck' is so much simpler. It's not something that needed explaining in the first place. Like midichlorians.

All humans are reclaimers so they can use the forerunner technology. I guess they wanted to make something exclusive to John. Mabye it's the key how John can rescue cortana (as far as I remember the librarian in Halo 4 was also just an kind of AI of the librarian). We dont know if this modified dna will matter at all in the upcoming story or if it just was to make him immune to the composer.
Is it part of an update or counted as DLC?

Ordered an Xbox One last night and it comes with a digital version of MCC...just intrigued.

Thanks
It's part of an update.

My hope is they downplay that stuff a bit going forward. They can continue to expand on the Librarian's plans and draw connections here and there, but don't do it to the effect that everything is based on 'space lady-imposed destiny'. The inexplicable "luck factor" has always been a thing I found unique and intriguing in Halo and I'd rather it not all get torn up in favor of midi-chlorians and "Chosen One" prophecies.

Yea, I really would love maps free as well.

Some cool cosmetic changes would be nice but nothing too crazy. For instance, please no rainbow colored guns.

I also wouldn't mind some non-interactive ads on the mainscreen/menu/matchmaking screen. For example, an ad for a movie launching next friday, or monster, etc.
