I'm not going to argue with people who think walking around Mombasa as an ODST is "gritty" and in any way comparable to shooting your action scenes from a shaky cam on a gun and where whole sequences are shot handheld.
The Jenkins cam is novel in that it's the only "found footage" sequence in the entire franchise, not because it's a common stylistic device.
It was never an argument, more a debate. And considering ODST was literally a noir detective mystery with serious gritty undertones particularly in the found logs, I find your reluctance to accept it odd.
The grit in ODST is not "walking around Mombasa as an ODST" it comes from the fact you are alone, trying to piece together multiple stories in a short time frame while fighting an overwhelming occupying force with little to no knowledge of whether your team is alive. Its quite a dark and emotionally taxing experience, something I found most obvious when encountering the corrupt cop at the end if you find the audio logs.
Blomkamp has used some shaky gun cam yes. But then Ridley Scott has been using dark corridors and steam for years and people still watch his movies, and despite some of the cringey writing I enjoyed Nightfall.
You still have yet to show what makes blomkamp such a terrible choice, particularly considering how good Landfall was.
Again, take a chill pill, talk like a reasonable adult and not someone throwing a tantrum because others have a differing opinion. I personally don't need to convince you to see my point of view, but I'd appreciate your respecting it, rather than the condescending responses you've given me and the others disagreeing with you
