Halo Infinite | Tech Preview Two | Sept 24-27 | Oct 1-3

The aiming on controller is the only thing keeping me from completely enjoying this game. I've messed with every sensitivity/deadzone setting and I cannot seem to get one that feels good. I keep getting dominated in PvP against PC players to the point where I just feel exhausted.

Something felt off with Halo 5's aiming but this is on a whole other level.

Try:
5 or 7 Look Deadzones. (default is 12 I think)
3.5 or 3 Horizontal and Vertical Sensitivity. (default is 4 or 5)
1 or 2 Aim Acceleration. (default is 2)

Thats what I use after not being able to aim at first - and im now donking on fools like im playing MCC.

I doubt it has anything to do with PC players and more just controller players who are exploiting the console aimbot to its fullest.

I've played fps exclusively on PC for the last 4 years at least. Not insane good or anything but get plenty of them hackusations. Typical problem of weapons being balanced around insanely high magnetism that doesn't exist on M&K

Fire up my xbone controller, first fast paced shooter on it in years, getting consistent perfects and rarely going more than 2 shots passed it. All this while the aiming feels like garbage.

The tip? Use strafing. The game will do most of the aiming for you.

It's sad to see that it has Halol 5s babies first FPS aim assist with a layer of very bad aim acceleration and response curves.

1 Aim Acceleration feels very good against bots right now. Will try in pvp later.

Halo 5 has some of the most ridiculous aim assist in any game. If I pick up the sniper in H5 I expect to get a kill for every bullet since it just tracks their heads. I can’t hit anything in Infinite though.

I think a big problem is that the sidekick drops all aim assist past ~20 feet. It’s the starting precision weapon so you end up having mid to long range battles with it and with 0 aim assist PC dominates that situation every time.

Halo Infinite looks so good on PC.

Some of the texture-work is just *chef kiss*

Totally agree. Something feels off... Bungie updated the controller settings for Destiny 2 recently and it feels perfect. I hope 343 can add some of those additional settings for us controller players.

Also, have they said if console and PC players will automatically play with each other or will it be opt in?

First match I got to play, game crashed on my randomly shooting someone. Game would freeze and fail to load if my controller was on when I launched the game..

Edit: Turned controller off and launched the game, turn it back on when in the menu and it just rumbles uncontrollably.

Is the blue fuzz normal?

Crashed again, think I'll wait for the full version.

Ok after many, many hours of play time here's my only complaint (it's close to perfection): sliding could use some work.

Once you slide you're locked into the slide animation, you can break out of it by jumping, but you can't break out of it early by hitting the sprint button or something like that. Also, after you jump, you need to wait about half a second after you land before you can initiate a slide. You can't combo a jump --> slide.

I get it's an attempt to balance it...HOWEVER slide has already been balanced - it's slow and short as hell compared to Halo 5. Now this is totally fine, but also removing the ability to cancel out of it or initiate it after a jump leaves us with a slide that just doesn't feel as responsive as it could be.

Or they could just remove it since it adds absolutely nothing positive to the game

Thinking of putting together a list of all the locations the shitty clamber mini game is nothing but a detriment to gameplay and map design

Can anyone explain to me the team damage rules, I'm a bit confused (I'm talking about Slayer specifically).

If I recall correctly, Halo 5 had full team damage - bullets and nades (I could be remembering this wrong). I distinctly recall the auto-chatter like "hey stop shooting me!" or whatever.

In this game, I think there's no team damage at all, however your nades can still hurt yourself but not team mates. Is that right? I've killed myself by accident a few times but never a team mate. I feel the rules have changed but haven't quite put my finger on it yet.

This game is honestly so fun, I suck ass with KB + M, the aiming im good at but I can't move or use the keyboard for shit, so I switched to the controller and the aiming feels a tad off, any recommended pad settings?

So pumped for this to come out

I am having issues with melee vs equipment vs reload. Played so much MCC Halo 3 that Halo Infinite throws me off a bit.

I'm pretty sure there's like a slide buffer (at least on controller). I noticed that if I pressed B to crouch hop mid-air I would automatically go into a slide once I touched the ground, without needing to hold B. Gets kinda annoying. But you definitely can cancel out of a slide by jumping, I've done it plenty of times.

There is no team damage, period. That's just the spartan teammate chattering.

I’ve never played halo on PC so I might give it a go today to see how it feels. I’ve got a 5800/3070/UW VRR monitor so should be a different experience to on Xbox.

Based on MP leaks, some mode will have friendly fire and some will not.

I tried this and confirmed why it's not for me. Halo single player, all over it. Multiplayer (in anything, not just Halo) doesn't click for me - looks great but I will never play it. I hope 343 put enough focus on single player content for people like me.
