Just one of those things that comes down to personal preference.

But you know something is wrong when a huge majority of the community outright declares they hate the game and the direction it's going in, also the MP population drop off speaks for itself.

The people want Halo, 4 was something else.

Well you did just say that it comes down to personal preference, so i'm not sure it's fair to say Halo 4 was "Something else" to me it was very Halo.

But, i do see your point with the population drops and a lot of complaints. I do agree game developers should look at what the majority is saying, even if i am not part of the majority. Also, i can see how multiplayer upset people, it changed a lot of the core way the multiplayer had always functioned. It's when people say the Halo 4 campaign was bad that truly boggles my mind....it was such a well crafted, engaging and wonderful campaign.

But like you said, it's all personal preference.

I have so many great memories of Halo 2. I got it on the day of release; I was 12 at the time and I excitedly waited for my Dad to return from work with my preordered copy from Game. He surprised me with a copy of the strategy guide and I remember flicking through it and the manual to see the new weapons and enemies for the first time.
"Yes! You can now use the sword"

"Drones. I bet these will be fun to fight". How little I knew then.

I began Cairo station, my dad watching me after months of listening to me counting down the days to launch.I'll Never forget that night, basked in the glow of the TV with the haunting music blaring away.

Metropolis is one of my favorite ever campaign missions - I must have played the opening bridge sequence 100 times.

Playing this remastered anniversary edition will be like coming home. The great journey awaits..

I enjoyed the campaign, but it didn't live up to the prior games, just too many little problems. The new enemies were just boring to fight, it lacked the scale of the previous games, weapons disappeared, bad AI, death rivers and just plain forgettable encounters. The other games all had bad missions, but also lots of great ones. Halo 4 was just ok throughout, just nothing really memorable. Actually I did quite enjoy that Deathstar run, but that lasted all of 5 minutes.

Tl;dr yolo

Frankie is the Iron skull turned off by default for legendary co-op now in Halo 2? That was so annoying back in the day.

My first memory of seeing the game up close was leaving my biology class in grade 12 to take a piss and as I'm walking down hall, I see my chemistry 11 teacher who used to bring his Xbox to class, he's got the kids doing some test or just reading, and he's got it hooked up to the class television, and is playing. And because I had to wait till school was over to go home and pick it up, I'm awestruck just watching the game play, and for almost 8 minutes I'm just standing there looking through the door. And as the first mission ends, he sees me and says go back to class in front of everyone. My bio teacher was telling me wtf, you were gone for so long.

He was a great teacher, huge Halo fan. We'd play matches and matches of CE sometimes during or after class. Last I heard after I graduated he got married, had a kid, is an assistant principal somewhere. Don't know if he ever continued with the series with 3/Reach/4. Hard to believe it was almost 10 years ago.

Um, how was he allowed to do that?

My halo 2 experience -

I'm Canadian and was living abroad in Australia. I missed my family but got to play Halo 2 with my brother and that made it better. Due to the time difference I'd be playing at night and he'd be playing in the morning, however it was so much fun.

I actually brought my Xbox to australia with me, and had to buy a transformer to convert from 240 to 120, about $200, to use my xbox. I should have bought a new xbox in retrospect ;)

Um, how was he allowed to do that?

No clue. Everyone knew he was a gamer and fan and used to bring his Xbox to class and play, and when I was in his Chem 11 class, we'd have a few matches of CE multi-player where he would destroy us.

I guess he was just too big a fan and couldn't resist. I mean I don't think anyone from class would've complained. Hey, our teacher was playing Xbox in class. He was a nice and cool guy and one of hose teachers everyone likes. It's crazy, I have the situation almost photographically pictured in my mind exactly as it was happening too and it was almost 8 years ago.

The television was one of those crt tube televisions on a swivel stand too up on the wall near the corner.

am I the only one who has romantic memories of collosus

lol

That was the very first map I played in Halo 2 when I got online, so it does indeed hold a special place in my heart.

Can anyone please discern the difference between how regular and Anniversary Halo 2 play? Frankie please? The remade maps look really cool, but I am curious how close it will feel to Halo 2.

Have you played Halo 4? Especially when they have gametypes like slayer pro or legendary BR's etc. Would play somewhat similar. It seems like it is an equal starts, no flinch, no load outs or perks, on map weapons, increased player movement, no sprint gametype.

That's a pretty cool Wife you have.

She's the best! Got it last week and I'm officially reformed. We love Kinect; being able to get to our favorite movies and TV shows with voice commands is a gamechanger. Snap works a lot better than I thought too! I use it often.

Microsoft had such a strong showing at E3 as well. I'm really excited for the future of Xbox One!

My halo 2 experience: I have none :(

I was strictly a PC gamer most of my gaming life. I did play Halo:CE on PC and that was fun. Besides that time and the occasional play at a friends house, my halo history is pretty nonexistent.

I'm sure you can understand how excited I am for this. Was the best E3 announcement for me, even with knowing beforehand due to the nktrnl leak.

I've played a lot of Halo 4...so basically it'll be Halo 4 but with very specific settings that mimic Halo 2. I assume the weapons will also function like in Halo 2? Either way - I'll probably check out H2A, but the best experience will be back in the original multiplayer. Can't wait for that one.

Don't worry, we'll make new Halo history together! New memories!

one of my favourite things about Halo 2 was the asymmetrical maps for the objective game type like 1 Flag and Assault. I loved Ivory Tower, Burial Mounds, Coagulation, Turf, and the one with the train (forgot the name haha) for those objective game types. I haven't enjoyed playing objective game types as much in other FPS games since.

oh, and I REALLY hope proximity mic is back for Halo 2. It was so fun being able to hear what your enemies are plotting while sneaking up on them. another touch that I loved was when your teammates mics would cut out with a death sound when they died in the game. I guess party chat will kill this feature, but hey, it's worth an ask. one of my favourite Halo 2 memories was when a guy on the other team was beatboxing and I always knew when he was coming because you would slowly hear beatboxing getting louder and louder haha. I just remember in the post-game summary the whole other team was yelling at him.
The voice chat was amazing. I remember hoping in warthogs of the opposing team and talking shit to the driver and gunner. Sucks that party chat killed the experience.

Great story, welcome.

I wish I had a Halo 2 story. I skipped school and played all through the night following the midnight release. I did not enjoy it. I finished the game pretty quickly, and outside of a handful of moments was consistently disappointed. I remember being almost offended when that Hoobastank song started playing. The pop in and cutscenes were so bad I thought there might have been something wrong with my disc. I distinctly remember one cutscene where animations had not been added to a Grunt who ran away from a Brute. He just sort of... Floated away. The impression was of a game that was not yet complete.

I still think the campaign is pretty lousy, and definitely the worst of the series. There is so much empty space, and the environments were universally ugly. And yet, I am excited to replay it. Maybe I'll appreciate it more with a new coat of paint.

Might be worth mentioning that I also find it the most difficult Halo game. Cairo Station on legendary is some next level twisted shit.

O gosh I'm just remembering the Prophet "boss fight" and Mater Chief punching an old man to death in his wheelchair.

I know it was H2 that really got the series rolling with multiplayer, but I was so soured by the campaign I never got into it. When I go back and play now, I still feel that H:CE is the better game. It has aged more gracefully. It is more fun to play.

So, because some basic questions are simply coming again and again - I tried to make an easy-to-understand infographic about Halo: The Master Chief Collection.

Info compilation by Zoba, l RyanW l and StalkerUKCG - thanks! Photoshop by me. Informations are redundant in comparison to the first post in this thread, yet I created this because an image often is easier to share and maybe more clear.

I also include the .psd file to make it more open and if changes are required.

Created for r/xboxone and HaloGaf.

When Halo 2 came out, I was with my ex-gf and we had a huge fight because I wanted to go to my friends house to play it instead of going out with her hahahahaha. We aren't together anymore so I am so glad.

My current GF would play Halo with me. Uber.

Very good idea, should clear up a lot of things. I have no doubt in my mind that there will still be people asking redundant questions, haha.

Does anyond know how H2A skulls are going to work yet? Will they immediately activate upon picking them up like in the original? Or will you just have to activate them all in the lobby. Skull hunting was one of the great features of Halo 2, and losing the auto-activation would make everything feel less... Rewarding.

I didn't have original Xbox so I never got chance to experience such an awesome multiplayer when you all people were playing :( The only weird Halo memory I have is, when I was in high school, and Halo 3 released. We used to play hours on hours 4 player split screen on 15" LCD. YES, you read it right. 15" can you imagine? and that wasn't the crazy part. We used to play without the sound, so first time when I played Halo game, I played it without the sound. And since I didn't play previous 2 Halo games, I had no idea wth was going on lol

Live was too expensive for me at that time, so even Halo 3 I never got chance to play it online. But we played the hell out of split screen co-op lol.

Great compilation there.

Have to say my biggest disappointment with this package is the boxart... Not sure why but it just isn't doing it for me!

Ugh. I'm really thinking about converting back to Xbox. Was thinking about getting a Wii U or PS4, but now I'm getting my Halo vibe back. >.<

So pumped for this I want it now!

Just one thing I'm hoping for is split 1-50 ranking for each game, with split exp for each game and an overall exp for all 4 Halo's as well.

Imagine going to service record:
Highest Skill:
Halo 1: 38
Halo 2: 43
Halo 3: 45
Halo 4: 1

My Halo 2 memory is probably one of the single fondest memories of my life.

It was two weeks before my 13th birthday (22 now) and I had been asking for an Xbox and Halo 2 for about 8 months. I wake up to my parents getting back from the grocery store, they had picked up Panera Bagels for breakfast. So we all went downstairs and ate our breakfast, (which was delicious) and as soon as we were done my dad says to me, "Hey, Bryan could you help me unload the rest of the groceries" I said sure and we walked out to the car.

He tells me to open the back of the truck and when I do I see a brand new sealed Xbox console with a copy of Halo 2 and an extra controller. My mind was absolutely blown. I had been telling my brother for the longest time that Halo was the best game I'd ever played, and that anything he liked prior would become second to Halo. Sure enough, we co-op'd the whole campaign that night and it's been our favorite franchise ever since.

Memories I'll never forget, can't wait for November 11th.

I hope not, the skill doesn't translate across all 3 Halos. I may be a 50 in Halo 3 but then when I went to play Halo 1 I would get absolutely destroyed. I really hope they are ranked separately. I don't mind an overall exp rank but the rank that changes goes up and down, according to wins/losses to be different for each game.

God, I hope not. This new Xbox we are seeing seems kind of keen to let Kinect disappear.

That's really unfortunate. I'm new to Xbox One but I really like Kinect, there has to be lots of creative things they can do with those old Halo games without it being intrusive to the core gameplay.

I dug how the Kinect was used on Halo Waypoint and in the first Anniversary.

One day I'm hoping for future titles to use character customization from the Kinect. Like Mass Effect or Fallout just scans yo face and BAM! there it is.

My fondest Halo memory was making sure that me and my buddy were the first to rent crackdown from the local video store so we could activate the H3 beta off it. We'd played endless Halo 2 and Halo CE before but never on Live. Had to lug all his xbox stuff up the street to my house. Hooked it up to our internet (we'd only just got broadband) and enjoyed the glorious double-whammy of playing Xbox Live and Halo 3 for the first time. I will never know hype like that again.
