Agreed. There aren't many arena shooters left, I don't want to lose my favourite one.I don't want ADS in Halo because it goes against the core principles of Halo's gameplay. It's not that I hate ADS, Battlefield & Destiny are two of my favorite games right now, but they're not Halo, and Halo isn't them.
I just want Halo to keep it's identity, and not follow trends of other shooters, we have too many "me too" FPS as it is.
You could probably build a house out of those things that would survive a nuclear blast. You just made me realize, back when Halo came out the hot phones were those Nokia bricks.
Now I'm laying in bed here with a mini-computer six inches from my face.
A friend of mine had one of those phones up until just a few months ago. She had the exact same phone for twelve years. You just made me realize, back when Halo came out the hot phones were those Nokia bricks.
Yeah, I think the precision rifles in Destiny suck with ADS. I hope Halo 5 does it better.I don't really care that much if it is just a visual ads. It's not my favorite change in the world, but I can live with it.
How it would be done on weapons with longer range scopes remains to be seen.
How the hell do you only have 3 hours to wait??3 hours. 3 HOURS! Hype is at unsustainable levels.
It's the CTF glue all over again!Spartans forgot how to smart-link their HUDs.
15 hours 53 minutes.
#excite
HaloFest can't get here fast enough. I need that Halo 5 gameplay!!13 hours 52 minutes.
HYYYYYYPE
Stop making me jealous! So good, such dong. #iback
Um...How the hell do you only have 3 hours to wait??
Do you live in the future?3 hours. 3 HOURS! Hype is at unsustainable levels.
This too. I'm really looking forward to seeing non blurry direct feed footage. We'll find out how thrusters and stuff work as well.HaloFest can't get here fast enough. I need that Halo 5 gameplay!!
Oh yeah of course. I got my time zones a bit wrong. And proud. If I didn't have exams I'd pick it up at midnight.

Great minds...This too. I'm really looking forward to seeing non blurry direct feed footage. We'll find out how thrusters and stuff work as well.
I can't believe we were right from the start about default thrusters.

I've met plenty of people who like sprint in Halo. Most people I talked to about it in Halo Reach and 4 liked it or didn't mind it. A lot of them had been friends I had played with since Halo 3 too. While I don't think sprint belongs in smaller maps (2v2 or 4v4), I think that in the case of BTB it adds to the gameplay and works well. BTB is still Halo yes but it's not small arena shootouts anymore. There's vehicles, more weapons, and travel time which majorly affect the way it plays. While sprint does affect gameplay yes, it doesn't make it something entirely different nor does it have to affect it negatively. The reason no one wants sprint is that none of the classic Halo experiences would have benefited from sprint. From 2v2 battles on Chill Out to 8v8 on Sandtrap. When you add in a mechanic like Sprint you fundamentally change the way the game plays, and have to change the design of maps to accommodate this, in a way that moves from what Halo has represented to something entirely different.
The problem for me seeing ADS even if just visually combined with the inclusion again in sprint, is it shows the thinking in 343 doesn't seem to have changed. The same type of thinking which led to the biggest and quickest drop in Xbox Live users for a Halo game ever in Halo 4. There again taking ques from other shooters, rather than making sure Halo stands on its own. That it represents something else, another class of shooter, rather than becoming synonymous with generic modern FPS ("tick box" based game design). I hope to be proven completely wrong by their reveal, but its not a good sign at all.
I just want to clarify I don't think there's anything wrong with Sprint/ADS etc if your into it, and if 343 wants to make a game like that fair enough, but their insistence to add it to Halo will always be an issue. Halo has its own style of gaming, your not being 'innovative' breaking the DNA of Halo, your just taking the piss out of fans who like the type of gaming Halo represents, and hearing reasons as to why taking features which we all know originated from other games and making them "work" in Halo is never going to be properly justified or accepted.
Make another game and call it what you want, add in these features and let your game stand on its own.
If you ever need someone to game with on the 360 just send me message dude. I know your pain.Ugh, I need to stop clicking on these Halo threads.
Lack of XB1 in my life is making me depressed as fuck.
Yeah I know people who like sprint as well. They all agree that the maps in Reach and Halo 4 were trash however. They just can't understand the correlation between the two.I've met plenty of people who like sprint in Halo. Most people I talked to about it in Halo Reach and 4 liked it or didn't mind it. Sprint ≠ Bad MapsCan back that up about sprint and even some AAs like Hologram and the Jetpack. All anecdotes of course, but the discontent with Halo 4 is surprisingly high amongst these same groups of people. Everyone has their limits, I suppose.
What? We know nothing about Halo 5, just vague responses that it will be arena focussed. They even pulled the whole "Halo on Xbox One" thing where they denied every existence of a Halo 2 remake and tried to sell us an Xbox One with teasing Halo 5 for 2014.and have done a much better job at communicating.

Their communication is really weak, they only do damage control when things like Locke is the maincharacter in H5 and ADS in H5 are around.
Sprint ≠ Bad Maps
Do you really think that sprint destroys map design? How are Hologram or Sprint ANYTHING like Jetpack?
They have beta next months, they clearly have to start showing smth. Reachs Lone Wolf trailer also released about a year before launch, but Bungie managed to release regular Vidocs. There was no vidoc or real presentation videos for MCC at all while in development. You do realise that we're getting gameplay tomorrow right? Not many games get a gameplay reveal a year before release.
Also it's good that they're responding to the leaks, most devs probably wouldn't.

30 minutes!
Wow HaloGAF went on a posting spree overnight. Moar drama!
If the game and maps are designed with Sprint in mind...we'll see. It's a small issue for me, as long as the rest of the gameplay remains intact.
Basically:
The Salting Begins
- Halo 5 leaked footage shows sprint. The salt begins even though sprint was already pretty much confirmed. Average day at HaloGAF.
The Great Salt Of 2014 is upon us (AKA: shit hits the fan
- Another clip leaks, this one shows what appears to be a BR duel with ADS. Salt begins to flow from every orifice. Threats of Xbox destruction are made. Halo as a series is pronounced dead by many.
- Some claim that the footage isn't actually ADS and is only a visual redesign of zoom. They are ignored and the salt continues to flow.
- The great salt mines of HaloGAF are working overtime for about 2 hours. It quickly overflows into Gamingside.
- Chaos is upon us and the end is nigh.
The Reclamation of Halo
- 3 more clips leak showing ADSless gameplay. Thrusters are confirmed, grenade launchers assumed and denied. Some positivity returns yet is still hugely outweighed by salt.
- The new clips are followed by Josh Holmes' tweets confirming those who fought the salt were right. ADS has no effect on gameplay. It is only a visual redesign.
- Confusion follows, why change? What about descope? Is the mortal enemy flinch still alive?
- A second tweet from Josh confirms descope is actually back. Rejoices are made. #weback is returned from the grave.
HaloGAF Returns to Normality, yet there is one more surprise
- People continue to complain about sprint and detail their roller-coaster ride of emotions. Stragglers are informed of what just hit the high walls of HaloGAF.
- The surprise hits us and based Stinkles returns, quickly followed by questions of "Why sprint? Why?"
- Stinkles answers is typical cryptic form and Don't Believe His lies memes are spread.
- The salting and slrping return in typical HaloGAF fashion.
And so continues the day of the salt thus far.
So, so jealous.
Hey, finally got an avatar
BTW does anyone know what time they're streaming the first episode of Nightfall and what time they're showing the new Halo 5 gameplay?
4 am UTC I think. (for Halo 5 at least)
10 minutes.
what are the chances MCC unlocking with NZ? ;_;
Is it against the TOS? Y/N?
If not there is no harm in trying! 9 minutes to go though...
Shinobi is wrong on some info he got there. Not blaming him, just saying.
i tried it with Destiny. didn't work.
I hope so. some of the stuff is worrying on top of sprint and ADS.
You don't say.Shinobi is wrong on some info he got there. Not blaming him, just saying.

YesGames with motion tracker disabled should still have callouts.
Yes/no?
I've seen plenty of well thought out posts for and against sprint in Halo. You do realise that we're getting gameplay tomorrow right? Not many games get a gameplay reveal a year before release.
Also it's good that they're responding to the leaks, most devs probably wouldn't.
Ooh, watch out. "Objective" posts on why sprint is bad incoming.
There are these nice things called reveals. I'm glad that they denied the MCC and even just Halo 2 anniversary. It made the announcement all the cooler. What? We know nothing about Halo 5, just vague responses that it will be arena focussed. "Can back that up about sprint and even some AAs like Hologram and the Jetpack."The point of the comparison was about what people liked... not about map design.
30 minutes!
Yeah, my bad about that wording."Can back that up about sprint and even some AAs like Hologram and the Jetpack."
:/
Good to you've got an avatar now. Nice.
