All Spartan-IVs start out with the same Recruit look. As you rank up, this is reflected in the look of your Spartan, which is visible to other players in gameplay and every Multiplayer lobby.

Visual customization items such as Armor, Armor Skins, Weapon Skins, Visors, Emblems and Stances are unlocked through several means:


• Earning a specific SR rank
• Earning a specific rank in a Specialization
• Mastering a Commendation
• Completing a Waypoint goal

When you meet the prerequisite, you will gain access to the items automatically; you do not need to spend Spartan Points.

But for real though, I am not sure if one would be able to tell much about any potential ranking system this early before the game comes out. But IDK about this one, maybe you could if you were willing to go online. Does Halo 3 indicate the presence a visible skill-based ranking system in any way if you stay offline?

I cancelled my LE pre-order and am getting the map pass instead. So: NOPE.

But I'm not going to use the VCR helmet because it looks like a VCR helmet. The other one looks cool, though.

"I went to Comic Con and asked the 343 Industry developers and while I didn't get the name of who I asked (I go back tomorrow, so if anything I'll let you know who) said they are putting up a Multi-player video similar to the other Halo 4 informative videos and it will include all the information we want to know about ranked. It'll be coming out Saturday!"

Lol probably, its old hat this time around too.
I should have linked the picture to a goo.gl url shortener, track to see how many people click it.

EDIT: now it's set up with one, you guys can go and click it a bunch of times and inflate the counter.

Although, interestingly enough, allmost the images I post, I will mirror on my min.us or imgur.com accounts before posting and it happens to show the numbers for how many times they are viewed.
There are either an incredibly large amount of lurkers, or you guys are completely refreshing the page and their cache (or switching browsers/devices) a ton:

Images usually top out at about a 1000-2000 views, so take that for what you will...

It seems much larger than I expected for HaloGAF...

From the same thread:

I'm going back tomorrow, I'll get names from the guy and everything. But he told me a video was being released on Saturday with information about all of multi-player, ranks included. We were talking and I asked him about the skill ranks of 1-50 in Halo 3 and if we would get something about that. I was being a little snarky about it, like "the game is coming out in less than a month and we still have no information about it" and that's when he told me about a video being released on Saturday. Idk how else to prove it, I have pics of me at Comic Con tho, lol.

I'm going back tomorrow. I re-iterate, and I don't want you guys to blow it out of proportion, but he seemed pretty adamant.
