The downside of an RTS game like Halo Wars is it's too easy to spam one unit and win. Building the "victory fleet" to stomp opponents is an issue even in games like StarCraft, but fine unit control allows you to more easily scout and counter. To a degree, you can't really solve that without giving players more control than I think would be optimal for a console RTS.
In 3vs3 that's mostly the case. Mass Void Ray's, Thors etc. only, but it is really hard to balance the game for 3vs3 games. You are right, it's too easy to spam units and it mostly takes one attack to crush your opponent and win the game. It's hard to make a very good console RTS, but Halo Wars was really good.
It is fun to play, if you figure out, how to play it, like most of RTS games.
only if kinect 2 is a huge improvement (and it needs to be) and hybrid gameplay (kinect + gamepad).
Ah okay, thats what you meant, but I don't think Microsoft will include a gamepad for Kinect. They rely too much, on controlling the Xbox with your voice and with your body.
Remembers me, of the Kinect Starcraft 2 ad, which was an April Fools joke. Haha
I couldn't stop laughing, when the guys did the fusion with the Templers to the Archon.
Also this vvvvvv
Edit:
Halo Wars 2 with smart glass incorporation? You'd be able to easily select troops, make squads, build new troops/buildings/vehicles etc with your phone while you'd still be able to give orders with your controller.
That could actually work very good.
