I get you now, thanks. Do you think they should have small amounts of those behavioural ones though, just for minimal variety or less skilled or less time played sake?
Yeah, maybe. I think those work best in the PvE modes, where you aren't really affecting another player's experience. But as long as they're things that a player can get easily enough without going out of their way to do it, then yeah, it can work. Headshot challenges are fine, the secondary kills one is maybe pushing it but hasn't been an issue yet. It's just a very fine line that you've gotta walk.

It better work this time, I had to walk through Vancouver's DTES to get it, including a final boss of one mean looking motherfucker that had a big dog off a leash that followed me to whichever side of the street I tried to cross to.

The CE maps were a product of their time, they don't really need to ever be directly ported ever again. I think Reach proved that spiritual successors are better than direct remakes. Also it was kind of pointless to burn Headlong on a game that was already being sent down the river.

Well lets be honest, Headlong would have worked alright if it wasn't for AA's

That is so fucking cool. I'd kill for a cane like that. I just love watching the community do cool things like that for each other. Reminds me though. Bungie how about some damn Cane's for sale based on the franchises you still have?

That's an idea I can get behind.

Prisoner was the map I played 90% of the time in H1. I used to just run 4 man FFA's on that map with my friends every week, loved it to pieces. Aside from that I also played a bunch of Longest and Battle Creek. Probably some Chill Out too. I got an Xbox in 03 so I only played H1 for a year before Halo 2 came out. Probably why I'm not as attached to H1 like so many people are.

Prisoner is one of the best maps in CE, albeit for 2v2 play, which is where the map (and H1 in general) really shines.

Remaking it in Reach and placing it in a 4v4 playlist definitely wasn't a good idea.

FFV > FF*

Play it, enjoy free form party configuration, and a harem party.

Old post to reply to but I hardly ever see any love for FFV.
It's the most fun I've had with a class system, ever.

EDIT: Also, had an awesome situation last night on adrift. While carrying the sword I was stuck in the face but managed to lunge into my attacker as it detonated. Here's the kicker, as I connected with my lunge the sticky detonated (upon further review) IN HIS HARDLIGHT SHIELD. Which amazingly saved my life. His shield dropped and I proceeded to kill him and pull a running riot with a sword handle.

So, someones hardlight shield saved me from their sticky kill. After testing a bit in customs, about half the time if the lunge is timed right you'll live. Some times you'll even make the person who stuck you suicide.

Does anyone know how to change your spartan's pose on the ID card? I can't figure it out...
The Stance section under the Spartan ID menu will let you change the pose. You've got to unlock the stances first, some are unlocked via progression (one is at 34ish and another at 50), and some are unlocked via commendation completion (Forerunner/UNSC/Covenant Ordnance Mastery, First Strike Mastery).

Craziness. I never liked the smaller maps in Halo: CE other than Wizard, Battle Creek and Derelict. For me, Halo: CE was either 2-flag touch return CTF on Blood Gulch, or 2-flag touch return CTF on Sidewinder. Still love that shit to death today.

Found it, thank you!

anniversary is the shit. no AAs, awesome strafe and movement speed compared to reach/4, 3sk magnum, no double pummel, camo and OS as pickups, decent online population, etc

not many maps but prisoner rocks and headlong snipers is amazing

I really want to see Pulse grenades get reworked into something different next time. I mean, I love them to death, but after greats like the incendiary and spike grenades it seems like they'd be better off as equipment or something.

Maybe even a Promethean grenade launcher?

Kotaku did a thing on the headless Halo 4 players, These Halo 4 Cheaters Might Look Headless, But You Can Still Headshot ‘Em

Microsoft's comment

"We are aware of the issue and have already taken action to identify and ban the accounts of these modders and cheaters. We want players to know that while the mod makes a player's head and armor appear to be invisible, the hit boxes are still intact, so competing players can still defeat them as usual. While the problem was very isolated, we will continue to diligently identify and take action against all offenders. "

i couldn't land shots when i aimed at the head, but maybe i just suck

is there something wrong with the controller implementation in H2V? when I do diagonals on the right stick (360 controller) it feels like that shitty 8-way aiming from the 360 port of CoD 1

Anniversary never seems to have DMR starts, always pistols and ARs. Lame

Pretty strange to think that Halo 4 is peaking just 30k over what our last recorded Reach concurrent stat was, barely 6 weeks post-launch.

The pistol...was kind of the point of the entire Anniversary idea.

Anniversary Squad was all DMR starts on the updated Anniversary map variants.

It was awful. It was rightfully cut.

Is this the day that the peak population fails to hit 100k? I think it is.

We all knew it was coming eventually. Sad to see it happen this soon.
To be fair I haven't even played in a week. Between countdown to 2013 deals on Xbox Live, new BF3 DLC, and holiday travel and shenanigans I probably won't get back to Halo 4 until the new year.

We do have a few things to look forward to
1. Another Title Update
2. More DLC
3. Ranks
4. Competitive playlist (maybe)
5. Influx of new kids to blain after presents are opened

When coming up against the headless cheaters, I assumed that I couldn't aim at the head... I always went for body shots :/

I hope it gets fixed soon

I don't think the Halo community is that hard to figure out and shouldn't have these numbers only 44 days after release. 343 had a chance to capitalize and blew it. Halo 4 could of had..
  • Smart Playlist Management
  • Ranking System
  • GOOD DLC Packs (Small/Med/Big Maps)
  • Unlocking specializations across the board
  • File Share Properly Working
  • TU that matter
  • Hired a PR person

I will give them props though for:
  • Hiring Bravo
  • 2 TU
  • Free trial to map packs
  • Ford Contest
but I don't know anything since I'm not a game developer. It's the holidays and finals are now over, I should be happy. It's w/e.

I love you all.

BTB, Infinity Challenge, and SWAT are the only playlists with people in them.

BTB mainly because theres like 10 maps and 15 of them are BTB maps.
Infinity Challenge because people have hopes of a truck.
SWAT because SWAT is the greatest Halo fallout gametype. Its better than Zombies and Grif.

I just feel like 343 handled Halo 4 too much as a product slowly rolling out rather than a complete title on launch. That just isn't acceptable with the business model they chose. It hit the ground running, and although they did get a ton of stuff right, from the mechanics to a lot of the elements of single player, there's a lot left to emergent gameplay and stuff to be fixed later. But then there's stuff like the Boltshot, which even rudimentary testing proves to be imbalanced with regards to the rest of the sandbox. And huge features that defined Halo games this gen like Forge and File Browser completely given the shaft.

Am I a sucker if I'm still excited for Halo 5 from 343? Or maybe subconsciously this is just me wanting to move on, but I don't think so. I guess I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt considering how massive of an undertaking Halo 4 was on all accounts. I really wonder how the reaction at large to the launch of Halo 4 will affect people's perceptions of Halo 5 going forward.

Anyone ever think that maybe people don't want Halo in general? It's not just 4? CoD is the hot series, maybe the masses are tired of Halo in general.

I don't think it's all "oh Halo 4 sucks so the numbers are low" as much as some of you would like to believe.

I dunno, Halo 3 held out for a long time. Maybe people realise that Halo 4 is similar to CoD and so they want to stick to the game that does 'CoD' better - CoD.

That was years ago now though, CoD has only picked up steam as well. Maybe some dislike 4, but I'd bet that the underlying issue is that people just aren't into Halo as they used to be.

I don't think people don't want Halo, I think people don't want Halo 4.

I think there's more to it than that. Even if they were to make exactly the Halo you guys want I don't think the numbers would be there.
