Okay, hear me out here. Dominion was made by Certain Affinity and only works on select maps.
Extraction was made by 343 and is available on all maps.
Certain Affinity did 2 map packs, 343 did one.
My guess is that initially, all 10 initial maps (save for the Forge ones) were meant to be made by 343, and all 3 DLC maps by Certain Affinity. For whatever reason, however, this changed.
By extension, gametype availability had to change. I believe that Dominion was meant to be the "DLC gametype" much like Extraction; on-disc but no playlists, no commendations. Dominion is a way meatier gametype and it'd make sense for 343 to do that paywall bullshit.
My theory is that for whatever reason, Dominion and Extraction had to switch places, along with 3 on-disc maps. The question is, which? The most reasonable assumption would be the maps that can support Dominon, meaning that Exile, Vortex, and Longbow could all be potential options. It does make me wonder what 3 maps 343 are going to make, though.

On top of that also, the original 10 never planned to have Ragnarok. That was going to be a DLC map later on.

The initial weapon placement. There's a scattershot in the middle and a neelder and a sticky detonator on the sides. The only thing worth going for is the sticky det.
My top ten arena maps would be:
1. The Pit
2. Midship
3. Lockout
4. Guardian
5. Zealot
6. Citadel
7. Beaver Creek
8. Sanctuary
9. Construct
10. Narrows

And Ragnarok supports Dominion too. It almost seems like some of the DLC maps have been completed already...
As further evidence, note that Vortex will be showing up in later episodes of Spartan Ops. Maybe they were going to go the route of "exclusive sneak preview of multiplayer DLC map in Spartan Ops before it comes out!" but became redundant once Vortex got switched to being a default map.

I actually think Adrift completely falls apart on CTF since once you spot the approach (even with radar) you can so easily camp and defend that entrance. They really screwed up the that ability to switch your approach to the corner bases once you commit. Corridor maps are typically pretty terrible because of this. Slayer allows a coordinated team to just completely camp a base and have no reason to leave.
Adrift is just a flatout bad map. I think its much worse then complex, which I tend to enjoy since it doesnt feel cramped like most halo maps nowadays

BTW Halogaf I can't say it enough. Lollipop Chainsaw is a must play. Damn crazy and fun game.
moving happened. my house still looks like a tornado ripped through it since I'm putting in some tile and other stone work. i'm hoping it'll be back soon and I'm going to try to get a webcam and all that shit working when I do.

Well, 137010 players are playing Multiplayer right now, just after Christmas. I even think Reach was able to pull higher numbers last year and then, the game had been out for a year. It reflects on here as well.

Halo 4 is cool game.
It's sad, because Halo's essentially not going to exist between now and Halo 5, unless Microsoft are FUCKING STUPID and have a spin off as the Next Box launch title, we have a very long wait ahead of us.
