BXR and stuff like backpack reloading was "an easter egg" of sorts. If everyone knew how to do it, it would have been less of an issue. It's also "invisible" - unlike a power up.

Isn't that what this box was for ?

Clearly a response to being called out earlier on your Halo 3 BR defence.

Clearly.

Question: In which sentence of that update does Luke say he prefers the Halo 3 BR to the Halo 2 BR or the Halo 1 pistol?

Maybe Mr. Franklin could answer this for us!

Feels like I'm reuniting long lost Halo brothers.

Kyle, your TV in yet?

nope not until next week. got a lot to do too once it comes in. all the shelving you see here will be gone outside of the floating dvd shelf which I'm moving to another wall

going to wall mount the 65", get a larger stand to put beneath it, put the consoles under the TV so I don't have a separate stack, then put an indoor plant in the place of the floating cabinet to help hide wiring.

Workload. I already escalated this but this is as good a reminder as any. Be sure to post this response in a year from now tho.

If only it were possible to create a dedicated legacy sustain position and then put someone in it to take care of the previous Halo games. And if they need any help updating, they can always party chat with me to find out how it works.

I really like your parents' house. Nice Homer slips too!

I have no shades in my living room cause I don't like them, so my neighbors can see me walking around in my underwear with Homer slippers on every night bopping my head to music. Pretty sure they think I'm retarded.

Guys, what did we do?

How did we summon him?

We have Frankie, David Ellis and Luke Smith posting in this thread in the same day. We clearly did something.

Is it like Beetle Juice, but with positive feelings that usher out the constant bitching?

There are scouts who report information. It is known.

I want to hear the whole story on this so bad.

Sucks what happened though.

You mean like Halo 2 knob-slobbers can do right now on XBC yet I never see anyone doing it?

Yea 16 player FFA on Lockout 10x in a row isn't really fun. People use shitty settings and there's a shit ton of lag. Once in a while I get a decent match but it's not worth it for just one good game out of every 10.

I'd get some classy custom made wood curtains that match the hardwood floors. Also yea thatll look great once you wall mount the TV and get a console underneath.

That floating DVD shelf is awesome too that'd look great to the left of my floating console shelf.

Oh yea and a nice taxidermy wolf howling on a stone would look great too.

Also Fyrewulf is bad let me update legacy Halo games. I want to mod Hallllo Reach and make the radius slightly smaller on the nades and the damage slightly lower, I want to apply lower bloom 85% Universally and reduce the division between Slayer and Slayer DMR's. Also I want to get Squad Slayer back in!

I have plans to reduce the playlists in Halo 3 to basically Team Slayer, Rumble Pit, and BTB. Allowing for insanely quick matches. I've also got a good idea on social and ranked split for it.

Just like how I don't know if my opponent has Hardlight Shield, Active Camo, or Thruster Pack equipped?

If it's not in the game manual or a UI selectable feature then it's not visible to all players. Sure you loved BXR, I get the love for it but don't be biased based on your personal preference alone.

If a player picks Ryu, I know he has a fireball, a shoryuken, and a hurricane kick at his disposal, and I can play him accordingly.

A player playing Ryu isn't going to randomly have access to E. Honda's hundred hand slap.

I can thus predict the playstyle and attempt to read the Ryu I'm playing, learning his tendencies.

In Halo 4, though, the player can not only have access to a different preset loadout every spawn, he can edit those loadouts fully at any point during a match.

Obviously certain playlists limit that ability, as seen in Team Throwdown, but in the Infinity hoppers, there's no way I can predict what an enemy will have one spawn to the next.

I don't know if Ryu is going to throw a fireball or a hurricane kick out, but I know he can throw a fireball or hurricane kick out.

In the playlists that allow full loadout options and on the fly edits to loadouts, there's no way I can predict or react to that prediction because there's no way of even having an educated guess as to what the player will have spawned with.

And as a side note, in Halo 2, I learned not to chase BR wielders around corners, because regardless of if they knew about BXR or not, I predicted its use; it was an option for them that would result in me being punished.

It's all good though. <3

There is a nuance of difference between BXR/not in manual and this post above. They are separate issues.

Regarding this above post the same is true within 30 seconds of "arena classic Halo", to an extent. Once players pick up weapons off spawn you are no longer aware of what they are packing. For example in Halo 3 on The Pit 1 minute after the initial spawn. Half of both teams have died, some weapons have changed hands and power ups are in play and you're pushing through long hall. You have no idea if a camo camper is around the corner with rockets, you don't know if a sniper is about to strafe into line of sight through shotgun and have you in a narrow hallway line of sight. You don't know where the 2 other team mates are spawning in for team fire/grenades. The OS guy could have tracked back and is rounding the corner with shotgun. You still don't know if players are packing frags or stickies.

I accept what you're saying and fully agree arena classic should return to 50%+ of playlists but Infinity and other base changes have their place too. Overall when you actually factor in variables in encounters, player predictions, reactive reflexes, decision making and team communication the level of variables are reduced in classic but still quite acceptable for infinity.

I rarely find I'm completely disadvantaged by another player's loadout alone. They need some degree of skill or teamwork behind their actions/loadouts to kill me. Selectable loadouts and personal ordnance certainly increase the levels of unknown or permutations of variables for each encounter but it's not like an automatic win as your post infers.

I do agree some more visual communication is in order for what a player has selected in terms of their loadout e.g. we can clearly see a rocket launcher or shotgun in use or as secondary when the player is in view and we adjust our play for that encounter on the fly. I'd like to see an armour effect or glow colour (like damage or speed boost) so we can identify AA's or mods etc.

I'd also like to see less AA energy in the next Halo title, basically 1 or 2 uses with far more cool down time before reuse. This could be in both classic/ranked and infinity/social.

However even then there is still always going to be that out of sight variables as to what weapons, how many enemies, which grenades they carry, do they have a power up active etc etc. Beyond those similar principles team communication trumps any loadout either in classic or Infinity. So you die from boltshot/camo/camping then you call it out so other team mate deal with that, this remains almost unchanged in classic or infinity. Team work beats any loadout, always has and always will. Further player deception hasn't even been mentioned, how many times have you been empty on ammo with rockets but you leave the weapon on primary as you know your enemy will be forced into certain reactions based on that. The best skilled players reduce variables with their decision making, movements, reflexes or team work etc.

I look at ranked/classic should increase the skill gap and social/infinity should try to normalise the skill gap somewhat for newer players or closer games. I never complained about Mario Kart 1st place nerfing but I understand/agree with hardcore competitive ranked playlists having a larger skill gap and less cheapness or random factors e.g. random PO or selectable AA's on loadout.

H4 UI menu seems smoother as of late.

I haven't played in awhile so mock me if old.

The Halo 4 UI has been growing on me. If it was sped up for statistics online via web/mobile I'd love it. The layout/colours are excellent but some smaller spacing to fit more on a single view as well as more in depth or real time stats from previous titles would benefit greatly. Bring back real time game scores on player cards in the roster. Bring back the party(s) highlighted on player cards in roster and pre/post lobbies. Bring back pre-game trash talking. Simple things like when you fly out your Halo 4 roster with X why do then I have to hit Y to see the player cards. This should have just been when you hit X it's like you already hit X & Y for that awesome full layout with player card and mini roster in full view. When you use that and the bumpers in the drilled down layers the Halo 4 UI is a positive move forward. As is the variety of devices supported. Key areas for the next titles are ranks on player cards and pre game matchups by team/individual stats. Clans would go a long way to catering for this.

If those changes were implemented and particularly ranks in game on the player cards tell me with a straight face the general population wouldn't love the Halo 4 UI and player cards too.

I like the floating DVD rack. The wood cabinets being mismatch wood is messing with some OCD urge in me.

I like the rug and the brick fire
