Halo |OT7| You may leave, Juices. And take Team Downer with you.

I really thought tactical/support packages were common knowledge by now. People, myself included, have been going into what these mods are and how they work since E3.

I guess it just goes to show you want a mess info distribution has been.

I really don't get the hubbub over this latest reveal. It's really somewhat on the tamer side (compared to the Game Informer exclusive, for example). We already knew we were getting ability modifiers relating to weapons, grenades, etc. These mostly seem to be pretty tame in comparison. It seems pretty clear they're trying to give players risk/reward customization options for their playstyles, as Call of Duty did, but remember that it's unique and tailored to Halo gameplay. It's quite a step away from classic Halo, but let's all not forget that many of these things will be playlist dependant, and that there will likely be stripped-down alternatives, as there always are.

agreed. my knee jerk instant reaction was baaaaad. initially, i took the specialisations to be on top of the 2 sets of perks you already get and that only LE people would have access to all from their very first game, but then we got clarification on the ign story and now its not so bad. some of them, the last opponent marker especially, sound a bit overpowered, but they'll all come with trade-offs of not using something else and may be limited by the number of people willing to invest that much time to earn them.

I hope we get more than 3 map packs, and a little more frequently.

When I think about how little I played Noble or Defiant (and I only got play Anniversary b/c it was guaranteed its own playlist since it was a retail release), I'm not sure how much I care about DLC packs anymore.

Can never talk any of my damn friends into buying them anyway.

For me, it's just more things added to the pile that I don't want.

Hang on here. The only reason I'm considering the LE is b/c at typical pricing, it's a discount on three DLC packs. But if they are selling the three DLC packs for $25, that removes any incentive I have for the LE (if FUD was a digital download - even if just on Xbox - I'd still be interested).

Hmm. That's actually good news. Wonder if the cards will be available via Amazon?

I appreciate that some of you are actually able to frame your criticism in a constructive manner, and thank you for that; I enjoy reading them.

But wow, the tide of bitchfest is just running roughshod over every sensible critique in here. The thread is almost literally not even worth viewing right now.

LE gets extra cosmetics and access to all Specializations upon reaching lvl 50 if you're into that.

I know you're a collector, what about the steelbook?

UGH WHY ARE MY IDEAS BETTER AND MORE WIDELY ACCEPTED THAN 343'S

I was thinking the specializations would be like a main class, which affected what you looked like. If you picked Wetworks, it would make sense you'd be using an AA like Thruster or Camo. It'd be how you optimeized your main class with complementing AAs and packages.

Now that it's all lumped in together, I'm less and less excited.

There's no way to distinguish or even surmise through logic and reason what your opponent might be doing.

So these are just more perks you can use in your packages slot... Boring.

Hopefully there's some better multiplayer modes that will make up for the family fact that 343's response to CoD's news was announcing more perks.

And I hate the roll out crap. I stopped playing Reach for a month when they had that level cap.

I didn't get it in Halo:Reach and I still don't get it. Why rein in people playing your game? If people are cheating deal with that. I agree this roll out system isn't ideal.

Cheaters should be punished, not the community.

Going to be a hard enough pill to swallow playing no classic ranking.

I think people that don't understand Halo might think these "Specializations" are a good idea, and it might even bring a few new players to the game.

And then everyone will realize they just make the whole game a clusterfuck.

I'm not reserving judgement until I play it. I'm judging right now.

Heh. I'll be sporting the Oceanic armor & (unless those bastards remove it) the joker cards, so I'm good. Spec access is troubling for a few reasons - I don't know how much time investment is required to hit level 50 (I never got past the first named rank in Reach), so without more info I can't be sure I'm not buying something I'll never use - and if I do use it before general population, it has that icky pay-to-win feel.

I know you're a collector, what about the steelbook?

I have too much junk kicking around as it is. :(

This, too, has probably already been discussed, but what if the Nemesis mod only doesn't put a waypoint on enemies who attacked/killed you, but just made them visually distinctive when you run into them again? Like, they might have a distinctive glow to them or something.

That wouldn't be bad at all. A hell of a lot better than seeing them anywhere on the map until you get killed again.

The only reasoning I can maybe fathom behind this kind of rollout is that it would slightly increase the longevity of the game, rather, keep people interested in it for a longer amount of time because they're waiting for the other specializations to be released.

I didn't like it, nor understood why, Bungie did it with the level cap, and I certainly don't understand why 343i's doing this with specializations. Unless this is all to boost LE buys.

It's not like we have anything better to do, honestly.

As long as something as game-breaking as armor lock is not in the game, this won't be as big of a deal. I get what you're saying though, it makes stuff very random.

Only reason I'm getting the LE is because of that Briefing Packet. So good.

I'm new to you guys, so the bitching and salting is really just hyperbole.

I'm not THIS upset, but I think it'd be nice if things were looking better for Halo. After E3, Halo was looking to crush CoD on all fronts. Now, it really only has the upper hand in campaign and some aspects of the "Infinity" experience.

I really appreciate the clarification. I'm not on the defense force or team downer, I just hate all the negativity (even if it is on a solid foundation on points that you've made).

All I want is a game that we can all play together and have a good time and hope this comes through!

As long as I have the ability to trim your beard with a sniper when you are on my team... I'm happy.

That's what we all want. But I think the reaction to this stuff was kind of amplified by seeing the CoD news. Like Frank said on twitter, it's like watching your little brother open all the presents you wanted for Christmas.

I just keep hoping for Halo 4 news that's going to bring the slide into a game dominated by perks and armor abilities back towards the other side just a little bit and it's frustrating to keep getting those hopes dashed. I just want one bulletin that's like, "Okay, we've shown of all the specializations and ways you can augment your playstyle, now here's something for the competitive player."
