In Halo 4, you could be facing a sniper using the Stability Mod AND Awareness Mod.
Boom, there go your two defenses against him/her.
Combine that with Active Camo , Ammo Upgrade and you have an insanely OP sniper!
AND they could get rewarded for these kills by receiving MORE snipers in ordnance drops!!

Just saw that on Twitter.

Holy moly campaign looks so good. I'm willing to slap down $60 for the campaign alone.

That's the one thing that I am really hopeful about: At least campaign and SpOps will be worth the price of admission

Where was it mentioned that you can only have two? I thought Armour Mods were different from Tactical and Support Packages, I may have missed it.

You can use them both concurrently, as well as a Tactical upgrade? i.e. Shield recharge rate increase, another primary weapon on spawn etc?

  • Stealth: Decreased visibilty vs PromVision, Faster Assassination Animation, dampened footsteps*
  • Stability: Lessened knock out of scope*
  • Nemesis: Possibly reveals opponent who last killed you*
  • Gunner: Reduce Turret cool down, move faster when carrying Turret*
Support Package:
  • Ammo Upgrade: Hold more Ammo
  • Sensor Upgrade: Increased Motion Tracker Range
  • Awareness: Use radar while scoped
  • Mobility: Unlimited Sprint
  • Drop Recon: Heads up on Ordnance and On-map weapon drops*
  • Requisition: Ability to re-roll an Ordnance drop*

  • Wheelman: Lessend EMP effect, Vehicle Health buff*

While a lot of the extra stuff seems a little questionable without hands on time, the fact that the core gameplay looks so good and all the impressions from Gaffers have been positive has me excited still.

You only get to choose 2 mods (Support and Tactical). Specializations are 'special' mods, it seems, that can be put into EITHER slot so that you could have two specializations active in a given loadout (choose one under Support and one under Tactical).

The opportunity cost of choosing one mod over the other in Halo 4 is larger than in a game like Call of Duty with choosing one perk over the other (why would you use anything other than Last Stand, Stopping Power, and Cold Blooded/Ghost?).

edit: Wait, did they actually say the Ammo mod applies to personal ordnance drops? That's not good, if true. I don't like that at all. I'd always seen it being applied only to starting loadout weapons.

Also, add 'Mobility' (Unlimited Sprint) to the Support mod section and the pick-up-grenades-from-dead-bodies mod to Tactical.

I just noticed those. I've seen images of her before but in moving video her "assets" stand out in an weird way. I find it kind of odd that they would bother to change that about her.

Ahh, ok I must have misread the bulletin, I was under the impression that the specialisation mods were another slot.

But even so, you can still have the stabilisation and awareness upgrades on a sniper to make it super frustrating to play against.

I do remember people (here? Youtube videos?) talking about how the amount of ammo in the sniper was really high - thinking the ammo upgrade could have been activated by default.

Armor mods are parts of the packages. Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't packages renamed to armor mods?

Protip: to get more jackpots, quit a couple of matches now and then (non-Score Attack, because Score Attack quits aren't counted). I usually ragequit when playing FFA since it doesn't negatively impact people.

Based off what has happened to me, Wu, and other people, the jackpot-chance-variable is set up to reward 'normal' behavior, ie some quits here and there, and doesn't reward perfect behavior, ie never quitting, probably to keep people from just boosting to it by going in full party and ending games quickly.

If I play a bunch of games in a row and don't quit, then I quit, I almost always get the jackpot within the next two games. Reliably.

edit: I'm also not saying people should go into matchmaking to explicitly quit, but don't hestitate to up and leave games that piss you off.

Well now looking at Waypoint they list the two categories as

Tactical Packages
and
Support Upgrades

It would alleviate so much confusion if they just screen capped the loadout screen so the every-now-and-then fans can understand how the loadout system works

Agreed. I did not want to know this part, and considering that a member of ours spoiled this very thing after E3 a week later about "you know who".

I've been out of town for one day and the thread went ape.

On page 168 trying to wrap my head around this specialization shit. Armor looks great, although it was absolutely confusing as hell and poor journalism to place one armor set with each specialization. People are going to think the specializations are linked to the armor. :_(

Is the Depth-of-Field on some of those shots in the trailer in-game or added for effect?

It's in engine. Naturally it won't be in gameplay where depth of field is important, but it's real time. In fact I believe everything in that video is in real time game engine, except for the real life shots and the fact that we photoshopped our address to read 343.

Also, all the footage in that trailer is months old and every single scene looks better now.

A little late to complain, but I can't believe they took out Anniversary Big Team. I can't even keep playing the half-assed attempt at a Halo 1 online multiplayer I paid for. Unreal.
