Just bought my Friday pass for PAX East. Is Reach going to be there? I want to dong on all the kids wearing anime t-shirts.

Like I said the way things are done now I don't think that DLC would have been in the game otherwise, it was made to be DLC. With a game like Dragon Age especially it's entirely optional too, you can ignore the DLC and get more than your moneys worth and then if you decide you want more it's there for you.

Only one of the launch DLCs had to be bought though, you got Shale/The Stone Prisoner for free with a new copy which essentially just makes it part of the game.

Personally I have a much bigger problem with pre-order incentive DLC and especially retailer specific stuff. Content shouldn't be restricted to people who agree to buy the game before it's even out. If you want to give DLC to people who buy new that's fair enough, I completely understand that. Esseitnally putting a time limit on when you can get it is just stupid.

If PAX East is anything like PAX West beware, I repeat, beware of the bean bag nooks where the hundreds of nerds play DS in mass. I am still haunted by the smell.

You got Shale for free? I'll have to look in my case and look for a code, I had no idea it came with the new copy. I didn't know that.

In terms of preorder bonuses, I'd prefer them not be in-game objects. I'm fine with giving the fans a plastic statue or sweatband with their purchase, as long as it doesn't raise the price of the regular edition (which I hope is set in stone for the next 10 years). I don't like the added dlc that comes with preorders. The game should be good enough on its own to merit a buy, we need any of this extra shit.

Ugh, my wife and I were totally looking forward to the bean bag DS playing areas. Thankfully, I have a completly broken sense of smell, unfortunately, hers is more sensitive.

I'm hoping there aren't any retailer specific preorder bonuses for Reach. I wouldn't mind something like the Sgt. Johnson bonus though. I'm hoping the inevitable CE is packed with "making of" footage. I can never get enough of the stuff. I've watched the Halo 2 documentary 4 or 5 times.

All the talk about Halo 1 being a big inspiration for Reach got me to go back to it. Rather than just play through my favorite levels (Assault on the Control Room and Two Betrayals) for the umpteenth time, I decided to look for some tricks to try on them. And since BlueBlur's Halo 1 stream was so popular I decided to record my efforts since you guys might find it entertaining. I finally finished putting it together today.

Dude it was something else. I think it was like a whole floor of the expo and just the escalator ride past was rough.

So who do I talk to around here about being the 1 for the Halo 1v100. I plan on using Cocop and Voc for my lifelines.

I hope that there isn't any DLC for reach on day one, retailer specific or otherwise. IMO, it distracts from the game. When I got ME2, I was first jumping through the hoops of obtaining the DLC before starting the game. Frustrating. Would've much preferred it if it was easier/not there.

That being said, I can see why there is day one DLC in box for games. It's a HUGE incentive to buy new rather than used, because this DLC is essentially a part of the game that only costs money if you don't buy the game directly. Seeing as Gamestop's used prices are about $5 less than retail, and the Shale pack is about $15 off of Live, you are actually losing money if you buy the used copies and intend to play the game to it's fullest. It's an interesting tactic, but it is perhaps a little too aggressive for my taste.

Can't wait for the ViDoc and whatever other Reach goodness we get out of X10. Even if it's just a ViDoc I'll be happy. But a beta release date would be great too. Anything is really. Think I'm going to read some Halo: Evolutions tonight before bed.

I think we've had at least a news post (here it is!) for each one that's hit Marketplace. Who knows, maybe we'll get some MP screens on top of it all.

I tried a couple different methods for the descent (a couple with the Shades and I tried to find a way to ride Fire Team Zulu's Pelican down), but that was the only one I got to work. I almost managed to grenade jump to the Pelican, but it was juuuuuust too far away and I instead went bouncing off the windshield to my doom.

Back in the day, I used to ride a Shade down, but that took several hours to successfully accomplish.

If Reach's MP is similar enough to the old games where they can bring back old maps I really want to see Containment. I was watching some videos today and that map was in one of them and then I started remembering what an awesome BTB map that was. So if it's possible I hope that map makes a return.

Wow, how did I not know about some of those. So awesome. On the other hand, it's a good thing they have invisible walls and death barriers now because lord knows how players would feel when they accidentally stumbled on those exploits.

Nothing like playing halo and having a team mate who is jumping in the same spot over and over again doing nothing... i mean really you are pressing the jump button over and over again and you cant fucking play the game you searched for.. and in another had 2 teammates ride the mongoose around the map the whole time. Just amazing.*

When I first moved to Paris, I finally had an Internet connection at home, but I no longer had a TV screen. Hook up 360 to router and PC screen, insert Halo 2 for my first Halo XBL experience ever, and..

Urk, couldn't you release the vidoc at 2:00 AM GMT instead of PST? 2 AM PST means 11 AM my time, and by then I'd have spent the past three hours in the train en route for Internet-less land, where I'll spend a week =(
