That's exactly what I'd like to see.

If a guy had a killstreak of 30 he should have something showing his accomplishment. If some guy has 1000 melee kills he should have something like the Ninja Gaiden armour in Halo 3.

Talking to my fiance this weekend, I realized we're going to have to purchase 2 copies when it comes out haha - we'll be married by then and we're both on Day 1.

Also, its mah berfday today! 26 years old - I'm friggin in my late twenties now.

Can't really do that because we all meet up to play MP and that's it. So the guy who owns the Xbox has a lot of pieces unlocked but the rest of us have only one other helmet unlocked.

Any indication that this time around those unlockables will be based on multiplayer stuff like medals?

That makes sense to me because the more experienced multiplayer guys will look fancier during gameplay.

A sniper who got 1000 headshots would have the appropriate armour to show it off.

Doesn't this make more sense or am I the only one thinking that?

I'm in the same boat. My friends offered to run through campaign with me to unlock stuff. To get the stuff I want, I have to beat the game on normal and Tsavo Highway on Legendary :p



Hey everyone, I've got a question. What do you set your look sensitivity to? I had mine at the default for a long time, but then my friends told me I'd "play better" with it at 4 or 5. I switched it to 5, and didn't notice much difference, so I set it to 7, and still didn't notice much difference. I'm thinking about setting it to 10. I'm used to really quick turning from The Conduit.

I'm just as eager as the rest of you guys to check out Reach's goods, but I have very little interest in crappy off-screen cell phone footage and pics. The only possible upside is a separate thread that results in another wave of mass-bannings, which has its own delights.

I'm far more interested in filling the gaps in the MP setup than creating pretty gifs. I wanna know what they've done with lobby system, veto/map & gametype selection, how the spawning/loadouts work, the exp system, the gametypes, as well as the scale of the maps. Might even get a glimpse of what the whole "activities" thing is and if the saved films have been tweaked in any way. None of that requires a direct-feed HD footage for me to dig through, just a sneaky child with a camera phone.

This. The leaks are more likely to reveal these kind of details before Bungie officially does. I wouldn't mind Bungie pre-empting the leaks and revealing the details properly so that misconceptions are avoided, but it's unlikely.

Agreed. I think it's in Bungie's best interest to tell us everything now and get Urk to do live streams of his play sessions.

I just prefer the formal unveiling to crappy off screen stuff, regardless of content. Not that I won't click the hell out of it anyways, of course.

The last two people that cared about the Halo storyline have been hired by 343i and have access to the Halo Bible. Posting such content now would just be a waste of bandwidth.

Halos' story is pretty much enders game and I like enders game. Halos' story is good enough.

Do you mean the games? Or in general.. The halo story is pretty much a clusterfuck.

Halo 1: mysterious, moody, subtle, beautiful.

Halo 2: Fucked up beyond belief, choppy, crap attempts at hollywood one liners (hi there cortana 2 of 'he never gets me anything') and of course, the fancy sounding english aliens :lol

Halo 3: Better, but at the same time it had to kind of.. undo halo 2 (arbiter takes a backseat) and wasn't really anything special.

ODST: Good god, the wit and story is just so shit, the entire usage of the ai thing (shit how did I forget its name.. the janitor thing), the crappy dialogue used by the odsts, the 'romance' part made me want to gouge out my eyes.

Reach = ????

I dunno, I don't consider myself a story snob, but I think halos greatness in terms of plot ended in halo 1 and never really picked up again. Bungie doesn't know how to write war stories, the difference between say, the odst commercial and the game is so striking it's not even funny.

I do hope reach has some element of subtlety but the reveal trailer didn't get much hope for a depressing hopeless war story. Halo writing these days makes me feel like some rogue halo fanfiction writers took over bungie, but I never felt that the lead up in halo 1 was ever met in the sequels, I can't be the only one.

Dammit, guys. I was being sarcastic. I was trying to make a point that you can't prevent leaks by pre-empting them. Good things to those who wait, etc. I didn't want this to become another reason to wail on the Halo story.

SO I WONDER IF THE PLASMA RIFLE IN REACH IS GOING TO BE AS GOOD AS THE AR. IT'S KIND OF THE COVENANT COUNTERPART, NO?

I'll take anything. Sure, I'd prefer Bungie to do it themselves, and I'd prefer a breakdown to another GIF parade, but I'm starting to get blue balls with all the anticipation. I guess I'm lucky I didn't use the web as much before Halo 3s release.

You hit the nail on the head. Halo 1 just had that moody, almost Ico or Shadow of the Colossus feel to it. That desolation and isolation of an alien world was utterly nailed.

Part of the problem with the writing since that game is that they sometimes try to do cheesy action but the rest of the game is too serious to do that. You can only do that type of thing if you're not trying to have real consequences for the characters. What I mean is, cheese works when you know how the story is going to play out in every way, like in any Arnold Schwarzengger movie.

Oh, and the romance in ODST was god awful. Why even bother putting it in? And the interaction between the characters wasn't any good either. You can't just throw together the cast of Firefly and automatically expect the characters to automatically be as good as the ones from Firefly.

Its amazing that Dax bothered to come back after I got a mod to re-active his posting privileges and act like himself. I was hoping he would keep up the act to continue to troll you guys (I admit, it was very amusing).
