Just played one of the most strategic team focused games on gears 3 and seriously my head is buzzing after. Mine and my team's focus throughout the game was 100%, call out, counting off every death and kill as they happened, each one of us moving like a damn chess piece trying to gain map ground and weapons whilst trying to pin the other team back, stealing the odd kill when we can.
It made me think why I love halo, we always play like that and the games losses hurt bad. I suffer genuine emotions trying to win games constantly, whereas this was one of the few times I've ever felt that in gears (probably because we normally lone wolf instead of playing in a team in gears).
I can remember having sessions in halo that finish in 9pm (1.5 hours of gaming), I watch tv for an hour and I still can't switch off enough to go to sleep. It will be interesting to feel those feelings materialise again, and its part of the reasons we hardly play single player games as I never get those highs (short story, 10 year xbox live, 6000 gamer score, a pile of shame that stretches multiple consoles and generations).
I fucking love halo for that reason, and anyone who hasn't felt that hasn't really played multiplayer properly yet.
