I'm using Turtle Beach X11's via the Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter. When playing H3 on the 360 the sound is perfect but while playing it on the MCC the directionality is off. I was S3 on Guardian, somebody used a bubble shield at S1 and it sounded like it was deployed right next to me.

Any way to fix this on the headset?

I have a 7.1 setup and noticed right away that Halo 3 is not mixed correctly. The other games directional sound is great but something is definitely off on 3.

Really hope they bump the playlist numbers back to normal after everything gets sorted.

5v5 slayer and 8 man rumble pit DO. NOT. WORK.

whole reason I played regicide more than actual rumble pit in halo 4 was because too much BS happens with 8 people.

Grenades in 3 aren't useless, wat?

So many bad opinions in here today, miss SMG starts?!

C'mon man did you ever run at a enemy in a rumble pit game and as soon as you get in melee range you duck and they melee over your head and you melee them in the balls. Good times man, grenades in 3 are not useless but in comparison to 2 they are not as good but that's for the good IMO, also 4 grenades makes such a difference.

Wait, are these real?

Yes

Bungie updated the MOTD and the rotating protips right before the original Xbox Live was taken offline

I was one of those people that stayed on after the cutoff, so there was a lot of time to sit there and read the protips while waiting an hour between matches..

I got lag and lost connection on each of 4 attempts to play through The Maw with 2 consoles, on the same network, in the same house.

What happened to the LAN co-op from CEA on the 360? Is there a way to get it to work on the local network instead of online and subject to terrible server bugs?

It was in Halo 2 and it was terrible back then. AR/SMG starts needs to fucking die already, it's been over ten years. Just give people both the BR/Pistol/DMR and AR/SMG on spawn already. Automatic rifles are boring as balls in Halo but if people want to use them whatever, just don't force it down everybody's throats like Bungie always did.

Giving the BR at the start makes every other gun irrelevant. I'd definitely rather see BR starts be on its own playlist.

You don't get that particular cue, but you do get the Halo 4 general chant from below:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_FY8uedFyIk

When Spartan Ops launched in the next few weeks (oh god) they may have this music there.

I think the multiplayer menu music would fit well with the "Searching..." periods because it still keeps a sense of excitement while waiting for something to happen.

Try saying that for Ascension. You'll get destroyed once the BR and sniper rifles are taken.

I know it's not this simple, but when I think about how these games had solid reliable networking originally and now don't, I get sad. What the fuck, MS/343? Why is this now so the opposite of what it once was? Frustrating.

Trust me, after this week, they should consider it. The normal queue music might trigger an episode of psychosomatic trauma.

Dammit, I was playing online yesterday while doing a research paper. I figured I could get 20 minutes of work in, play a game, get 20 minutes of work in etc. But no, I was getting matches every 60-120 seconds. Now that I have a chance to sit down... Wtf.

I will never ever ever ever EVER understand people who dislike BR starts. Halo was meant to be played as a game with viable utility weapons, where off the start you had a chance against any power weapon. When you start with an SMG, you are essentially useless. Don't give me "well other weapons are essentially useless!!!!" Go play Halo 1 then where every weapon (besides needler) was viable.

Starting with SMGs or ARs is a shitty way to play Halo.

Is Rockets in rotation? It should be. (Rockets is SO MUCH FUN and even if it's not "competitive," it's a good bit of silliness.)

By some act of God, I ended up getting into about 10 matches of BTB last night. Not just BTB, but objective BTB. Everything from H1 Danger Canyon CTF, to Bloodline CTF H2A, H2 Terminal 1 flag CTF(!), H3 Avalanche assault, to H3 Standoff multi flag. When this game works - it is simply amazing. Thats a hell of a gaming session and map lineup.

One thing ive noticed - usually when Halo games first hit, there is a sea of noobs for a bit until the serious gamers are left. Not so far in MCC, people are out for blood. Some people have been playing these games for over a decade - they know the maps and tactics down to the pixel. You gotta bring your A game almost every match.

It is funny seeing people dominate in H2 or 3 - then those same people are horrible at H1. H1 is hilarious online. If you just touch a teammate trying to get into your warthog its a betrayal. So many flag pick up fails. So good.

As a Halo CE fan and ... ahem, veteran, I would love, love, LOVE to destroy people and go all hipster on the Halo 2/3 fans!

I would get my ass handed to me in Halo 2 for sure, and some parts of Halo 3, but GOD I want to dominate Halo 1.

Those maps are some of the greatest of all time, I have memories burned into my head of all kinds of mischief and antics.

Is there an option to switch the lobby directly to being a LAN lobby (like halo 3/reach/4)? I think you have to do that to make it not send the network traffic out to Live and back.

Like seriously, who in the hell wants to start off with a crap weapon? It's dumb.

Why is it dumb? It turns every slayer game into an objective game, I.E. get the best weapon you can find. If you're stuck with an smg, you have to try and get creative. I usually own in team BR by being stealthy and dual wielding. Usually two smgs.

Starting with a SMG is more nostalgia factor than me really wanting to start out with a crap weapon, I have had plenty of success with the SMG tho so...

That is a horrible way to play. Because the weapon I start off with is garbage, I have to go hunt for one while some guy has a sniper. Or, if I spawn with a BR, I can immediately be viable and attack that guy. Starting with viable utility weapons is what makes Halo great.

I can't *believe* these lazy developers keep making file sizes so damn large. Btw, how does technology work?
Like seriously, who in the hell wants to start off with a crap weapon? It's dumb.

But on smaller maps, everyone just treats the BR like a damn sniper rifle. I don't want to start getting shot the moment I spawn. Yes, you're right - I can do it, too. But that kind of kills the "progression" of a Halo match. When I think of Halo, I think power weapons and map control. Map control is dependent on weapon ownership. There is a natural flow of early Halo games and non-BR starts... it's to slowly find yourself closer and closer to choke points, where strategy, team work, and maneuverability can overcome the other team.

That's lost with BR starts, IMO.

That said, the SMG is shit, too.

Assault rifle and pistol is a nice mix, IMO... assuming we're not playing on small maps.

EDIT: Matchmaking is finally starting to work for me. It requires restarts, system shutdowns, and patience... but I'm playing. I'd say I'm waiting about 12 minutes or so per game.

That said, man, Big Team Battle objective is so, so good. And man, I never really got a chance to play it on Halo 1 - usually topped out at about 4 players back in my day. 6v6 (and hopefully 8v8 soon) in Halo CE is like a whole new game. So much fun.

1-bomb assault on Headlong is, as I suspected, just as amazing as I remember it.

What sucks though is NOBODY is using a mic :-( It really kills things. Tis life in this day and age, but random teamwork used to be so satisfying.

Once MM gets going, though... getting a team of 7 or 8 Gaffers for BTB w/ mics should be incredible.

A good player will shit on BR players with power weapons. BR/pistol/DMR starts are great because you always have a chance to defend yourself against opposing players with power weapons. Just imagine how bad the game would be if the opposing team had all the weapons and you could do nothing because the SMG is useless from range.

If it's there, I can't find it. It was simple enough on the 360 version of Halo Anniversary. I can only change invite-only/friends/etc.

Halo 1/3/4 Assault Rifles are fine.

Halo 2 AR and all SMGs gtfo
No way, the assault rifle has always been outclassed and lame.

Even on Halo 1 PC, the Assault Rifle was rarely ever used by anyone, but that's because that game starts with that games BR equivalent (the pistol). Halo 2/3/4/Reach The battle rifle/DMR/Needle Rifle are a premium weapon.

They can play close-intermediate-long, and the fact that they can get a headshot kill is huge.

Nostalgic video game fans often get accused of wearing rose tinted glasses when talking about older games... but it's kind of ironic how I can't play this game from 2004 online when I easily could back then.

Good god the multiplayer is full of bugs, I been random suicide in vehicles a lot like crazy. Besides that Halo 2 anniversary looks great online, too bad I only played like four matches, impossible to get a match right away.

Bad players, that's who.

They have this delusional belief that they are actually good at the game but all the "cheap noobs" using the BR keep killing them over and over and over again. Will they pick up a BR? No no no NO! They have video game honour! They would never use such a weapon.

How good does it feel when you kill a guy with a Shotgun or Sniper with a well placed grenade and a few burst of a SMG, then you earned his weapons. I had the touch when it came to Halo 2 back in the day, gotta know where every ranged weapon was so you can combat a sniper or sword guy.

Still need to tweak this maps since it has some holes in it ahah. Had to change the middle since it was causing performance issues. In my public fileshare, so add my GT and you should be able to find it. Only 1 map in there currently. Multiteam built but you could do red vs blue if you wanted. I am rubbish at spawns and weapon placement.

I like mobility in maps, so I tend to put man-cannons around to help people escape quickly lol.

Throw me feedback and I will tweak as I go. First full map for MCC.

Raide UK is my GT.

Playing thru H2A campaign and damn does it look gorgeous. Though it's telling just how clean and pretty the original was that in certain parts I have to cycle and see if I'm on the remastered graphics or not.

I just started the Arbiter and why is everything so damn dark in the beginning? I thought my brightness setting fucked up for a moment until I checked the older graphics and it looked fine. If this was intentional I hope it doesn't become a recurring thing for any other levels.

Another minor annoyance- did they forget to add the tracer rounds for the Scorpion's machine gun? whyyy
