I just reread your post. I think you're missing the actual DE code. If it's anything like the preorder fiasco, you will receive the DE code in an Xbox live message 7-10 business days after purchasing (redeeming the code for) HW2.
Was planning 1000G. Now I'm not even sure if I can finish Heroic Campaign...
Blitz is growing on me though, but Blisterbacks keep bugging and sticking into ground, units not responding to orders, UI elements becoming invisible. HW1DE Early Access felt more polished.

Yeah, it's annoying. It's the only thing that keeps Legendary being challenging. Its like how can we make this more annoying for the player? Lets give the AI unlimited hero power!

To be fair, the only reason the HW AI on Legendary was challenging was because it cheated like a mofo as well.
Difficulty that doesn't feel like cheating is hard in general, and especially in RTS. I've actually beaten Halo on Legendary, compared to something like Brutal difficulty in SC where it's a game of APS spam.
On the subject of cutscenes, I can understand wishing there was more Blur goodness but I kind of appreciate that it tells more story in-game or during mission cinematics. Feels like there's more of a flow.
Ten minutes to go and the cannon was destroyed. God damn this mission is not fun at all and just all stress. Every three seconds "Wraiths from the north!", "Brutes from the east!", "Locusts on our base!", gimme a god damned break, I'm only on fucking normal difficulty. Time to restart the whole thirty minutes...
Halo Wars 1 on legendary was some of the most frustrating shit ever (Dome of FUCKING LIGHT), and Halo Wars 2 looks like it'll be even harder. Might not even be worth going for completion :/

HW1 Legendary wasn't that hard if you knew the matchups. Enemies felt like having a 1.5x damage and health boost, but countering each unit slow and steady was doable. (I screwed up way much more on Heroic, where I didn't play it that safe and went for the par). BTW Par times seem pretty low here. Like 30 mins on the beach defense mission, where enemies come in waves, and it took me 40? HW1 was tough, but fair. I always knew there is a solution to proceed.
This however is just unfair and can't do shit against it. That crosshair is there for 2 seconds then the beam sticks to a unit. Controls are janky enough to make it impossible taking that unit out of the group, and even if I did that, the laser lasts way too long. The last place I expected shit like this was this game.

That was kind of fun. You get checkpoints though. My tactic on Heroic was to save right when each wave cooled down. Then wait it out, what the next wave is, load game and build up the counters for that. Endgame was messy, but I lost only the eastern barricade.
I imagine depending on the opponent you could perform fine, but anyone using keyboard and mouse plus hotkeys could out-micro you easily and gain a hefty upper hand that way.
I only really care about Halo Wars 2 for the story. Is it worth getting this game as someone who has played every other Halo game? In college now and a bit strapped for money but I dont want to skip out on a Halo game if its vital to the universe?
No, never go up against KB/M RTS players with a controller, you're going to have a very very bad time. Stick on console so you all can have the same controller handicap
On mission 9, but so far, despite being miffed by the lack of Blur goodness, I'm pretty pleased by the fact that they injected some personality into the Spartans and Decimus. Hopefully it keeps this up.

It looks important, but not absolutely vital to the story. Plus Halo 6 is probably not going to be out for another year so you have time to wait for the price to go down before you need to play catch-up.
Picked up the Collectors Edition Strategy Guide at lunch. Very good quality and lots of really great useful information! Also came with a pack of cards for Blitz mode. If anyone has any questions you want me to look up, just let me know.
BTW...Let's exchange some GTags to get together and play. My GT is : Hawk269
Heavily disappointed with the game so far and I found Halo Wars 1 to be amazing.
Only got to Mission 11, but this is where I stop today, because the mission is unfair and terribly designed. Playing on Normal and this shit is absurd.
Also, the game delivered on my fear that SP is overfilled with MP modes. That is your mission design? Because that is just awful...
The gameplay during some Campaign missions is very disappointing :/ You basicly have to play MP modes.... Strongholds or Firefight... thats really lazy.
And Mission 11 is just bullshit on Normal already.

The difficulty rating for the mission is through the roof (i'm on heroic) but the next mission is almost like a walk in the park in comparison.
Almost put me off the game.

I'm not gonna lie the first mission with the boss fight gave me some Dawn Of War 2 vibes. Other than that the game runs perfectly at 4K upscaled on a 1080 at 60fps.

I'm way past 2 hours now, switching between this and MP. Started HWDE on Legendary, and it was challenging, but fun. This is straght up unfair and frustrating.
I'm now recognizing that the wheel is always a full circle, instead of HW's 3+3 circle that got extra stuff when required. Here I'm not always selecting the option I'd like, the slices seem a bit small. For example building in HW1 had only 6 inputs, here you have all 10(?), but only 6 are active. Also the ordering is messed up. HW had unit factories on one side, passive buildings on the other. Here it's just mixed up. These little touches would go a long way.
I'd imagine early in the game cheap tactics will just catch people off guard or counters won't be clear. I'm sure the meta will change and evolve, it'd be pretty disappointing if one strategy is already dominant and hard to stop.

In this case, it's a strategy that people came up with in the 1st Beta. It was so cheap, so that everybody played it and made me quit playing the Beta.

I like a lot of the leader power ideas but you can use them too often I think. Teleporting an enemy army halfway across the map shouldn't be something you can practically use as they reach you again.
Also does anyone know when the weekly challenge resets or remember when it did in Bltiz beta? If it happens to be today I'd finish them up before it turns over rather than finishing campaign.
edit: Looks like they reset on Saturdays.
