Yakuza 0? This was located in the over-18s segregated booth alongside Cyberpunk 2077. On basic inspection, it looked like a visual match for the PS4 version and in both cutscenes and gameplay operates at 1080p 60fps

Isnt Yakuza 0 900p/60 on Xbox Series S and 900/30 on PS4?

Edit: wrong info, apparently its 60 on PS4 too

What could this mean? Did Sega intentionally gimp the Series S version? I am distraught.

All games Docked btw..

Most games suffered performance issues, Street Fighter were closer to PS4 than Series S.

Hogwart 720p/30 with dips vs 900p on PS4.

Donkey Kong looked has shaky performance, looked bad too.

Metroid had laggy mouse controls.

IDK how Handheld mode would look if Docked is this bad ..lol
 
last week they says no dlss wants clirkbait monies they will get out of busness zoom in closer every gen

Not to be funny or negative, but Digital Foundry really has gone downhill to be honest and now just blatantly shilling. I mean, last week's vid....I mean ad clearly shows that they'll sink pretty low. Plus, they look more creepy with each video thumbnail
 
Literally the opposite of everything everyone else attending the event has been saying. Not watching DF until the console comes out and just to check the biases because what they say doesn't match reality at all based on evidence, published direct footage, etc.

They really seem to enjoy the clicks Switch 2 negativity brings them. Well, any media these days.

What has DF said that contradicted what everyone else has said? Most of the hands on videos I've seen are people who can't even tell if DLSS is being used or not.
 
I'd have thought they'd be super into the new DK just based on the destruction tech, but they sound really excited about Mario Kart World.

June 5th can't get here soon enough!
 
I read the article and they say that it isn't clear which games are benefitting from VRR or not and that some games fall below the threshold for VRR to kick in which makes it meaningless. And for the people saying 'the switch 2 is running this game at 4k etc etc' you have to realize that even IF 'Big if' the switch 2 runs a game at 4k then the visual compromises are going to be drastic. We're talking low quality textures everywhere, low framerates or unstable framerates, bad draw distances, less npc's etc etc.



The switch 2 flatout can't handle some of the games that will launch on it but devs will push there games onto the switch 2 looking for a quick buck anyway. Buy the switch 2 for exclusives and leave the third party stuff to the better and more capable machines unless you want a toned down and overpriced experience.

They already spoke on that word for word in the article. It sounds like on site what they played the game ran at 1080p 60fps. It sounds like the game will only do 4k with the cutscenes only from DF are saying.

That disappointing showing for docked mode no matter how you slice it.

Its suppose to be a 3TF docked machine, yes .. It's Nvidia inflated TF but still..thing is hovering around PS4 performance in docked mode.
 
This is why you dont get sucked into the hype cycle. People desperately trying to fit the handheld into a fantasy scenario peer to the series S. Its an impressive handheld allthings considered but Its basically ps4.2 tier in graphics output with a modern feature set capable of improving upon the ps4 in some areas and in rare cases lagging behind in some. While overall its superior to the ps4, its still its closest benchmark and not the series S. Alot of people tried to tell nitendo fans to have realistic expectations and not go by trailers and headlines its a 9W handheld for petesakes..
 
Acceptable performance or not, Nintnedo really shoukd have gone with an eGPU dock.

That said, they still could offer that in the future. Then again, they could have with the Switch and didn't (though the USB port wouldn't have been up to it - it should just about be on the Switch 2).
 
DF are good when they just do the "let's see the fps of different ports of a game" kind of videos. Everything else they (try to) do is fucking garbage, lmao.

It's 1080p 60fps on base PS4.
Can't speak for the Series S port, might just be the Xbox One version carried over.

it looks like someone just took the words of a rep and ran with it. But since then, there's been zero confirmation or reiteration of that resolution, and all hands on shows 1080p

The funny this, we are seeing this absymal performance from docked mode, Handheld will be an even bigger disaster!
 
I watched the video, and honestly I am impressed (especially with Donkey Kong, I can imagine being a 93+ game on MetaCritic). Don't know if we gonna get RDR2 on it but it should be able to run it pretty decently.

Mouse controls look like complete shit. Otherwise the console seems fine.

These cheap transparency effects need to die though. They are beyond ugly and have been used more and more on Switch, and now they are there in Donkey Kong.

Btw i love 3d donkey kong but the artstyle of the new one looks like shit. Why is everything dark and gloomy with practically 0 jungle theming at all? It looks like super mario odyssey 2 but in a DK skin and i just don't like the overall art direction of it. DK should be about vibrant and tropical themes, and not dark and oversaturated ones like what they've shown so far. It just dosen't look like a world DK would be living in or exploring tbh.

It's amazing how quickly people turn against DF for pointing out facts for the platform they are hyped for.

Some key snippets from this extremely biased article that goes so far to bash the Switch 2:

PS4 tier visuals in a handheld console is very good indeed. Just months ago, people were saying it's Nintendo and that they wouldn't even be at Steamdeck level of performance.

God of War Ragnarok, TLOU 2, Miles Morales and Ghost of Tsushima look fantastic even on base PS4, and will represent a significant visual jump over Switch 1.

Ill be preordering as soon it opens up. Mainly for first party games, though.

I mean they said "there is no DLSS" and then the devs said "yes there is DLSS" and then they were like "yes but we can't see it", and then they say "we see PS4 level of performance" in a part of the game which isn't on the PS4, they say "we see frame drops here" and then their tool shows there is no frame drop and then they say "yes but there were frame drops, they put it in a video that doesn't have frame drop". And now they're doing pixel count direclty on a tv, I mean what ?

It is very confusing. They're being asked to do as much as technical analysis of the console and games that aren't even in their final forms, running on devkits.

And we saw that for the Switch 1, they said Splatoon 2 and Mario Odyssey ran at 720p, it ended up running at 900p for SMO and up to 1080p for Splatoon 2 for the final version.

Just wait for June to start the hate.

They literally said in the article that there may be DLSS but they couldn't confirm due to lack of evidence in the footage. They compared the general graphical fidelity of Cyberpunk to the PS4, not the performance of Dogtown and were very clear that they were being shown a work in progress build. DF believed that the seeming frame "drops" in Elden Ring were simply artifacts of how the footage was edited. And finally they are using over the shoulder footage, because that's all Nintendo will allow at their events.

There is plenty to criticise DF for but most of the criticisms here seem to be in bad faith and don't try to put what they said in its proper context.

I might be wrong about this, but I believe it is the same game on the Ps4. The load times are longer, which makes it much worse, especially when exploring the castle. I played it 2-3 years ago and no longer have a PS4 to confirm this.

You're just repeating what I said, with different words though.

I'm not complaining about DF, I'm complaining about the bad faith people here (not gonna name them), which are taking away from their videos, by saying "see, it's a piece of shit console", and then they correct what they meant afterwards, but the damage is already here.

They have a specific way to explain stuff, and people are taking the raw data to spin it in a certain way.

There exactly the problem, they're throwing quick comments like mouse feature having input lag when every YouTuber has reported exactly the opposite, and mind you I watched reports in both Spanish and English, all of them say the same thing about it having amazing input latency, then they say HL being 720p like, did they even see the actual screenshots of the game? My bet is 900p or higher and it shows pretty clear it's way above 720p.

Then the constant comparison with PS4 even when all trailers and gameplay show it's running the games like XSS versions at lower resolution and some lower quality stuff maybe... Even SF6 shows better textures than XSS and that's with the textures bug fixed on XSS, yet they keep equating it to PS4 version which literally looks substantially worse while running at half the frame rate.

They're just feeding haters at this point since they know people will watch their analysis anyway when the console finally releases, everyone is surfing on the negativity baiting and it doesn't just apply to Nintendo, Spanish media are infamously exploiting it as never before the days for whatever excuse they can find in any of the big 3, which is tiring tbh...
