Lots of "Pitt is an asshole" talk/rumors so i wonder if that factored into it. Always would like to know the real stories behind these things. I mean he was just in an indie movie called I Origins that was pretty good, so he gets work.

He was apparently great on-set and wasn't a problem at all.

And then he went and quit on them during the off-season, proving his reputation correct.

Though i don't understand the logic of making a "promise".
If you impose yourself a limit to challenge yourself artistically, that's great, otherwise it's just a gimmick limitation.
And of course you should use whatever works best for the final work.

I think this gave Hannibal a very peculiar (in a positive sense) feel, the show is pretty asexual even beyond the subject of sexual violence, it feels very platonic and cold, which i think enriches the sense of otherworldlyness.

Although the sexual component is very prominent in so many serial killers MO (for deep psychological and cultural reasons, i guess it makes sense), it's actually one of the things making Hannibal (the show) stand out and feel different than usual.

I am curious to see how they'll substitute that element, though with Verger it didn't really feel like anything was missing, despite the sexual aspect of his sadism not being present (or even really implied, IIRC).

Also, playing it safe on the Game of Thrones comment, :p.
I guess he didn't want to throw anyone under the bus.

I think that's a big part of it. In my opinion it enhances the show.

They did a great job of making Verger a slimy reprehensible person without injecting any of that.

I guess i was just thrown off by the wording.
More than promise to the audience, it should be a promise to themselves as artist/writers.

Unless they're sepcifically doing it to avoid triggering imagery, and that's a whole other can of worms.

I wouldn't call them erotic but they show the beast with two backs in an interesting way while being NBC friendly. It's almost the opposite of what they get away with the gore but still being just as evocative.

He's gonna come out of the fire and smoke in Episode 7 and reign hell and brimstone on Hannibal Lecter.

nbc really fucked up not putting this on netflix

im just hoping the ratings dont end up getting even lower even though i dont think it will be cancelled either way

I wonder how much more Amazon must have paid them to put it on their platform. Community never made it on US Netflix either. Perhaps NBC just doesn't like Netflix?

Not one, probably. This show is pretty great to watch week to week.

On a semi-related note, I got my friend to watch Hannibal and he doesn't normally watch much tv. He finished the first two seasons in a couple of days and he was asking me when season 3 would be up on Amazon Prime. I laughed maniacally at him and told him "my best guess is May 2016".

I think a little bit of our trust died that day.
