Murder one is the weakest track so far. Not feeling this one at all. Now that we're dead and Halo on fire my favourites so far. Album sounds a lot more like their load era than I thought it would. Which is great, I love Load.

Edit: At this moment in time Spit out the bone is one of the greatest songs they have ever written and easily matches the classics.

All right... I'm done with everything I had to do today.

The album is uploaded to my Google Music library

Time to go take a long walk with my good pair of headphones!

Dream no more is "The thing that should not be" of HTSD. This is some heavy shit, wow.

edit: Halo on Fire is a masterpiece, period. That last 2 minutes of this song, damn.

Album blew my mind. Just heard it from start to finish on a nice system. Can't really process details yet my brain is still mush, but this is it.

After my first listen I can say that there's plenty of good shit here.

Will give it a few more listens to see how I really feel about it, but can agree with everyone that Spit out the bone is a great song.

Dream No More is my fave out of the bunch. Halo on fire, and spit out the bone are really great too and will probably be most peep's faves but DNM is a step above for me.

Trujillo's bass lines way more present here and sounding good. Loving the album, Dream no More is not my favorite but a great surprise! Metallica releasing music like this in 2016?! I'm in!

And, like Zalman said, this isn't Metallica trying to be 80's Metallica, this is four guys (actually just two lol but anyway) writing songs without pressure, trying their best

Spit out the Bone is the same level as Disposable Heroes. What great song. This is MOP quality.

Aside from Hardwired and Spit out the Bone there is only one word to describe the album:

Pre-Load

It's amazing. The most creative thing they've done since Load. James voice is fantastic, the riffs are outstanding and every song has 'that' groove.

I can only imagine what kind of disgusting cover they'd come up with.

Spit out the Bone is easily one of their best songs ever, only the ending was kinda weak I think, it is only a few touches below of Master of Puppets.

Fantastic album. So much better than anything released after 88, except for a few gems like Bleeding Me, and I love Load and Reload.

Their best since the Black Album. Seriously. This album annihilates everything that came after the Black Album.

You guys have me so hyped now.

One thing to be cautious about is that while it is a great album, it is not like the first four albums much. Most songs are mid tempo, quite Load-like.

The Bone is just something else though. Why the fuck are there no more songs like this in the album? I did not even know they can play like this anymore.

Loving this a lot more than I ever expected to like a new Metallica album.

Kinda ignored anything recent since James has sounded terrible recently live in my opinion. Sounds great here.

So far this album sounds like a blend of all their previous albums. Master, Justice and lots of Black/load influence.

Really digging it. I love how polished it sounds. Much better production than their last two.

Here Comes Revenge is awesome.

I am only like 40 seconds into Halo on Fire but HOLY SHIT!

That almost Black Album level of production.

It sounds so... thick.

EDIT: Finished

Wall of guitars, actual audible bass. Drums that dont sound like thin cans.

They finally did it. This is the good shit.

Heard my friend listening to Halo on Fire on Skype, he was getting hype which was getting me hype, we were both like 'holy shit this song is sick!"...such a great teack. I think that and Bone are my favourites so far.

Only listened to Disc 1 but my impressions of the new songs are good. Very groovy and Black Album like.

Parts sound almost like Metallica covering 80's Ozzy

Production is top notch. Was worried after Hardwired sounded so bare but the rest are so great.

Atlus Rise is a much better representation of the rest of the album then Hardwired or Moth.

Also seems like they played around even more with the production for other songs to sound more epic. A example would be they do have a bit of reverb and effects on James vocals here and there almost echoing the Black album.

It has a very thick Black Album sound compared to Death magnetic's almost stripped down sound. The wall of guitars is back! Chunky Bass is back! Epic James vocals are back! Also Lars is here!

One of the best things ist the return to Load/Reload voice. I really really love his voice during the Load/Reload era. Cunning stunts is amazing btw. Everyone go watch it if you haven't yet.

Here Comes the Revenge is such a fantastic song. Simpler than most oter in terms of structure but it just focused. Great production, amazing main riff, fantastic vocals.

I am crying.
