I love both those new songs!!!

Hardwired was like a punch in the face and then gut and then a kick in my genitals and it felt great!!! LOL!!! I was so pumped when I first heard it!

Moth, is even better!!! The melodies they play with, the whole structure of the song, how they build up steam for that finale!!! OMG!!!

I am so hyped about this new album, it's not even funny!!!!

\m/ (^_^) \m/

ManUNkind is the most hilarious title I've seen in a while. I'm hoping it's intentional but it probably wasn't.

All the titles are so cornball/demo-y placeholder titles.

It doesnt matter to me but seems to feel like they just came up with titles and went with the first names they came up with

Just wanted to pop in and say "Dream No More" and "Now That We're Dead" are the next two singles.
IIRC Dream No More will actually be next as the music video for that is already completed and was done the same day as Moth into Flame while Now That We're Dead is set to start filming later this month and the band is currently doing a casting call for fans in LA for the video.

I know there's only like 42 days till the album's release, but I don't like that we'll know 4 out of 6 songs from disk 1 before release

The second will likely come out around release. Either way, doesn't bother me any whether i hear it now or in November, if it's good it'll stay in my rotation. Besides, Worlwired tour starts soon and they want stuff from the album to play which is likely why they're releasing 4

So uh, in addition to Hardwired, Moth Into Flame, Now That We're Dead AND Dream No More, a few people on Reddit that have been to the video shoots (and provided photo evidence) are saying that the latest shoot was for a 5th song and one person says it's "Atlas,Rise"

So at this point I can see them doing videos for every song.

Makes sense, they make some cheap/quick videos and then throw them up on YouTube and get ad revenue.
Yeah, one of the blogs on the site said they're intentionally doing all low budget stuff. I could also see it as a way to get people used to their catalog before they go out and tour, that way it's easier to switch out songs since if it's got a music video people will check it out and they're not just stuck playing fan favorites or singles.

Digging the new stuff, but the guitar sound just isn't doing it for me. If only they'd try for that Puppets sound, or something remotely close to it. The new guitar sound is kinda bland and flat to me.

I'll still buy it though, it's fucking Metallica.

EDIT: at least there's a new Testament album dropping in 2 weeks. \m/

Agreed, but it is what it is.

Also think it's interesting that if the Reddit rumor is true, this is still all Disc One material so maybe there's a method behind this or both discs have different themes. I could also see them leaving disc 2 material for post launch.

Edit: The new Testament album isn't bad, nothing amazing but no worse than their recent work. Stronghold is my favorite track on the album though

They've filmed six videos so far and are filming another one right now. So far we've got videos for:
Hardwired
Moth into flame
Dream no more
Atlas,Rise!
Now that we're dead
Halo on Fire
That's the entire first disc, so I'd say all tracks are getting a music video at this point.

I used to like Metallica. I'd listen to them on the radio and enjoy it, bought a couple of their CDs (bland Garage Inc. and the one, St. Anger, the Black Album and the one with Fuel.) But I've grown sick of them and their antics.

I listened to the Hardwired...to Self-Destruct song when it was on the radio and honestly thought it was awful.

To each their own, though.

EDIT: I remember seeing them live once, at Summer Sanitarium 2003. We waited a long time (I want to think an hour to an hour and a half) for them to come on after Linkin Park, because their set had to be built. It was all snapped together metal, and they hardly used it. They really didn't care about our time at all. (Plus, the tickets were $150 each because of...Metallica...and the shirts were like $50 each.)

Creamium

shut uuuuuuuuuuuuuuup
I really like both songs... Feels so weird to say this about recent Metallica work, but here it is. I may even like Hardwired more than Moth

They had a listening party recently.
Am I Savage? And Spit out the bone are said to be the heaviest on the album with the former being "one of their fiercest" tracks, also pretty convinced that "Now that we're dead" will come out in November.
Other stuff:
One song is Cthulu based
Moth into Flame is Amy Winehouse inspired
Atlas Rise! Is about people who prioritize poorly (saving a red legged frog from extinction rather than a family member)
Man(In)kind is about asking how happy you are with your life, if you have enough, etc

Did anyone get the free mask with the mp3 download?

Edit: meh never mind it only allows it 30 mins earlier access, i can wait 30 mins after everyone to hear it

i hate how their guitar tone went from crunchy to spongy

spongy works for mustaine, he writes sick riffs that sound great that way

metallica's spongy tone is just meh

That riff for Atlas Rise sounds......bad

Like they took one of their old riffs and just changed the end notes to bullshit to differentiate it

I really liked the other two tracks released but that clip isn't too promising

Dash Kappei

Not actually that important
Meh.

Hardwired sounds like a parody of what Metallica used to sound like, Moth is much better but so phoned in for something carrying an 8 years in the making (well...) album from an iconic band.
What pisses me off is the bad production, so flat and average, by the numbers really... DM and St.Anger were pieces of shit production wise and this one doesn't enough to change the idea and Ulrich's drums contribute to the whole flatness in these first two songs; I mean, Load and Reload kicked ass in that department but the last time they REALLY hit it out of the park as far as producing goes was the black album, think about that.
JH sounds good tho.

Well, James went into the recording session without anything done prior as he wanted to write all new material and Kirk lost all his prior material (yes all of it) because he lost his phone.

Hardwired was written and recorded in a week and the album was announced the week after that, so I wouldn't expect that to be indicative of the quality of the rest of the songs. Atlas,Rise! And Moth into flame will be better metrics though I agree with everyone's thoughts on tone and Atlas,Rise! Not sounding too hot

No instrumentals and no ballads it seems, I've been searching around for reactions from those that have heard the album, but the above is all I've found from Guitar World.

It seems they've also already started sending out copies so, I expect a leak at least a week before the album
