Wait the album leaked?
edit: This sounds amazing, man.
Some very intelligent people at a Walmart somewhere in America let this dude walk in and buy the album because they advertised the wrong release date. That dude didn't leak it but he streamed the entire album, I was there to catch it luckily.
Halo On Fire is incredible, so much better than I thought it would be.
Dream No More>Sad But True (imo, could also be hype talking) but it no doubt shits all over Thingy
Confusion intro sounds like it was lifted from Am I Evil and its got some great riffs. Only problem with this song is the lyrics don't match the music at all.
Am I Savage?: Blues rock on steroids, it's also the middle song from the Hardwired album trailer, some great vocal performances here.
Here Comes Revenge: A lot of fun, great riffs, great vocals, going to be a lot of fun to play in the car.
ManUNkind: this one is really the only one I consider to be weak, its not bad it's just really odd and may take a few more listens to get into but it feels like they threw everything at the wall here.
Murder One: Not at all a bad track, cheesy lyrics sure but just really solid and straightforward. Weak in context of a strong album, still stronger than most if not all of their lesser output.
Now That We're Dead: I guess I just had different expectations for this, going to take a while before I can shed those expectations and experience it for what it is, not bad, definitely visions of Enter Sandman.
Spit Out The Bone: definitely Battery done in 2016. I liked it, didn't love it as much as others are but I was incredibly tired by the time it came up in the stream so I might just need another listen.
Lords of Summer 2016: holy fuck was this a surprise. Massive massive improvement over the original. Some lyrics were rewritten, it's faster, heavier, more aggressive, it's got a ton double bass. Production clearly improved a lot. Seriously did not expect this.
Standouts: James's Vocals are on point all around. All these riffs are really good, it's heavy, it's got groove and generally all songs can go without meandering with the exception of ManUNkind. I personally never felt that any of the songs were too long. Despite none of them being particularly complex or taking many weird turns, it feels like they arrive at their destination right on time, though I will say some intro's got a tad bit too long. But I never felt at any time the way I do with some Death Magnetic songs where I feel like the Kanye "when you're waiting for the joke to end" picture but then the song pulls out another solo and verse. Absolutely none of that here. Confusion would be a standout track had it not been for the lyrical disconnect and some over on the Metallica forums feel that the released singles are the weakest of the tracks.
I love all three singles and aside from ManUNkind and Murder One im kind of inclined to agree. But none of these songs I'd consider to be bad.
It's not a thrash album, not at all, but it pulls from their entire musical background thus far excluding DM.
I wouldnt say it's better than DM, it's really an entirely different monster. This one is a beast with a soul whereas DM is an aggressive machine if that makes any sense.
