HBO Original | The Last of Us | Part 1 OT | Endure & Survive

I think that plays well in a game but not for a tv show where you less time to build character bonds and motivations. The episode showed love in this world something Joel needed to see. It’s going to make Joel’s motivations stronger. Going the game route would have just been one big setpeice it probably would have felt empty. They made the right choice. Still have 5 episodes to go.
There are 6 episodes to go, as this season has 9 in total.

Dang that episode was boring as fuck but I thought it was going somewhere?? And then in the making of he just said he made it up cuz he thought it would be a cool backstory? lololol people are saying they cried n shit get a grip that shit was corny and bad. Good actors tho
Holy shit, you mean to tell me that not everyone thinks like you? This episode wasn't corny or bad.

I don't understand why people are getting so worked up and upset over two characters we knew are gay from the game and how Bill dies.

He hesitates before saying partner, Ellie finds the gay porn magazines and asks why are the pages sticky. If that isn't telling you really on the nose, I don't know what will.

Also fairly certain in the game, Bill's town is over run by the time they get the truck up and running and Bill stays back to try fend the infected off, implying he was to die.

But go off and cry that it's "liberal bullshit" and "woke" lmao.

I personally enjoyed this episode, sure I'd of liked to see the confrontations between Bill and Ellie and the school stuff, but we got another scene with Tes and Joel we didn't get in the game that explained how they came to know each other etc. End result was the same as well, they got the battery and truck they needed.

I liked how they explored Bill and Frank more, instead of just the notes and dialog from Bill and then finding his hanging corpse. Felt way more impactful and gave us more insight into those characters.

I haven't played the games at all but I might have to give this a watch...

It's stealth heavy, and unless you're a gaming savant, expect a lot of trial and error, but it's very fun once you get into the groove.

Do you have a PS5? If so, the remastered The Last of Us Part 1 is one of the most amazing looking and sounding games available for the console.

Oh, another thing: second episode there's a plush giraffe, third episode the giraffe music plays... The giraffe moment is over, guys. Maybe they do something to fill this in the show, but I really doubt that could be as impactful that we saw in the game

The giraffe scene in game is at the university in Salt Lake City, the game also has plush giraffes scattered around the environment.

They could still easy do that scene.

Seems like we're getting the Sam and Henry episode for episode 5 since episode 4 preview doesn't show us anything related to them. That leaves 4 episodes for everything else.
Sounds good. The summer months were always around half of the game anyway.

Episode 6 - Tommy part, Ellie running away, THAT talk. Joel bringing Ellie with him
Episode 7 - University, Joel getting injured, Ellie flashback to Riley and being bitten.
Episode 8 - David Episode, Joel rescuing Ellie at the end.
Episode 9 - Arriving at hospital with Giraffe scene before it. Joel murdering everyone, then leaving and going back to Tommy's.

Seems quite a bit of stuff for episode 9...but it's doable.

I think the last episode is really short. Hope it doesn't feel rush.

Episode 4 – 46 minutes (February 5/6)
Episode 5 – 59 minutes (February 12/13)
Episode 6 – 59 minutes (February 19/20)
Episode 7 – 56 minutes (February 26/27)
Episode 8 – 51 minutes (March 5/6)
Episode 9 – 43 minutes (March 12/13)

No ps5 yet. Probably when jedi survivor comes out.

I mean...they won't have Joel running around 2 or 3 different floors murdering an entire trained army. That works in a videogame but not here. That part could go on for 5 minutes and that's it.

not really tho

it'll be something like

10 mins for the start and giraffe scene
10 mins for get to the hospital, joel & marlene talk, etc
10 mins for joel shoot guards, grab ellie, kill marlene
10 mins for the epilogue
Looking at it that way...the epilogue wasn't even 10 minutes with gameplay...so yeah it's doable.

This episode decimated me, and I don't consider myself that emotional. Maybe cause I'm older, and gay, and basically by myself.

It shows that at the end, all our woke, not woke, shit, it's all BS, because we have it too good. we don't appreciate anything. I just ate amazing strawberries, that were delivered to my door. I mean, I am very happy with what I've accomplished in my life, and dang, I need to find this kind of love now to complete it. Damn it.

That was a great episode and 4 looks dope too
Agreed. I thought it was beautifully done. I stopped seeing them as "two guys," and started seeing them as two people who loved one another, showed their vulnerability towards each other, shared so many special moments in a lonely world. Very relatable.

The part that really hit close to home was when Bill said to the effect that he did not fear death/fate prior to meeting Frank. It was a bittersweet ending as well.

Lost flashbacks. What an awful useless episode that you can skip and nothing will be lost. Why not explore Joel and Tess story instead of Frank boring relationship that was left in the game for a good reason. Just follow the fucking game. Why this is wasn’t a Bluray extra or something. It is so bad it reminded me of TV shows that bring old flashbacks just to fill the episode because actors didn’t enough scenes.

Follow Joel and Ellie story. You had one very simple job.

Really? This stupid letter is Joel big motivation? Even Perdro couldn’t save this episode.

one good scene does not save the episode

so much wasted time with yes, gay propaganda

if was a heterosexual couple, it would be wasted time all the same

almost nothing important happened
They expanded on the backstory of a fan-favorite, which is what many people who played the game wanted to see. Your Uwe Boll avatar suits you perfectly.

The people who are bothered by gay men are probably the same people who love watching girls do anal, and jerk off to lesbian porn (which is gay porn as well)

They secretly LOVE gay stuff - they're just too insecure to admit it 💅
Lol what stupid comparison. If someone said they hated 2 gay man, if you really want to get specific about it they meant two HOMOSEXUAL men. Guys that wank of to lesbian porn dont watch and consider the whole LGBT umbrella, they just want to see 2 pairs of tits, vaginas and anuses of the opposite sex.

Man the western world sucks. If you don't get why it's woke bs your actively blind. Did I want to watch a crappy Netflix romance hell no god damn, man Bill was such a badass in the games and we didn't need him and Frank's love story.

I always imagined thier relationship kinda budded surprisingly and kind of comedically very unceremoniously like just a couple of asshole tough guys until ya know they fuck each other now lol, the episode is trying to paint them as some artistic fucks ugh.

Welcome to the Cringe of Us.

For the record I would hate a sappy love story between Tess and Joel as well, they are supposed to be hard badasses not this awful sap shit.

Man, they went 'all over your face' with the romance. If you dont see that there's clearly an intent to push that over your throat, I dont know what to tell you.
You should consider why they race-swapped Sarah in the first place.

Its not the what, it's the WHY.

I wouldn't say it's a stupid comparison.
Seeing a woman taking it up the ass is sexy as hell, but when men do it it's disgusting and unnatural?
Seeing two women make out is sexy as hell, but when two men do it is unacceptable and gross?

I'd say it's being stupid and a brainless hypocrite.

I'm loving listening to the podcast after each episode. It makes me appreciate the episodes more as they effectively do a deep dive almost scene by scene and break down their thought processes and their decisions on when to deviate from the game's story. If you haven't listened to a podcast episode yet, I highly recommend checking out at least one.

The Last of Us Makes an Egregious Pivot Under the Guise of Positive Representation

Thought this was an interesting take on the episode. Give it a read.

Personally, I thought the episode was fine. It was what I fully expected going into it for the most part with no real big surprises and little forward momentum, and I love spinoff episodes in most shows.
I thought the episode was extremely boring and meaningless and adds nothing to the story regardless of them being gay. Them being gay just give the woke a reason to attack people who dislike this useless story.

No, that just means you are attracted to the opposite sex. Nothing more. No need for mental gymnastics to try and label someone something they are not.

I'm as anti woke as they come and I loved that episode.
Same. Added a whole dynamic to Joel and "the decision" as well. Joel truly is a tragic hero.

Never played the game. I found this episode to be the best one yet, the story and the letter was great 'tone setting'/'world bonding' and gave a lot of meaning to all the stuff they get to take with them. They're doing an amazing job with getting me invested and interested into the world and lore.

Last of Us has always been about the human condition

The story of Bill and Frank sets up the rest of the series and shows Joel how a hardened person can come to care deeply about someone and find beauty and love amidst a backdrop of societal despair

To say it’s a worthless episode really misses the mark, it’s one of the most essential parts of TLOU and their change in direction heightens this critical aspect to the overarching narrative as the story now shifts to Ellie and Joel

It also means you are attrackted to the same sex. Nothing more.
Homphobes are a differeent breed, I'm talking about them. The biggest hypocrites out there.

Gay guys don't like vagina. But they never complain abut it.
