Hellena Taylor (Voice of Bayonetta) Describes How She was Offered only $4,000 USD to Voice Her Again in Bayonetta 3.

To offer a slightly different perspective from my earlier umm, crazy ramblings, Helena's comments come off as as a little extreme, she would need to completely disregard anyone involved in the production of Bayonetta 3, as well as any fan interested in purchasing this game after waiting several years, because she isn't featured on it, by adressing the fans directly telling them to not purchase a videogame, No matter how burned you feel when offered a $4000 role, that reaction is quite bizarre to me, this is such a weird incident and i have no idea what happened

Now with Jennifer Hale's comments , she is putting her reputation on the line, as well as Kamiya's. I can only hope this gets resolved between them respectfully, i don't have any ill will towards any party involved here until we have all the answers, just can't help but think there's a big puzzle piece hidden in all of this drama, and was hoping this was just a big marketing gimmick since that was the common theory for many months, and if any company could it off it was PG

What i will never agree with, however is the angry mob like mentality and harrassment that's coming from the gamer fanbase, suddendly the Bayonetta community became the official Hideki Kamiya Hate Club in a day, i find that to be hilarious, embarrassing, and sad at the same time.

Wow this changes everything, she was getting much more than that.

In the case of Bayonetta 3, the developer appeared to be determined to rehire Taylor, according to two people familiar with the negotiations as well as documentation reviewed by Bloomberg. Here's where their accounts differ: Platinum Games sought to hire Taylor for at least five sessions, each paying $3,000 to $4,000 for four hours in the studio, said the people, who asked not to be identified because they aren't authorized to discuss private contract negotiations. That would make the total for the game at least $15,000. In response, they said, Taylor asked for a six-figure sum as well as residuals on the game. Platinum declined and, following lengthy negotiations, took auditions for a new actor. Platinum later offered Taylor a cameo in the game for the fee of one session, which she turned down, the people said.

In an email, Taylor described this account as "an absolute lie" and said Platinum was "trying to save their ass and the game." She said she stood by everything she said in the video. "I would like to put this whole bloody franchise behind me quite frankly get on with my life in the theatre," she wrote. Representatives for Platinum Games and Nintendo didn't respond to requests for comment. Hideki Kamiya, the executive director of Bayonetta 3, called Taylor's allegations "sad and deplorable" in a Twitter post.

LOL she's a pampered liar who turned down 20 grand for a week's work.

She denies it all (I mean of course she does) so it’s just a he said/she said now. But this line at the end of Jason’s article makes me conclude she’s probably not great to work with.

I wish her all the joy in the world, I wish her all the jobs, but she has no right to say she is the voice of Bayonetta,” Taylor said. “I created that voice. She has no right to sign merchandise as Bayonetta.”

It would be like the first person to wear the Pluto costume at Disneyland says that none of the other people who wore the costume after they left have the right to sign children’s autograph books as Pluto.

At any rate, the people who immediately white knighted for her kind of look like idiots for not waiting for the whole story.

Of course she denies it, but Bloomberg saw the documentation.

It's no coincidence that it was 4k of something in both versions. Indicia of truth to the whole Bloomberg story.

Hahaha. Looks like she BS’ed her pity story.

At least if that was true you’d get white knights protecting the down and out. Now that she lied about what was offered and (not surprisingly) was too greedy asking for big cash, Nintendo bailed and looked elsewhere.

Absolutely no different than what happens in real life. Ask for too much and the hiring manager will bolt and find someone else.

That’s social media whores for ya. Looking for attention and a good chance of what you see at face value is in reality total bullshit.

Documentation means fuck all if the only people seeing it is the reporter telling us we should believe him. And i dont trust Jason Schreier at all. For all we know Platinum wrote that shit last night, dated it years ago and "leaked it". And unless there's some proof she ever saw that document anyways it's useless.

In the end it's a bunch if he said she said bullshit. Don't get too invested and just enjoy the spectacle.

If Schreiers info is true, and the recording sessions are still the same at about 4H each, then Nintendo offered her the equivalent of $1000/hr to do recordings. Lol.

And still not good enough for Taylor. I don’t know how common it is for video game VA to get royalty cuts but it looks like she wanted some kind of breadcrumb deal where she gets royalty fees, profit sharing or whatever she was asking for as part of bonus residual payments.

Learning how to negotiate is to start at a reasonable number. Not ask for the moon or else you’ll get kicked out. Looks like the numbers were so far apart she wasn’t asking for the moon, but the whole solar system. Lol

"I'm a weak woman who was exploited by the Japanese Patriarchy, please believe me!"

I'd say she's even worse than Amber Heard's "victimhood" fiasco...

What reason do you have to not trust him or Bloomberg?

You telling me there's more to this story about a company seemingly being too cheap to hire some unknown actress to reprise her one semi famous role but then deciding to replace her with a way more famous, experienced and well known person?

In the Bloomberg article, she continues to defend herself, saying these 6-figure + residuals claims are a lie:

Bloomberg said:
In an email, Taylor described this account as “an absolute lie” and said Platinum was “trying to save their ass and the game.” She said she stood by everything she said in the video. “I would like to put this whole bloody franchise behind me quite frankly get on with my life in the theatre,” she wrote. She stands by her original account. Now it's just a matter of who is lying.

Nintendo paid for Bayonetta 3 so the budget they agreed with PG is down to them. We don't know who signs off the acting fees, but Nintendo is a factor.
but they just wrote the check they dont control who does what in the game.

Edit and looking at things, it seems she lied. WOW

She disputes those claims in the same article. Someone is lying, and now we don't know who.
she already broke NDA so she should saw proof then. but looking at all what she said about only her can play the Character and attacking the other VA. seems like it was all a lie.

Kind of off-topic, but I went to see what the "other" place was saying now with the SchREEr news, and apparently twitter has an add on that you can highlight people who have made anti-trans posts or liked a post of somebody that was labeled as anti-trans, and I dunno, the lunacy of the whole thing made me crack up laughing.
